I am years old my docotor put me on lo lo on May 7th, 2012 because I have been spotting since April 11th, 2012, the spotting instanly stopped but then my period started on the 16th and I have spotting since then, this is consuming my life, tired of buy pads, my social life has been shot to hell. ## If the side effects of this medication are too bothersome or unpredictable, I think it may be in your best interest to ask your doctor about switching medications or opting for a more natural alternative. One natural alternative that I can think of off the top of my head is Clary Sage essential oil, which is used to help with a wide array of menstrual related problems; including but not limited to regulating periods and easing any pain that may be associated with them. I think it would also b...

I took my Wednesday blue pill in the third week, 8 hours late, I usually take it between 10-11 at night and when I woke up Thursday morning I realized I forgot it so I took it at 7 in the morning. Am I ok? My fiancé and I had unprotected sex later that day twice and he finished in me both times. I just want to know if I can stop worrying, thanks ## You should have still been protected, as long as you took in within 24hours, preferable within the first 12 and you were within that time frame. However, there is always a small chance of getting pregnant, so if you don't start your menstrual cycle, be sure to contact your doctor for a pregnancy test. Hey! Anyone else notice that the box instructions give detailed instructions for what you should do if you miss any amount of pills on any given week except if you miss only 1 on the 4th week? I just took my last blue pill on week 4 before I start the white but have started having diarrhea (sorry to get graphic guys!) and assume I should treat it as a missed pill. However, it doesn't tell me what to do! I have looked everywhere. Advice? Has this ever happened to you before & what did you do? Thanks :) ## Yes, that's what the detailed instructions say, the only time you don't have to worry about missing one is if it's the last 2 brown tablets in the package. I have started Lo Loestrin Fe about 2 months ago but i was taking the regular Loestrin 24 before. I have had unprotected sex, but my fiance never ejaculated in me. I have confused my pills with the days this month but i also missed my period last month and i finished my pack today but still no period. I haven't thrown up but I keep feeling sick, headaches and migraines over the past days. Is this because my body is still getting used to the pills or is their a possibility that I may be pregnant. ## If you're sexually active, there is always the possibility of pregnancy, though it is very, very low if you also take oral contraceptives and use other precautions. I've been on Lo Loestrin Fe for 4 months now. I always bled every other week so I was never afraid of missing a period because I got then all the time. However, last month I missed my period which I read is normal for this birth control. We use condoms and pull out. When I missed my period I still took the two white and two brown pills. I still have not had my period and it's been a week since I've missed and took those pills. Do the brown pills still protect from pregnancy if you did not start your period? Or are they just sugar pills and I should be worried now of maybe being pregnant because they weren't actually birth control? ## I forgot to mention that we do not always begin with a condom but by the time he finishes, we've put one on and he still pulls out. ## ...

I started my period in April, but I wasn't on the brown pill yet. and now I haven't had a period for the month of may. I have no symptoms of pregnancy. I kept holding my urine in for a while now my bladder hurts. maybe that caused my cycle not to come? idk. and I'm taking lo loestrine FE. ## Have you contacted your doctor? Why are you holding your urine in? That's never really a good idea, because it can cause various problems, such as urinary tract infections. It can be normal to skip your menstrual cycle, when you are new to taking oral contraceptives, due to your body adjusting to the hormones, but you should talk to your doctor to be certain. I started taking lo loestrin fe and I started it when I was spotting instead of my period. Now I got my period in the middle of the pack and I still have 12 active blue pills left. Should I just continue taking the pills or start a new pack? ## Have you checked with your doctor? Unless they instruct you otherwise, you should just continue the pack of pills, as normal, whether you are experiencing breakthrough bleeding, or not. Learn more: Oral Contraceptives

This is my first month of taking Lo Loestrin Fe and I was wanting to skip my period at the end of the month. I heard that if you skip the reminder pills and just start the new pack then you won't have your period. So I was just wondering if the white are reminder pills too, I know the brown ones are, and I was wondering if the white ones start your period or if the brown ones do? I only have one blue pill left and can't get a new pack until the day after tomorrow because I'm out of town. ## To be honest, I am not familiar with these tablets, so I would suggest your asking a pharmacist, they should have the information available as to which pills are which and they will probably be able to help you. Does anyone else happen to know?

Hi, I'm on my second month of loestrin 24. Last month I had my period for 4-5 days and it was pretty light, lighter than my others used to be before I started taking birth control. I was wondering if this is normal? And also, I just started my third week of this second month ad the past few days I've had spotting or maybe bloody discharge? And cramps at some points. I was wondering if this is normal too? ## This is a hormonal based contraceptive, so yes, the symptoms you've described can be normal side effects and they can last as long as this first 3 months. However, if they cause you concern, or are very severe, then you should consult your doctor. ## Thank you so much!

I have been stressed lately but I got my period on April 23rd, and then recently for the past week have had brown discharge. Grant it, I have been stressed, and I wasn't taking my birth control pill at the same time for about 2 weeks, but I'm a bit concerned about this. Should I see a doctor or will this pass?? Also I was curious if women have their period does it affect you when you're around them?? ## You skipped taking your BC for about 2 weeks? These are hormonal based and skipping for any amount of time could certainly cause the spotting the discharge that you are experiencing, which is actually called breakthrough bleeding. And does it affect who, when they are around menstruating women? No one will know you are having your menstrual cycle, if you maintain proper hygie...

I have been taking the Lo Loestrin Fe pill for 7 months and became pregnant! Never again will I take these pills! ## Did you miss any pills, or take them late? Were you on antibiotics at any time while taking them? If not and you still got pregnant, this should be reported to the FDA by calling 888-INFO-FDA.

Hi ! I'm in high school and I got put on Lo Loestrin FE last month. During my first month I never got a period just some light brown discharge for about two days. I'm now on my second week of my second month pack and last week I had some spotting. I have had protected sex with my boyfriend about 5 or 6 times in the past month but he uses a condom and pulls out so I don't think I could be pregnant! I have been very constipated at times and my stomach also is really bloated. I gained a few pounds and my boobs sometimes hurt. I also have been depressed. Are these normal side affects? I'm really worried! please help! thanks <3 ## Have you consulted your doctor? While some of these issues can be normal side effects, a few of them, such as the bloating and breast tendernes...

I have been on lo estrin 24 fe for about 6 months now and my period has never been late. I skipped the brown placebo pills back in Dec. and Jan. because my period came on the first day of the last white pills. This month I took the last three white pills going into the placebo pills and spotted on the last day of the white pills before I was to start the brown pills. I started the brown pills and have not seen my period as yet and I am supposed to start my new pack two days from now which is sunday. Been getting crampy and having signs of my period coming but nothing as yet. If I don't see my period by monday. Def. taking a pregnancy test and heading to my doc's office. ## Meant to say I spotted one day on the last white pill before I started the brown pills and have not seen my...

I started my first pack of pills and I'm on the third week. My period started more than a week ago, and I have been bleeding irregularly and heavily for the past 9 days. The wierd thing is that I don't bleed all afternoon and evening. But when I take the pill at night, I start to bleed heavily a couple of hours after taking the pill, all the way until early morning. Is this break through bleeding or my period? I also can't get any sleep because of the very heavy nightly bleeding. Besides that, it has kept me off my moodswings, headaches, bloating, and cramping. (I am also thirteen years old, and have been going through very heavy, but regular periods for a year.) Thank You for looking at this question! :) ## Hello, Arisa! I have been on Lo loestrin Fe for 3 months now and I only got my period the first month. I have been skipping the while and brown pills because my doctor says they were just reminder pills so I don't necessarily have to take them but I want to start taking them so I might get my period. I was wondering if its bad that I don't get my period? Could not getting it affect my reproductive system and not let me have a baby or a period later on? ## Your doctor told you there are white pills that you don't have to take, either? That is incorrect, only the brown pills in this pack are inactive, there are hormones in the other 28 tablets and you should be taking all of them. Only the 2 brown tablets are inactive placebo, reminder tablets. That means that there is a chance you may be p...

I switched from ortho cyclen to Lo Loestrin Fe because of the low dosage of estrogen, but I have not stopped spotting since I started it 2 months ago. I am now cramping as if my cycle is about to start, but I am in the middle of the pill pack! I do not know what is going on, but I will be calling my GYN next week. Does anyone know when the spotting will stop? ## Went to potty and now I am seeing blood clots! This is aweful. ## Have you contacted your doctor, yet? The spotting like this can be normal for the first 3 months that you are taking a new contraceptive pill. However, if you are finding it to be severe and it's making you miserable, you should definitely discuss it with your doctor, as it may not be the right medication for you to use.

I just wanted to share my experience & warn people not to take this pill. I realize that everyone reacts differently to every medication, but this was truely a terrible experience. I had urinary tract infections contantly, no sex drive, nausea, migrains, darkening of the skin on my face, moodiness way beyond PMS....to the point where I was suicidal. I just assumed I was a depressed person. Since I have stopped taking this pill I dont have any depression, have not had any urinary tract infections or any of the above. Minus the darkening of my skin, which I pray goes away eventually. Anyway, I am married & would rather use a condom than to effect my mental & physical health to these horrible levels. Just a warning :) ## Thank you for sharing your story to help others. While mo...

I finished my last pill two days ago and I won't be able to get a new pack until sunday. I'm worried that I'm going to get pregnant. I was thinking of taking the morning after pill but they always say not to use that instead of birth control. What should I do? ## Yes, it shouldn't be used in place of birth control, because it is not as safe and effective, but it should be used, if needed. It also won't work like regular contraceptive pills to prevent pregnancy, so you would still have to take it, after sex. That's why it's earned the nickname "morning after pill." You have to take it within 3 to 5 days of having unprotected sex. You other options are to just abstain from having sex, until you have been back on your oral contraceptive and taking it str...

I have been on Lo Loestrin Fe for 7 months. For the last three or four months, my periods have been consistently ONE week late: Starting the first day of the second week of my active pills. I've called my doctor and he hasn't gotten back to me, but his assistant who took the message led me to believe that I'm not the only patient on Lo Loestrin Fe at their office who has been having this type of situation. Has anyone else experienced this or something similar? I'm not sure if i should be concerned about getting my cycles back in sync with my pill packs or if I should just accept that week two of my active pills will be my period week....? Thoughts, advice?? ## No, there is really no need to be concerned about it, they are hormonal contraceptives and can affect people dif...

I started my first pack at the end of january. After about three weeks of taking the pill, I missed quite a few and decided to throw that pack out and start over. I did have intercourse without protection after i'd missed some pills and now I am more than two weeks past due for my period! I've taken several pregnancy tests and all say negative, so I wanted to know if missing a period is normal after stopping this pill? ## You may want to have a doctor do a blood test to be certain you aren't pregnant, since some of the over the counter tests don't detect very early pregnancies, however, yes it is perfectly normal to experience fluctuations in your period when taking any type of hormonal contraceptive. Some people may bleed more than usual or experience breakthrough bleed...
