Does The Way You Administer Pain Meds Effect A U/a Test Differently Even If You Are Using The Same Amount Prescribed

My sister goes to pain management for severe back pain from an accident. The medication prescribed has no effect if taken orally. A friend suggested administering them differently. She only takes the amount she is supposed to daily, but not orally. When she goes for her urinalysis test will it be inconsistent than if she was taking them orally?

Oh yes. They can tell how much is in your system by a reflection light test. So only follow docs orders. Ask your doctor

no!! but seriously the only reason someone would think about other methods is to get it in your system instantly because it doesn't help more only faster but it also only has a half life taking it those ways so she would have to use sooner then her dose is allowed and overdose is more likely at a smaller dose the orally.

It depends what type of screen is done and what route is being utilized for administering the drug. If it's a blood test it would most likely be consistent but a urinalysis could vary since they're looking for metabolites and it (the drug) needs to be taken orally and pass through the liver to process and produce those. Where as intravenously and intranasally it's going straight to the blood and therefore processing out through the kidneys will have significantly less to possibly no metabolites.
