Can Latisse Backfire? (Page 2) (Top voted first)

Updated

I used Latisse successfully for several months & loved the look. But then my lashes started to fall out, leaving me with short stubby ones less full than when I began the latisse. Does anyone know if it stops working, or the body gets resistant to it, or have any of you had the same reaction? Thanks.

Yes, I agree that different medications have different side effects on people. I know some people who have had no problems with Latisse. However, along with this site I have seen other sites where people have complained of shorter or stubby lashes after prolonged used of Latisse. I think most of us realize our eyelashes do shed, but the fact that they were a lot shorter and stubbier and sparser after using Latisse, so much so that we were prompted to see if others had the same problem, shows that this is one of those side effects that happens to some people. Just to clarify, I said 'almost all' my eyelashes. The only time I lost ALL my eyelashes was when I had chemo. With Latisse they were very sparse, short and stubby. Now with Lumigan they are fuller and longer.

I read all the posts and thought I'd chat also about the use of Latiise. I am a Registered Nurse and started using Latisse way after menopause and like you all got great results for approximately a year when my eyelashes started thinning and falling out. I no longer got the great results i loved in the first year. So because of this I know that menopause has nothing to do with the side effect of thinning lashes. I quit using Latisse and now about another year down the road my eyelashes are back to normal. I never used any expired bottles, so expired bottles isn't the cause. I hope this helps people realize its the product. Not menopause or expired bottles.

Yes I agree Latisse used to work great but not anymore. I think they are diluting the serum because let’s face it, Big Corp and Big Pharmacy are thieves. Once they get us hooked it’s all about the money. Greed. That’s just my opinion. But the fact is: Latisse isn’t giving us the results we got previously!!!! And I want to know why.

Anyone experience less/no results from legit drugstore?

Seems I have. Different lot number, called Sandoz, they couldn't care less.

No I have to hunt down the same lot number that worked for me!

I am experiencing the same. Have used Latisse for years. Now it is not working and my lashes grow in weird as well as they don’t curl anymore. It doesn’t sound like using the sister product has helped much to the others in this discussion. I also have noticed lately that my lids are itchy and have a stinging sensation.

Thanks for the info on Biosil. I'm going to stop on my way home from work and pick some up. It sounds like an excellent product.....it certainly can't hurt!

Yes, the rumors are true. Latisse does seem to stop working after a while. I had the most amazing long beautiful lashes with Latisse. People would always ask if they were fake. I loved them so much! Then after a little over a year of use, my lashes started to return to normal. No, it wasn't the general cycle of shedding and regrowth. I continued using the product, but It just stopped working. I continued using it throughout the next year. Tried every other day, every three days, every single day. Nothing worked. =[ So I've just been off the product for about 3 years now.

I'm not too optimistic, but I'm gonna give it another go. Oh how I miss those gorgeous long lashes.! I don't wanna throw 100+ dollars down the drain, but gosh I love the lashes so much, I can't resist one more try.

All the doctors SAY it will work for as long as use it, but it's not true. I doubt the they did the study on people over a several year period anyhow. Even if it did lose it's effectiveness, not like they'd say so, obviously. Ugh.

As they say, if something's too good to be true, it probably is. =[

As per my previous reports, I'm now on my 3rd bottle of Lumigan (started in Jan 2014) and my eyelashes are still thicker. Maybe it depends on how thick your hair is naturally? My eyelashes naturally are pretty sparse as is all the hair on my body. The lumigan makes my eyelashes thicker but not darker so I still need to use mascara to make them more noticeable but when I use the mascara they are pretty thick and long. I haven't found they are going back to being really sparse and I am still using the Lumigan EVERY day, sometimes I forget and skip a day but I usually use it every night before I go to bed. The bottle lasts me over 6 months. I am still happy with the Lumigan so far.

I'm having the same problem, my lashes went from long and beautiful to short and stubby. My batch is 86362. I called Allergan and keep getting passed around. If this is a bad batch they should just tells us, send us a new batch and move on.

What was your batch number?

The exact same thing happened to me too after using Lattise for 4 years . I was told by MD to decrease application to 2-3 x a week once I achieved the length and fullness I wanted. Well now my lashes are short and very thin ;(. Any suggestions? I haven't used Lattise for 6 months - didn't see why I should continue fearful I would end up with BALD eyes. Thanks for any suggestions, Lori

There is a difference between the strength of Lumigan and Latisse. Lumigan is about 1/2 the potency of Latisse and about 1/2 the price. I have been using it for about 2 years now after being dissatisfied with Latisse. (I used Latisse for about 1 1/2 and started losing my eyelashes). I have not had the same experience with Lumigan (I have used it almost daily for 2 years) and my eyelashes are still long. Please see my other comments in this thread.

I've been using Latisse for about 3 mths and lashes have not thickened. Some lashes longer but OMG lashes falling out. Never used before. Was told to keep using a couple weeks ago and now it's worse. Disappointing.

Hey Cat, Lumigan comes in 0.01% and 0.03% Bimatoprost. I suppose you are using the former?

I've read on multiple med sites that the stronger brimatoprost is the more likely you are to have hair loss. I think your onto something!

yes, I am using the .01%. I am still using it almost everyday and have not noticed any lash loss yet. My lashes are a lot longer and a bit thicker. Most noticeable when I wear mascara. I am not a very hairy person anyway so I am pleased with the result.

Hi all. I posted almost a year ago (Nov 2014). Since then, after i used up my last bottle I stopped using altogether. My lashes finally went back to their normal length but I did not have any "balding" as others have stated. I just started using full strength again this week after about 8 months of nothing. I will keep you posted on the results.

Mostly I stopped because I wanted to give my eyes a break, didn't want to reorder based on the posts here, and was tired of the pinkeye look without mascara/makeup.

I use the bimatoprost 0.03% that is about $10 a bottle. It's affordable so I can buy several bottles at a time.

The jury is out.......

where on earth do you get it for $10 a bottle?

Cat, I buy from a company overseas.

Cat, I sent the name of the website but the administrators must've edited it. If you do a web search for bimatoprost, you will find a few places that sell it. Just beware and check the reputation of the seller and any reviews for the online site.
