Multaq For Blood Clot
UpdatedI'm just starting my Multaq prescription today. I've had A-fib for 11 years, which has largely been controlled by Flecainide and Atenolol, after undergoing an ablation in 2001. During the last year or so, I've had more, longer-lasting episodes of arrhythmia, often lasting 12 hours or longer. My cardiologist recommends that I not continue the Flecainide much longer because in the long run it can cause heart problems, including new arrhythmias. I awoke this morning in AF, and am waiting to see if the new med will work for me (no change yet, after 4 hours). I was diagnosed with a blood clot in my left atrial appendage last June, which has put my planned cryoablation on hold indefinitely. If the clot should break loose during the procedure, it would go into my brain, says my dr. My hope now rests on this new med, Multaq. I'm a 51 year old male in good health otherwise.
