Will it help with the depression caused by Tomilfin(sp), and not cause weight gain? Also with the cancer meds I am getting hot flashes and bad headaches. Do you have any information on this ## I took Tamoxifen for 5 years along with Effexor XR. The effexor actually helps with hot flashes! I had a positive experience with the combination. Effexor XR will not increase your appetite or make you fat. ## I know exactly what you are going through because I also experienced heavy sweating and hot flashes right after I began Tamoxifen for my breast cancer follow up treatment. I too was going in and out depressions but I didn't associate it with the Tamoxifen because I've had issues with depressions prior to the use of this medication. I was prescribed Effexor to help with the sweats and...

I was taking Effexor 150 mg since March 08, and just yesterday my doctor switched me to Prestiq 50 mg. I haven't been reading too many great reviews about it? Is it very similar to Effexor? I got many side effects with Effexor. Cold sweat, tiredness, no sex drive etc. ## I just started Pretiq today. Suppose to have less side effects then Effexor or Cymbalta. I need to take it for my Fibromyalga and CFS - suppose to lower the PH (what ever that is) and that is suppose to help with the pain. Good Luck! ## This is a SSNRI antidepressant, so its side effects will be similar to other drugs in this class. In addition, there is no way to know how many side effects you may experience, until you actually use it, since they can vary from person to person. ## I started pristiq last about 4 day...

My wife wants to know if essexor is a safe medication for hot flashes?? ## Did you mean the medication Effexor, which contains the active ingredient Venlafaxine? It is an SNRI antidepressant, and as such, it is not approved to treat hot flashes or menopausal symptoms. However, some doctors do prescribe it, off-label, to help with them. Doctors are allowed to prescribe something in this manner, according to their own experience from finding out what other conditions certain medications help with. It may cause side effects, such as: nausea, drowsiness, weight gain and dry mouth. ## The medication in question is ESSEXOR!! For hot flash symptoms. Is it effective and safe??

The Med. (above) was given to me by my pain clinic Dr back in March of 09. It is Effexor XR 75 mg capsules SA Shape oblong, Color Peach. Marked W Effexor XR. 75 Wyeth Phar. Just wondering what this is used for. My Pain clinic Dr. has given me 30 mgs of methadone for past 2 yrs and I found this bottle of pills which is out of the norm because he refuses to ever write for anything other than the methadone. Also I realize the new interfuron (sp) can be used to remove the vast majority of Hep C. (I know of no one that has been able to tolerate it to it's conclusion) But what about the beginnings of Cirrhosis? My gallbladder is well distended with a solitary calcified gallstone. Which the Liver Dr. stated cannot be removed. To compond matters I have this chronic back pain and have had si...

I am 36 and have bipolar II disorder and suffered from it with major depression episodes for the past 20 years. I use Effexor 150mg and Epitec 200mg daily for 3 uninterrupted years now and I use it religiously. I'm very happy with the results and I live a normal life without problems at last! I suffer no major side effects other than inability to have orgasms during sex. Is there any way around this problem or anything I can use to help? I don't want to change my meds, obviously cos it works for me. Please can you advise? Thank you. ## Antidepressants are well known for causing sexual dysfunction. this site is not medical professionals, so we cannot possibly suggest a treatment or solution. Have you spoken to your doctor about it? They would probably have a better idea of how to...

There is NO weight gain, I actually have no desire for food, but I have to eat. Sexually it may slow things down, but doesn't effect me. I have felt nausea, but otherwise feeling great! I workout daily so that helps. ## I have been taking effexor 75 mg for one year and have gained weight. I am thinking about switching to prestique. Is it hard to switch and does prestique also have a weight gain? ## Pristiq contains the active ingredient Devsvenlaxafine, it is an an SSNRI antidepressant. Side effects can vary from person to person, so what one user doesn't experience, another may, this also relates to their degree of severity. Some of the most common ones for this medication may include: nausea, insomnia, dizziness and decreased appetite. Thus, it might not cause weight gain, but...

I took effexor one year ago, started with 37.5 and moved up to 75. It saved my family, and my marriage. I Took it for 6 months and then moved back down to 37.5 then quit cold turkey. Yes, you feel weird (zaps) for a week but it is NOTHING compared to depression or anxiety. I think people are forgetting how they felt when they went on hte stuff. Just pick a week that is non-eventful when you finally go off of it.. It is NOT a big deal when you consider how depression and anxiety can harm your family and the thought patterns of a young child. If I was single, I would not go on a drug...but now that I have children, my job is to show them how to live and be positive, not how to swim in a cycle of depression. For mothers considering this, do a bit of research on the brain patterns of childr...

side effects ## Was just wondering how effective, what side effects occur and other information on sipralex from patients that are on this drug. I have had problems with effexor and celexa ## Cipralex contains the active ingredient Escitalopram, also sold under the brand name Lexapro. It is an SSRI antidepressant, so the same drug class as Celexa, but different from Effexor, which is an SSNRI. Some of the most common side effects include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and irritability.
