Is It Hypertension Or Hyper-anxiety

Updated

So, when hypertension is a misread diagnosis and Losartan is prescribed, fluid retention occurs. HCTZ is added to no avail then doubled. Retention continues. Before Losartan, BP avg to 160/100. After, 160/90. HCTZ added, 140/90. HCTZ doubled, 110/87. Remove Losartan and HCTZ, 130/80. A misdiagnosis can be deadly. Not understanding your med cocktail is just as deadly. Mine was a case of hyper-vigilance brought on by bad medication complex. Doctors miss this daily. I tried with 6 doctors who kept going with the hypertension conclusion. Once I stopped the bad medications, I was fine. Don't always trust a doctor to be correct. They don't always have the time to do the correct research. Do your homework. It's your body. It's your responsibility.

Yes, it is wise to always be your own advocate and ask questions.

However, not everyone develops fluid retention from taking Losartan, even if they don't have high blood pressure. It is a possible side effect, as reported by the FDA, it may also cause nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension.

Are you still taking any blood pressure medications or have you stopped them all?

Nope. My thought was that two medications were clashing. 300 mg of lamectil ( in two daily doses ) was prescribed for mood. My daily routine already included 300 mg of mysoline 100 TID. They created a false read of hypertension. Even after given the dual course of BP med, the diastolic pressure never budged. Diuretic did nothing for the fluid retention. BP now is 130/80 no fluid retention. Bottom line is that people need to become self advocates. They need to do the homework before paying a doctor to make them sick. My doctor is not a bad doctor. She's the best I've had in half a lifetime. She just doesn't know me yet.
