Coveram 5/5 Side Effects

Side effects of Coveram 5/5: I was taking Zestril 20 mg for many years and my Dr just recently 5 weeks ago suggested I change to Coveram 5/5. But since making the change I suffer from continuous mild headaches, slightly swollen ankles and have now developed rashes around both ankles. I had absolutely no side effects from the Zestril and only changed because my Dr advised me that Zestril was an old type of medication! I am 71 years of age and have suffered from mild hypertension for over 20 years. I want to go back to taking Zestril but just concerned about the transfer process. Should I just stop taking the Coveram and just start the Zestril the following day? Thanks for your advice.

Hello, Tony! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems you're experiencing.

However, according to the U.S. FDA those can be normal side effects of this medication. You may also experience dizziness, headache, increased urination and dehydration.

You should consult your doctor, before switching back to the Zestril. I wouldn't call it an old type of medication, it is still used very commonly.

Are you on any other medications?

This also happened to me. My doctor changed my script 5/5 to 5/10. Swelling ankles and rash, I have now gone back to 5/5 and all is good.

My Dr prescribed Coveram and even though my blood pressure is always normal, I do have a history of heart problems.

I have decreased kidney function and have recently had my coveram medication increased from 5/5 to 5/10. I am experiencing uncomfortable edema, headaches and frequent need to urinate at night. Will these symptoms subside with time or should i ask my doctor to change my medication entirely?
