I have been on clopidogrel for 8 years after insertion of a stent. During this period I suffered the most painful cramping in my feet, legs and arms when performing moderate exercise. I recently visited my heart specialist who suggested that I may no longer need to take clopidogrel as a recent angiogram showed no significant blockages in my heart. I ceased taking clopidogrel and no longer suffer any cramping. The suffering I have endured for 8 years while on clopidogrel should be a warning to others. If I had been able to exercise without cramping it may well have been as beneficial as taking this drug. ## Hello, Bill! How are you doing? Wow! That's terrible, I'm glad you finally figured out what was causing it. Muscle aches and stiffness are known side effects, as listed by the...

I had one stent in Sept 2014. Do I still have to take Plagrol? ## Hello, Cecile! How are you? If you had to have a stent placed, then there's a chance you may need to take something for life to help prevent clots. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Plagrol (Clopidogrel) as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and constipation. There's no way to say for sure, but you should take it, if your doctor says it's needed. It is no different than anyone else taking medications for high blood pressure or other cardiac conditions. Is there anything else I can help with? ## How do I differentiate the drug Cetirizine hydrochloride and Clopidogrel. They all have the same imprint R 196?

After being on this med for 7 years, I was told by my cardiologist to stop taking it. Now I am having various and odd ailments and wonder if they could be related to stopping this medication? ## Hello, Flea! How are you? Yes, they could be related to stopping it. Since I started talking clopidogrel 3 months now my hair is falling out by the handfuls. Is there a substitute for clopidogrel. ## Hello, Wayne! How are you? I'm sorry about the hair loss. There are other options you can try, but most of them can cause hair loss as a side effect, so there's no guarantee that switching will solve the problem. Along with hair loss, other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, easy bruising and increased risk of bleeding. But you could ask your doctor about trying something like Brilliant or Effient. They should be able to prescribe an appropriate alternative. Is there anything else I can help with?
