I am 56 years old. I have been on Angeliq for just over 6 years and i feel i would like to stop the medication. My doctor said I can stop taking Angeliq in the Winter so as to not have to endure any sweats or hot flushes if they occur. So i am debating whether to stop at the end of May (I live in South Africa ). I would like to know if there will be any other symptoms I may experience, like bleeding and will it be heavy and will it happen every month thereafter? Will there be anything else that will affect my daily life and more importantly will it affect my very demanding job of being the PA to the CEO of the company I work for? Thank you.

Hello, Chantal! HOw are you?

You may experience bleeding from stopping it, but there's no way to say if it will be heavy, or how long it will last, but normally, when a woman is postmenopausal, it only occurs once.

You may also experience headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms as reported by the FDA.

Are you on any other medications?

Do you still get your period monthly. I have the worst time dealing with that!
