Hi Tech Buperenorphine

Hi I have been taking the hi tech bupe (white pill with 8 and arrow) for a couple years and recently this month I’ve noticed that it effects me differently and does not last as long, makes me very sleepy, etc. I was Looking at them to see if they are different in any way and all I noticed is the arrows seem to go in different directions on every pill. Maybe I’m just paranoid but I thought before, the arrow lined up straight with the 8. On these ones, some go straight across horizontal and point to left or right and some point diagonally either with the arrow facing up or down. I’m just wondering if they have always been that way, especially since I’ve felt different I worry about counterfeit meds. I’d hope that couldn’t happen at a pharmacy but who knows these days!

Hi Addie,

I have some questions I would like to ask and some additional information I can provide you that may ease your mind.

When you say that the medication this month has been effecting your differently, are you talking about this one specific filling of your prescription or is this across multiple prescription fillings? I would like to follow up by asking if you have made any changes in your usual diet or have started taking or stopped taking any additional medication?

The reason I ask about the number of prescription fillings is that while the pills are supposed to be manufactured in such a way that ensures consistency there are errors that can be made. While the FDA allows for error up to 5% in both directions of the active ingredients it can be noticeable when they stray below that.

As for the arrow, my background in manufacturing gives me some insight on how this might be happening. Imagine a giant stamp that presses down on the pills while they are still cooling. In order to get both sides stamped they have to flip the pills, while being flipped some of the pills would be moving. This is most likely why the arrow moves. I have noticed on other types of medication that the imprint does not always line up exactly, and ultimately it comes down the way that the manufacturer imprints the pills.

Lastly I asked you about your diet and if you had made any changes to your additional medication. The reason I am asking this is simply to get additional information on what might have caused the sudden change. It is possible that something other than your medication is causing your lethargy.

I would suggest you consult your doctor and pharmacist about your concerns and see what actions you can take in order to remedy this. In the event that you simply got some lack luster pills, I would see if the pharmacy will replace your pills.

Thank you for your response. It’s just been this prescription this month that’s been making me feel different. I feel a little anxious sometimes and sometimes it wears off after an hour when it used to take 24 hours and then makes me very sleepy. The only thing I’ve changed is I have started taking a multivitamin and I’ve been taking Motrin quite a bit. I did Call the pharmacist to see if they’ve had any other complaints or issues from that batch but they said they haven’t. I’ve always been really sensitive to changes in medications, for instance one month I received a different brand from the pharmacy and it did not work well and I had a lot of side effects.
That makes sense what you said about the imprints I’m hoping that is why they’re all different

How long do you have left on that prescription then? If you're nearly at the end it would make sense to simply ride it out and try again with the next batch before making your next move. If you have months worth of the pills it may be in your best interest to see if you can return them to the pharmacy for an exchange, simply let them know that these particular ones are effecting you differently and they may 1 for 1 them.

I did a search to see if your medicine had any interactions with motrin or multivitamins but came up with nothing so that most likely isn't it. Just to be sure, you haven't taken up a new physical regiment recently have you?
