I am a 26 yr old female and after almost a year of not having a normal period (my period is 1-2 days of light old blood) I went to my ob. She put me on medroxyprogesterone to kickstart my period and then once I had my period to take clomid. (She doesn't believe I'm ovulating and me and my husband are trying to get pregnant. )The directions on the medicine said to take for 10 days and then I'd start my period 3-7 days after my last dose. After 15 days of no period I called my doctor and she prescribed another round of medroxyprogesterone. I'm worried. Is it normal to have to take 2 rounds of medroxyprogesterone to kick start your period?

Hi, Kasey! Sorry about the problems that you're having.

Have you used any of kits that can let you know if you're ovulating or not?

Or perhaps your own check of cervical position and mucous?

It is possible to have a period like yours, but still be ovulating.

Normally, if a woman isn't ovulating, she'll start to experience much shorter cycles that become heavier and more irregular with time.

If this form of Progesterone isn't working, it could actually be estrogen that you're low in, since that's what causes the build up of the endometrial lining.

I did use ovulation kits for 2 months but it showed I was at peak ovulation for 19 days a month! I haven't noticed a change in cervical mucous at all. Maybe I don't know what I'm looking for. The medroxyprogesterone causes a bit of a weird discharge so maybe I'm overlooking it Due to that.
Thank you for your help. I started yet another round of medroxyprogesterone. :( my dr said if this doesn't work to make another appt.

I just started taking Medroxyprogesterone 10mg back in March. I was having periods for 11-13 days at a time. So the doctor said take for 20 days then not for 10 days a month. In April my cycle lasted 7 days. Then 2 weeks later I had some old blood spotting for a couple of days. But when it was time to start my period I never did. Is that normal? I generally start every 28 days no questions asked.

Hi, I experienced brown dry discharge yesterday 6/9, my doctor put me on medroxyprogesterone at the end of april bc i had very heavy bleeding to regulate my period. I start taking them right away as I started taking them i was on my period which stopped and started back to spot until around the middle of may during which i have had plenty of unprotected intercourse. Now i havent had my period yet. Wondering will i get one bc i have took hpt and they all have been negative. Sensitive nipples, appetite increase along with extreme fatigue, like falling asleep while sitting up. Help me understand if its normal?
