Is it possible for a box of pills to have the same lot number if those pills were purchased in two very distant areas?

Hello, Nancy! How are you?

Oh yes, that is definitely possible. As defined by the FDA, a lot number is just used to pinpoint a certain production run of a medication and, it may include any given number of bottles of pills, depending on how the manufacturer has their system set up and how much medication they manufacture. It is used to help trace it back to a certain time, production run, employees and etc. in case of product tampering, contamination, or etc.

Once a certain production is finished, those pills from that lot number could end up anywhere, in any store that carries their product.

Is there anything else I can help with?
