I currently have a tooth abcess that my endodontist is trying to treat. The problem he is having is that I am allergic to the antibiotics that are best at treating this. I am allergic to penicillin, erythromycin, cephalosporins. We tried cipro but that did not do much after 2 weeks. Is there another antibiotic I can try? ## Are you able to take the sulfa based ones, such as Bactrim? It can cause some nasty side effects and there is the risk of being allergic for about 3% of people, which is why I don't usually recommend it to anyone, but it may be your best option. Learn more Bactrim details here. It's worth asking him about it to see if it may work, anyway.

Will erythromycin-sulfisox susp kill this infection or do i need a stronger antibiotic? ## Hi Janet, From what I could gather, Erythromycin is often a first choice antibiotic against strep throat. I am on Erythromycin 100s twice per day from my doc. My roommate, has a tooth ache or ear ache or something and wants to take one to "give his immune system a boost" he claims. I Don't think just taking one will do that much good, and it might do harm. I really don't know. Should I give him one? ## You are correct, it really isn't going to help and, since it will not be enough to clear up an infection, if one is present, it creates the risk of the development of antibiotic resistant bacteria, which could lead to serious health issues. Your roommate should see his own doctor, or dentist and get proper treatment for whatever is causing the problem. Is there anything else I can help with?

I found a White Oblong Pill With Ec On One Side And E The Other and I am wondering what it is??? ## I located your white oblong pill to be Erythromycin (250 mg). Erythromycin is a macrolide antibiotic used in replacement for people who have an allergy to penicillins. It can be used for dental abscess; chlamydia infection; strep throat; bowel preparation; and syphilis, among other uses as well.
