Klor -con20 is killing me. My stomach hurts and I do take with food. Any other suggestions? ## I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. If your doctor approves, you may be able to take it with an additional antacid, that could help protect your stomach more. Are you taking it just before a meal, while eating or after a meal? That can also make a difference, since the latter two can help prevent the stomach irritation, which the FDA lists as its most common side effect.

i have an ileostomy , it has been blocked or stopped up a few times before requiring hosp . stay, should i take klor-con m20 ? will it plug up my stoma ? ## My husband has one of those. It's actually a BCIR Barnett continent internal reservoir. He uses a catheter to empty his internal pouch. He had a traditional colostomy for 20 years until he had this surgery in St. Louis. Now it's only done in Cali and Florida. He also has Crohns and takes Klor kon 40 mg 1x a day. We want to switch to OTC because we recently r having insurance problems.

The generic Klor-Con is not in a powder. Now my grandmother has these pills that she cannot take b/c there is now a generic and she is on Medicare. She cannot crush them b/c she is 97. My 1 year old son got ahold of my mother-in-law's potassium CL 20meq er tablets that expired 8/31/2013. I think he only took one. Should I take him to a doctor? ## How is he doing? Did he suffer any adverse effects? There is no danger from them being expired, however, there can be problems if he gets too much potassium, it can cause heart and blood pressure issues. Doctor has RX'd both lasix and KLOR-CON M 20meg for swollen ankle. Is it necessary to take both medications? Diuretics, such as Lasix tend to really sap your potassium and it could be dangerous, if it drops too low. Are the Potassium CL ER 10 MEQ Capsule and the Klor-con 10 MEQ Tablet the same thing? The Klor-con 10 MEQ Tablet is yellow and round with KC 10 on one side and nothing on the other. The Potassium CL ER 10 MEQ Capsule is blue, oblong-shaped, with AMNEAL on one side and 542 on the other side. ## Yes, they have just been manufactured by different companies, which is normal, when a medication is available as a generic. my Dr Rx 20 mEq tablets with my Lasix 40mg everyday. The mfg companies need to rethink their making of such a ' large and hard to swallow tablet'! I have choked numerous times and have had to be given medical help! Recently my RN crushed my tablet While I was in the hospital and I was found unresponsive. I have chronic abdominal pain 24/7, gastroparesis, gerds, and IBS. Remember the majority of K+ users are the elderly who have a difficulty swallowing!!! I'm sorry, but as listed by the FDA, this is a very potent potassium supplement and there is nothing available over the counter that is comparable. You'd have to take far, far too many of the over the counter supplements to be equivalent. Thus, it would be best to pick up the prescription and take it according to your doctors instructions. These are known to cause stomach upset, so they shouldn't be taken on an empty stomach and you should not crush, chew or break the tablets. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have potassium level of 3.3 and was prescribed Pot Chlor Er(Klor-Con M20)Tb 20Meq but I have Irritable bowel syndrome and Gerd's and the medicine appears to be irritative to the stomach and esophagus. In addition I cannot swallow such a big thick pill. Is there a substitute which is liquid or powder? ## There are other potassium supplements available over the counter, but to be equivalent to this, you'd have to take a lot of them and the risk of them being irritating to your gastric system will still be there. I have been taking KLOR-CON M 20 meg twice a day. One month ago I was told to increase to 2 20 meg twice a day (80 meg). I have been having what I believe is a great increase in the arthritis in my legs and feet. Could this be from the potassium? ## Hello, Mary! How are you? I'm not sure what information you are hoping to seek in regards to eczema, but based on my research it is not a side effect nor related to this medication in any way. I take Kcl 10 ME to replenish K loss from a water pill. It is costly. Can I get the same replenishment from dietary Kcl such as as is used to replace Nacl? ## Over the counter supplements are only allowed to max out at 99mgs of Potassium, so you may need to take several to keep it up that way.
