I got hit on the bridge of my nose with a football on 29 Aug. After 4 days I started experiencing discomfort and redness in my right eye and was prescribed the above eye drops. I've been told to use it 6 times a day for three days and to continue reducing the number of times by one every three days. Is it safe to use as I still feel uncomfortable. I also see white flashes occasionally especially when I look down with my eyes. I'm worried. Please advise if there's a problem with my retina or cornea and what should I do.

My mother is 86 years old and has Graves' disease. We heard that on rare occasions if you cough hard your eye can pop out. Is this true? Sincerely, Diana Christiana ## Hello, Diana! How is your mom? No, it is not true. However, her disease should be being treated by her doctor, which may help lessen the bulging. The bulge can also make it harder to keep her eyes moist, so she may need to use lubricating eye drops, or the dryness may irritate them, causing pain and itching, as listed by the NIH. Is there anything else I can help with?

My son is suffering from arthritis. He is also suffering from UVITIS (eye disease). The Eye Specialist has prescribed Predmet eye drops. He has been using the drops for the last two years. Are there any side effects associated with long term use? ## Predmet is an excellent drug but only to be used for a very, very short time -- max 4 days and on the 4th day only 1/2 is given, not the full amount. My Rheumatologist gave me 10 mg for a year and my bones fell apart. Now I'm getting poison to try to get some bone mass back. The MD's have what they call 'medpacks' of Pred. and taken in that short of time should cause no harm. There has to be something else that would help the situation he is in other than Predmet. Just because it's excellent does not mean in the least tha...

I have been trying to find Prefrin as well. I used to use it in the 80's & early 90' then it just went away from the stores. I do know that it was made in South Ft. Worth by Alcon Labs. It is still available ???? It was the BEST eye redness relief product on the market... Thanks ## From what I've been seeing on the web, I don't think it's still being manufactured anymore. However you may want to look into what's called a "compounding pharmacy". I don't know all of what goes into it, but apparently these types of places can formulate something for you, provided that you have a valid prescription for it. The list of ingredients contained in Prefrin Eye Drops are: Phenylephrine hydrochloride (1,2 mg/mL) + Liquifilm [polyvinyl alcohol] (14 mg/mL) + Be...

eye drops that start with the letter d... two words second word start with K ## Hi terri, I've checked out several lists of various eye drop brands, and have yet to come across one that fits your description exactly. Dexamethasone (Ophthalmic) is the closest match I'm finding. This happens to be an ophthalmic corticosteroid, prescribed for swelling, itching, redness and irritation of the eyes. You can read more about it here: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a682869.html Other brand names I found include: Dexair, Dexacidin, and Dexasporin Hopefully this helps to narrow down your search! Please post back if you happen to have any more information to add.

TRYING TO BUY EYE DROPS IN ENGLAND WITH NO SUCCESS COULD YOU SUGGEST AN ALTERNATIVE ## Hi Bunty, May I ask for what purpose or reason you're needing to take eye drops? Knowing this will make it easier to help determine what brand or medication might be suitable. Ultimately though, for something like this you may even have to see a doctor to get a proper diagnoses of what the condition or complication is so they can make an appropriate informed decision on the right treatment option. I hope this helps!

Several years ago a doctor recommended over the counter "briny" eyedrops which I found to be helpful in managing "sandpapery" feeling eyes. Now I would like to use these eyedrops again but I cannot remember the name. I seem to recall they started with UR (not sure). Any ideas? ## No eye drops I found started with "UR", but the following are names of eye drops that I felt most closely matched your description: Murine eye drops (these are made from urine) Brolene eye drops Brimo eye drops Could it have been some sort of foreign brand?

I was just hoping for a few responses on what people found most annoying or inconvenient about putting in eye drops. I am attempting to design a new way of going about the process and any response is appreciated. ## I am really touchy over my eyes - I don't think I'd ever be able to put in contacts or anything like that. When using eye drops I have a really hard time keeping my eye open while waiting for the drop to fall in, so a lot of the time I have to squeeze it so that multiple drops will come out so that I can get at least a bit of the fluid in my eye. Hope this helps.

Hi, every morning and through the day my eyes are burning, itching, and really red. I have read up on different vitamins, but was wondering if anyone has the same problem. Thanks Clare ## Lately I have had the same problem. Although an antihistamine helps with the itching, sneezing due to allergy, my eyes are quite red. Checking with my eye doctor, he suggested that my eyes are dry due to time of year and not enough moisture, so I was advised to use lubricating eye drops about 4 times a day. Picked up over-the-counter eye drops. This has helped a lot. ## Clare, I also have to advise seeing an eye doctor, rather than guessing what's wrong and trying to treat it yourself. Your vision isn't something worth risking to guess work. It may be due to allergies and dryness, like the issu...

its side effects, I am 27yrs 9 months old, doctor has prescribed this eye drops, advised to use this 8 times daily, each times 2 drops, gradually decrease the amount, total course is 15days. along with this he has advised to use pentol eye drops 3times daily for 15 days. can you please tell me what are the side effects it has. ## The active ingredient in Predmet eye drops is Prednisolone, it is a corticosteroid. Since they are drops, little is usually actually absorbed in the body, so side effects are minimal, but may include: eye irritation, blurry vision, nausea and fluid retention. Pentol contains the active ingredient Cyclopentolate and, to be honest, I am not sure why the doctor has you using them regularly, because they are normally used to stop the eye from focusing to enable t...
