You can also ask your current dr for a referral. Pain Management Drs have pain contracts and routine drug panels. You will also need your medical records along with the diagnostic results for the cause of your pain. The dr will be the ones to decide what pain meds he gives you. Don't...

I am to have back surgery and can't take oral pain meds. What will doctors give me that can be administered intravenously? I have a friend who is an RN that will administer it to me. Or I can take a suppository. What works for back pain that comes in either form? ## Has anyone been prescribed any other method of pain relief besides oral pain medication? How do you go about getting a doctor to prescribe pain medication that is not oral? Does the pain medication work as well? I am unable to tolerate oral pain medication and it makes me throw up and suffer stomach and bladder pain. It also affects my liver. I know it's not typical and most doctors are uncomfortable working outside of the box of their normal and typical routine. Has anyone had the same issue or been able to have sur...

I'm trying to find out how many 100mg ER Morphine sulfate pills are equal to 45 Oxymorphone 30mg ERs for the month. Can anyone help me with the math please? ## Sure - according to the Opioid equivalency table on Wikipedia, Oxymorphone is 3 x stronger than oral Morphine. So, in basic math terms, each dose of 30 mg Oxymorphone is equivalent to roughly 90 mg or Morphine (oral). So the # of tablets would be approximately the same, since it looks like your Morphine dose is high enough to equal the Oxymorphone dose if that makes sense. Hope this helps! ## So there is a shortage on ALL ER Oxymorphone as of Jan and Feb 2021. I live in Florida I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem in other states? ## To calculate the total daily dose: 1. Determine the total daily doses of cur...

I have just received two scripts, one is Morphine Sulfate IR 30 MG and the is Morphine Sulfate SR 30 MG tablets. It doesn't say which one is the slow releasing and which one isn't. Can you please help me with this? ## I'm happy to help you! IR stands for immediate release and the SR stands for sustained release, so the IR is the fast one and the SR is your time released formulation. You can learn more Morphine details here. Since Morphine is a narcotic, it may be habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Verwon - Is correct. IR is Immediate Release and SR or ER is Sustained Release or Extended Release. As I am sure you are aware, MORPHINE; in any form, can become very addicti...

I was told this was a form of morphine for pain but I am not having any luck finding it on the internet. ## The pill you have is Morphine (15 mg). The S4 is actually 54, which can be misleading on many pills. You can view a more detailed description of Morphine, by clicking on the link below... If you have any more questions or comments to add, please post back so I can further assist you. ## Are the morphine 15 mg addicting and are they dangerous if consuming 3 at a time ? ## I would have to say yes positively. ## Yes Morphine is highly addictive. 45mg of Morphine Sulphate is not really a high dose. If you've never taken opioid pain killers before it will be enough to make you very loopy and possibly sick to your stomach. It is important to understand that the bioavailability of th...

round light blue pill ## MORPHINE (MSIR(R)) relieves moderate to severe pain. Morphine may be used to control the pain following surgery, child birth, and other procedures. Morphine may also be used to treat pain associated with cancer, heart attacks, sickle cell disease and other medical conditions. Do not share this medicine with anyone else. Federal law prohibits the transfer of morphine to any person other than the patient for whom it was prescribed. Generic morphine tablets are available. ## A round, blue tablet with the marking E 652 15 is manufactured by Endo Pharmaceuticals, and they list it as containing 15mgs of Morphine in an extended release formulation. I'm taking norco 10 mg 3 x day. I was taking 5 mg oxycodone along with the Norco at different times. I was starting to get no pain relief. My doctor recently changed me to 15 mg ir morphine tabs and now because it was not relieving the pain increased it to 30 mg er morphine taking it every 12 hrs. It's making me sick and not relieving the pain. Can I cut the er morphine pills in half safely. I'm still taking the Norco as needed. I've been taking pain Meds for 7 yrs for chronic pain and I can't go on like this. ## No, the ER means that they are time released, so it is not safe to cut or break them. Doing so could cause you to get too much of the medication at once, which creates the risk of overdose. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it ha...

I take 2 60 mg morphine sulfate er 3 times a day. What would be the equivalent for IV usage. I will have a 3 port chest cath shortly and was wondering if IV pain medication would control pain better and if so at what dosage to achieve the same effect as what I am taking or even slightly stronger. ## Each 60mg oral dosage is equivalent to about 24mgs via IV, but you will not get the same time release as you do from the oral, so your doctor may need to adjust your dosage, and administration of it, accordingly. The FDA warns that Morphine carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and headache. The pain control can be better for some people, via IV, but not everyone responds well to it. The only thing you can do ...

can methadon be taken with another pain pill ,ex. morphine ## Yes I have been on 150mg dose for about 6 years, I was admitted to the hospital for Pancreatitius and they gave me Haladol and Morphine for the pain, and I still took the Methadone each day. You can also take Hydrocodone, but be careful there are some pain pills that you can not take. ## Yes, Methadone can be taken with other analgesics, as long as your doctor approves, but it may negate the efficacy of some, especially depending on the dosage, and as was already stated, there are some it should not be taken with. The FDA warns that opioids carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, and constipation. It is an opiate that is most commonly used to treat moderate to severe pain. It carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. As to proper disposal, you should never flush medications. It has poison listed on the label of my bottle of liquid morphine sulfate for intravenous use. It is an outdated bottle, but is it safe to use? ## First never use expired drugs! Secondly liquid morphine is deadly if taken or used improperly so why wouldn't it be considered a poison. ## Jeff is correct. Most medications are considered poisons, if used improperly, in excessive amounts, of by those who shouldn't be taking them. What precise markings are on the label are you talking about, though? Most pharmacies don't use one that just says poison. Morphine is an opiate, so it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth.

What is equal in mgs? I have been prescribed a 60 mg. of OxyCotin ER. Now the dr. is suggesting I use 30 mgs. of Morphine Sul ER. Can you give me the mgs. that equals the 60 mg.OxyCotin ER . What would the mg. difference be to get the same pain relieving results? It's not the dr.; it's the drug plan I have that is now demanding this be changed. Awaiting your comments! Eva ## Hello, Eva! How are you? Oxycodone is one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so you'd actually need 90mgs of the Morphine to equal the same analgesic effect of 60mgs of Oxycontin. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I found a white pill with crescent moon on one side and 270 on the other in my teenage cousins room can anyone tell me what this is I can't pull it up on the net anywhere ## Hi turtle, Based on the description provided, I found a white round pill with 270 on one side and a half moon logo on the other to be a 15mg Morphine sulfate ER tablet. This medication is used for moderate to severe (chronic) pain. For verification, the pill itself is made by Actavis and carries a National Drug Code of 0228-4270-11 I hope this helps! ## So a pill with a crescent moon and 270 on one side IS morphine?? ## Are you completely sure that it is 15mg morphine? ## If the letter R is above the crescent and on the other side, the A and 270 are separated by a line, then it is Furusemide, a common water tabl...

for the last 7 years I have been on Norco 10's got to the point I was taking 12 to 15 a day, it got to the point that they stopped working for me so my dr. put me on morphine er 15mg 3x a day with 30mg instant release 4x a day im new to morphine but have a very high tolerance to opiots, im just wondering if I made a good switch. I remember when the Norco made me feel great but I have yet to take two 30mg i.r. at once to see if that was a pleasant feeling, anyone have some helpful advice in this area? thanks ## Hello, Charles! How are you? The reason you aren't getting that same effect from the Morphine is because it's time released. The Norco was released all at once within 15 to 20 minutes of taking it, but the Morphine is slowly released into your body over a period of abo...
