I had to have a complete hysterectomy at the age if 19 due to cancer. I was put on estrogen 2mg. I was on it for years and then they found a mass in both breast so I had to have surgery and have them removed. It wwasn't cancer. They rrefused to put me back on hormone replacement so for five years things just kept getting worse. I went to a new ob/gyn and he prescribed me the estrogen/methyl 1.25/2.5. The first bottle i got was name brand and had no issues. Now I had to switch to mail order pharmacy because if my insurance or pay 100% of the cost if I chose to go to a different place so I had to switch. They sent me a 90 day supply of the generic and now i have this awful rash on my chest. I have not switched any bath soap, laundry detergent or anything else. This has been the only c...

I started taking Estratest FS 2 days ago. I was on patches that seemed to have stopped working so I quit using them. I went 3 weeks without using anything. I was getting ill all the time and ZERO interest in sex, as in, I could care less if I ever had sex again and when I did have sex, I was very angry afterwards because I didn't want to have it in the first place. I had no energy and was almost in a depression like state. My doctor prescribed Estratest. The last 2 days I have been in a full on rage, so much that I was on the verge of crying because I am so angry. I don't know if it's because I haven't been using anything for 3 weeks or if it is because of the Estratest. I don't know how long it takes to get it my system and start working. I had a full hysterectomy A...

I was told today to contact my dr to get my hormone meds change because they were no longer making estratest. Can you comfirm this? ## Yes it has been discontinued. Today i got a refill because the pharmacy still has some left. My problem is the color of the tablets is not the same. I am confused as to the strength. These are light green with IP 78. The others were dark green with 1409 on them. I was on Estratest HS (half srength?). These new light green ones say DS (double strength?) My original light green ones say HS. Not sure what to do. Doctor isn't much help. He just says we need to put me on estrdial which has no testosterone and maybe use a cream, but I want to stay on these as long as I can, they work so well! I actually have an orgasm with these!! (I'm 61) ## Yea I was...

Help. Afraid to ask doc, will probably want me to stop EEMT. I'm 69, feeling great, love the heightened libido, which I attribute to the continued use of Estratest / EEMT. Had a lot of trouble getting my last Rx, but it is still on the market, through ANI pharmacueticals. Have been taking it about 15 yrs. But now, have developed a rash, base of spine and nape of neck. Rash not too bad, itching horrid. Noticed that during the 5 - 7 days it is not taken in the cycle, rash starts to go away. Talked to pharmacist. No solution. Told me that Dr's are no longer prescribing estrogens due to all the warnings. Talked to ANI customer service. No solution, other than discuss with Doc. Maybe suggest the HS instead, but I don't want to lose all the benefits I have enjoyed with this medica...

I took generic Estratest HS for years. On the last order after about a week I started to break out into hives. The dermotologist stated it was internal and since I don't take any other medication he suggested I get off the Estratest. Hives are better but not completely gone. How long does it take to get out of your system? I was on the new generic for about a month before we figured out what it was giving the hives. Thanks.

I too have taken estratest in its original formulation for 6 yrs with great results post hysterectomy, in conjunction with a Femring .05. The original medication is no longer available. The generic in half dose or double strength did not work for me, especially in regards to libido. I am now using the Femring in conjunction with a compounded testosterone cream from Koshland in SF at .5 per pump, one pump per day. It has only been a few weeks, but this regime works and I feel as I did using the original estratest. I hope this helps other women who have been affected by this arbitrary pharmaceutical decision with no advance warning to us, other than to pick up your prescription which is no longer the same, be told it's the same, and then have to deal with the agonizing fallout of a ho...

I was on HRT implants for about a year. Had nothing but good results with it, felt great, no weight gain, good drive, lots of energy. The draw back is the cost so my doctor suggested Estratest (generic) I started taking it about two weeks ago, mainly for libido and mental clarity. It makes me dizzy. Even when taking it at night I'm dizzy during the day. I feel the dosage is too low and might need to be increased but with the dizziness only one tablet is causing, I am afraid. Do the symptoms resolve after taking it for some time? ## In theory, they should go away, after your body gets used to it, but with hormones that can take about 3 months. Are you sure that's whats causing the dizziness? What are your blood pressure levels? Have you been dehydrated, at all?

Have been on Estratest HS or equivalent (IP 77) for about 6 or more years. I have no intentions of giving it up any time soon. I am a Nurse Practitioner and have to use my brain for work - as many people do. I could not deal with the hot flashes, poor sleep, lack of concentration and the mood swings of menopause. This med keeps everything pretty level. And, yes, the libido did improve, a nice plus. Did not notice much change when the brand name was discontinued. I may have had a generic all along and not known it. Now I have to deal with the new regulations -- really, does the government agency (ie: stupid bureaucrats) really think that a man would take a dose of Estrogen just to get the little bit of testosterone that is in this tablet? Can this be reversed? Please?

I just picked up a prescription for what I thought was estratest 0.625. This pill is oval aqua colored with m 77 on it. Can you tell me the strength of it. I had a hysterectomy 11 years ago. I slight scare last year. A small cyst on my right breast. The dr. wanted me to come off hormones, but I have a lot hot flashes and night sweats, with vaginal dryness that is extreme. I'm concerned about taking hormones but don't know what else to do? Any ideas? ## Does it also have an IP on it? If so, it contains 0.625mgs of Estrogens and 1.25mgs of Methyltestosterone. Is that the dosage you are supposed to have? ## started taken estrogenmtest on 10-1-12 how long will it take for it to increase my sex drive? ## Please help me to compare the amount of estrogen in estradiol 1 mg.and estrogen ...

I had to chang to this medicine because I can no longer get estratest. I continue to have pain as if I have a urinary tract infection. The doctor said it was from dry vagina. I have never heard of that. Is this a side effect of this medicine? The pain is terrible. I feel like not taking the medicine at all. I'm always in pain. My doctor did give me some cream to use in my vagina. ## Im having the same problem. Vaginal dryness, i thought this medicine was gonna stop that but i guess not. I stopped taking the medicine. It also gives me mood swings. Im going back to the doctor in november, hopefully he can perscribe something else. ## If you ladies are still having this problem, or if anyone else is looking for information on this same issue, I have some information and advice to provi...

I have been taking this Medication for along time and all of a sudden the Wal-Mart I get my medicine from is having a hard time finding the medicine. Can you tell me why? ## Hi Alice, In March 2009, Solvay (manufacturer of Estratest) announced that, based on a variety of business factors it would discontinue supplying Estratest and Estratest HS, and will not fill new orders after March 31, 2009. I can only speculate that perhaps the Wal-Mart you were going to was steadily running out of their stocked supply after the drug had been discontinued. Does anyone else here have information on the availability of Estratest?

i am on a fixed income and cant afford my meds each month my medicaid will not pay for my estratest i am trying to find a program that will help me get it . ## I'm sorry, but the only assistance program available from the manufacturer is only for people that have no prescription coverage, whatsoever. Have you talked to your doctor about the problem? They may be able to prescribe something that is cheaper and/or available as a generic. ## Check with Walmart and ask how much the Generic Estratest cost. If you take Estratest HS (Half Strength) you can get a prescription for FULL strength and cut the pill in half. It will last two months. I would do without whatever I needed to to afford this medication. You could even check Canadian Pharmacy prices. Good Luck..

Dark Green Caplet ## What is the dosages of estrogen and metheltestrone in the dark green caplet and the light green caplet? ## Can Est Estrogenmtest causes you to gain weight ? ## I've been taking Estratest for 22 years and haven't gained any weight, but everyone is different. I have been changed to the generic and hate it. The dark green is full strength 1.25 mg and the light green is HS or half strength .0625. Hope this helps. ## I have the break down: "ESTRATEST® Tablets: Each dark green, capsule shaped, sugar-coated oral tablet contains: 1.25 mg of Esterified Estrogens, USP and 2.5 mg of Methyltestosterone, USP. ESTRATEST® H.S. (Half-Strength) Tablets: Each light green, capsule shaped, sugar-coated oral tablet contains: 0.625 mg of Esterified Estrogens, USP an...

My Dr is saying that Est Estrogen Tab Mtest Hs is no longer being produced for use is this true? He also adds that I need to have a GYN prescribe a hormone replacement. He is my primary care provider and has been prescribing them in the past, I would think he could continue to do so. ## Your doctor is usually going to be right about a product no longer being produced; as he would've been contacted by the manufacturer (drug representative) upon writing you a prescription, informing him that they are no longer an option on the market. I did find someone on another thread stating that they discontinued making estratest ds. This could be related to the drug you are referring to? Gynecologist also specialize in this sort of thing, so your primary care doctor probably just realized that t...

green long oval tablet 805 on one side and what appears to be a fancy A on the other side. ## I had complete hysterectomy in 1989. Took no HR after that until I hit 50 and then BAM! So I took Estratest and it worked fast and well for many years. In 2004 the doctor said I should get off it, so I did. Then I went nuts with horrible hot flashes, and decided to get cheaper meds, so they gave me estrogenmtest HS, which is MUCH cheaper. I took only 3X/wk and lately started taking 7 days a week since the flashes came back. I have had headaches and dizziness for days now and even a bit of nausea. I have not gained weight, but I certainly have not lost any weight; I do not eat much, so ... you would expect me to lose something. I never had any reactions to the estratest taken years ago, but now,...

side effects. posibility of dizziness, nausea and fainting? ## I've not heard of it causing fainting, but yes, it does regularly cause nausea, dizziness and headache. All medications can have different effects on different people. You may be on the wrong medication for you or on too high of a dosage. Have you spoken to your doctor about this? ## I was on Estratest HS .0625 mg since 1987 after a complete hystrectomy. The pharmacy took me off and has given me Estrogenmtest HS. Is this the same? I know have tender breast which I didn't have on the Estratest. At the time my doctor told me not to take a generic.
