Does anyone know where one could obtain glutethimide or it's brand name Doriden (CIBA Company)? Am in Canada where Doriden was discontinued in late 1980s and I was told Doriden discontinue was international. Perhaps there is now a generic form containing glutethimide available now as I would assume CIBA trademark rights would have by now expired. As the benzodiazapine replacement meds for Doriden are more addictive and dangerous (especially if mixing with alcohol & other drugs) it sure would be great to be able to go back to Doriden or glutethimide which were more effective and safer. A shame that the public was switched over to benzodiazipines (i.e. lorazapam, diazapam) when a better/safer product was available all in the name of profits and economics. Any help out there is mos...

I have an eye infection. I was given Codoxol, Ranfen and Macropen. What are these medications used for? ## Hi, I have a back pain, neck, shoulders and now my urine is burning. I was given a Codoxol dose to drink. Is this gonna help me? ## Codoxol is listed as containing Codeine, Acetaminophen and Caffeine, so it is used to alleviate pain. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Ranfen is listed as containing the active ingredient Ibuprofen, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that's used to treat pain, fever and swelling. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased ...

Hi all, I’ve run out of Codeine which I take for pain. Can I take Tramadol until my new prescription arrives? ## Technically, this can be done, but you should only do it, if your doctor feels it is safe for you. The FDA warns that Tramadol, and Codeine carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Ref: Tramadol Information Are you on any other medications?

Pill is from Mexico round white pill RGM on one side and A025 on the other side. I got it from a pharmacy in Mexico and they said it was codeine 60 mg. I can't find it nowhere on any site do I know what it is? ## Hi makayla, Based on my research, I am led to believe that it is a 60mg codeine phosphate pill manufactured by Crescent Pharmaceuticals. It's not 100% definitive yet, but their 60mg tablets are described as follows: white, round, tablet with A025 engraved on one side and the company logo on the other. I haven't actually seen an image of the pill, but I'm assuming their company logo involves RGM since some of those letters are included as a part of their company's address (Overton Basingstoke, Hampshire RG25 3ED)... the only discrepancy I'm finding is tha...

Does this pill have codeine in it? It's a white pill round with 013 on one side and a triangle with a lower case p on the other. ## Hello, Lyle! How are you? No, this tablet is manufactured by Rugby and they list it as containing 500mgs of Acetaminophen, which is a generic for Tylenol. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, and headache. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Is it a Tylenol #3?

Help me find out what it is. I know they are atleast 15 years old. ## I'm sorry, I've done some searching, but I can't find anything. Being that they are older, they wouldn't be included in our current databases, if they are something that was discontinued. Where were they found? ## It’s pure codeine. Very dangerous do not take it.

approx 7mm in diameter, one side is plain the other has a line across with CD on the top and C below the line. ## Hi Peggy, The closest match I've been able to find is Co-codamol with (8mg) of Codeine + (500mg) of Acetaminophen. It is a round white pill with CO over COD. Do you think this could be your pill? Co-codamol (BAN) is a compound analgesic consisting of a combination of codeine phosphate and paracetamol (acetaminophen). Co-codamol tablets are used for the relief of mild to moderate pain when paracetamol or NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, aspirin or naproxen alone do not sufficiently relieve a patient's symptoms. Co-codamol is marketed under various brand names in addition to the generic name. Side effects: Side effects can include constipation, skin rashes, dizziness, sedatio...

Is this for severe hip arthritis? Dr. 1 said I need immediate hip surgery. Dr 2 said arthritis, no immediate hip replacement needed. I am out of 50/50 codeine and diclofenaco. Diclofenaco is not working for the pain, even though the pain has reduced after 14 days post-injury. ## Hello, Diane! How are you? No, this medication contains a complex of B vitamins and a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, so it isn't likely to help much with severe pain. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Given that the 2 doctors you've consulted have disagreed, I think it would a good idea to consult a third, to break the tie, so to speak, but make sure to see a specialist. Is there anything els...

I have found a very chalky white looking pill that has been split in half down and score, it is round and has a small number five on it and the one that I found with it is another chalky white looking pill With the score also down the middle, it is around but it has a small number six on it. They were all broken in half so it’s hard to tell. ## The highest dosage of Codeine in one tablest is 60 mg.

I have been on 10 mg oxycodone and codeine #4 for 10 years and now I'm sick of it. I was told kratom is good for pain. Does anyone know if it really works? Pain meds don't work any more and I want off of pain killers. ## I have been looking at kratom forums on the web seeking alternatives to pain pills. I'm getting mixed opinions on it being effective for pain issues. There are online vendors who feature an option of buying a few different strains which you can sample. Most forum users are seeking a way to detox from the pills using kratom to cope with withdrawal symptoms. ## I believe that Kratom is the best pain reliever on the face of the Earth. I have been a Chronic Pain patient for 20 years and have been prescribed Everything Possible for severe pain. Kratom works bette...

I used to take Doriden for bouts of insomnia but I heard it was discontinued. However, I asked my pharmacy about this and they said they would order it for me. Can it be ordered? ## Hello, Alicia! How are you? Yes, it can be ordered, it wasn't discontinued, just basically replaced by medications that have been deemed safer, so it is rarely prescribed today. ## Hello. I had been prescribed Doriden (generic glutethimide) for a number of years but was forced to switch to a benzodiazapine as I was told the manufacturer Ciba had conducted a worldwide product discontinuation due to poor sales. I did however read your post reply confirming a pharmacy could order this medication upon request? Was curious if you had any additional info or can confirm that Doriden is still available if reques...
