I just got cheratussin ac and it is very very light pink almost clear, Is this the right color? I am asking because it is not making me drowsy and is not helping my cough very much. ## Cheratussin AC - Syrup contains Codeine (10 mg) + Guaifenesin (100 mg) per 5 mL. As far as I'm concerned, if your label is similar to the one in the link below, then it is supposed to be a very light reddish pink color: NOTE: You may have to scroll down the page to see the label. As you can see, they put "red #40" in the inactive ingredient list. Whether or not the color matches is one thing, but if it doesn't work for you then you need to consider contacting your doctor or pharmacy about stronger forms of this medication. I am allergic to most artificial sweetners, does my Cheratussin AC prescribed by my Dr. have any type of sweetner in it ? Like alot of other things I was hoping there was one with sugar and another with artificial sweetner. I have been sick for 5 days and not sure about this new cough medicine ## I actually haven't been able to find a complete listing of the inactive ingredients, yet. Did you check with your pharmacy? I stop taking CHERATUSSIN AC SYRUP 12 hours ago. I was if was okay to drink alcohol now? ## Hi Kira, Although instructions note that you should avoid alcohol while taking Cheratussin AC (due to an increase in CNS depression), I think if you were to wait a full 12 hours you should be fine. The effects of Cheratussin should've worn off by then anyways. I just recommend using caution and being conscious of how it might be affecting you, so you can make the best judgment of how much alcohol you can safely drink. I hope this advice helps!

does cheratussin look niqrathin, or like a syrup ## Cheratussin ac has a thick liquid viscosity. A possible comparison is that it's thinner and runs quicker than maple syrup but thicker than fruit juice. That's the best analogy I can put together for it. If you happen to stop by your local pharmacy, just pick up a bottle of Robitussin cough syrup and it's pretty much the same consistency. The inactive ingredients in Cheratussin AC contain: alcohol, caramel, citric acid, FD&C red #40, flavor, glycerin, menthol racemic, purified water, saccharin sodium, sodium benzoate, sorbitol solution ....So it will likely be a light reddish pink color, judging from the Red dye they put in it. can cheratussin AC syurp be given to a 6 year old? ## From what I was able to gather Cheratussin AC is used to treat acute cough, mucus buildup and nasal congestion. It is listed in several sites to check with your doctor before administering Cheratussin AC to a child. It is also listed that death can occur if this drug is missused in young children.
