Contraindications ## It appears that Repace contains Hydrochlorothiazide and Losartan, most commonly used to treat high blood pressure. Common side effects can include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and headache. It is only listed as being contra-indicated if someone is allergic or sensitive to one of the active ingredients. I heard that the patent for Hyzarr would be expired in 2009. However, I haven't found generic one for Hyzarr in US market. Does anyone know when it will be available? ## Hyazaar contains the active ingredients Losartan and Hydrochlorothiazide, it is used mainly to treat high blood pressure. That said, it is hard to say when a generc may be available. There are occasions where the company that has the proprietary patent can get extensions, before other companies will be allowed to market a generic. I am taking Stamlo 2.5. My blood pressure is under control 70-130 but I am getting ankle edema. Can I switch over to Losar H 25? Will it be good substitute for Stamlo 2.5.? Will my ankle edema will go by this change? ## Losar H contains the active ingredients Losartan and Hydrochlorothiazide. The Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic, which should help with the edema. As to whether or not it is a good change and will work for you, the only way to know that is to try the medication and follow your doctor's instructions. I would like to know about any reports of psychosis precipitated by Losartan. ## Why is this medication typically prescribed? ## Losartan is used mainly in the treatment of Hypertension. Some common side effects of these types of medications can include: nausea, headache and dizziness. I can't find any information in regards to this medication causing psychosis, though it could simply be a bad reaction to the medication, in which case a person should consult with their doctor immediately.
