I take Benicar and it was discontinued by my insurance. I called the manufacturer and they sent me a discount card. With this card all I pay is $25.00 each time I refill. Many drug companies have the same benefit card plan, so please call the manufacturer and see if there is a card available for your prescription. ## Hi franny1, Thanks for sharing this info on how to save money on Benicar. I too am finding that these drug discount cards are the next best thing to insurance when it comes to cutting down on costs. This site also happens to offer a savings card that reportedly helps with up to 15-75% off your prescription. I don't know what your original price was before getting the savings card from the manufacturer, but if you wanted to compare potential savings, you could also try s...

I am taking benicar along with atenalol for high blood pressure. Why do I need to take both. Can I just take one. I am trying to reduce my dependency on drugs ## Hello, Elanda! How are you? How high is your blood pressure? That is what the answer is dependent on. If it was very high, then multiple medications are quite often used to help lower it as fast as is safely possible and, once blood pressure is back under control, medications can be removed, or dosages lowered, as appropriate. Do you also watch what you eat to maintain a low-fat, low-sodium diet? ## Thanks for your reply. Normally my blood pressure is around 140/ 80 range. I started with atenalol and the Benicar was added later. Not sure why. I do watch my salt intake and try to watch what I eat.

HI. I am Brazilian, I'm 70, 79 kilos, my blood tests are good, not practical exercises regularly, but I have a fairly busy life physically here on my farm. Although all of this, I suffer from high blood pressure since I was 25 years old. My blood pressure often is between 155 up to 184 x 103 x92. My doctor referred me CONCOR 5mg + 40mg Benicar HCT + amlodipine 5mg, but these medications do not control my blood pressure. During the day my BP ranges from 154 x 94 coming down till 106 x 61 after a very buzy day and greater work effort. Especially at night, my BP goes up drastically, reaching up to 185 x 103 so I have to take Captopril 25mg and repeat the dose after 40 minutes if not reduce BP. In sometimes used Isordil sub-tong (my BP falls rapidly to 120 x 7 and continues for some time),

I have been given a prescription by my physician for "Pot Chl Powder 20mEq" a month ago and I have been diluting a packet of it in 4 ounces (or more) of water and taking it two times daily. I seem to feel somewhat better; however, I have developed a problem since starting. I should also mention that I am also taking a blood pressure pill called "BenicarHCT'. In this period I have started having serious sight problems. Could this be the problem? ## Hello, Marian! How are you doing? I'm sorry about the problem that you've been having. It is most likely from the Benicar HCT, since the potassium is just a supplement. These blood pressure medications can sometimes cause that in some people who take them and you may need to switch to a different one. What types of visi...

My doctor just changed my prescription of Benicar 20 to Losartan 50 because my insurance won't pay for Benicar. Plus I was having irregular heartbeat. Is this a good change? Or am I going to have problems? ## @Lee, I wish I could tell you, but honestly there's no way to know ahead of time how any drug might end up affecting you since everyone reacts and responds differently. As far as potential side effects go, Losartan does still carry the same/similar risks as Benicar. But this doesn't necessarily mean you'll still be experiencing them. The switch from one medication to the other shouldn't be too far off the edge, since both medications are in the same class of medications called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. They both work by blocking the action of certain ...

Medical provider disallowed my prescription for benicar. Wanted to switch me to Diovan. Purchased 90 day supply of Benicar 40 from Canadian source but its a different shaped pill and a different manufacturer. Olvance Olmesartan Medoxomil 40 mg. Anyone take this stuff ?? Any feedback would be appreciated, ## Hi Greg, Is the site you purchased your meds from reputable? I'm pretty sure that the difference in shape is only because of the different manufacturer. I have heard that the Benicar and Olvance (Olmesartan) are basically the same thing, the only difference may be the "inactive" ingredients. What is the name of the manufacturer who makes the Olvance (Olmesartan) you purchased? I may be able to find their contact information for you if you'd like to call them about you...

has anyone gotten insurance company to pay for Benecar (olmesarten) ? Mine changed me from Benecar to Losarten-just not the same effects. The benecar controlled it better and NO SIDE EFFECTS. Losarten is making me fat and my back hurts terribly and AI have a headache. ## There are many other medications on the market that will treat the same conditions that Benicar and Losartan treat. These are ARBs and you can learn more about them and the other medications available in this class ARB here. And other to treat hypertension and cardiac conditions drug details here. It does sound like you are getting all the bad side effects of the Losartan, I did the same thing with several of the other blood pressure medications that I tried and had to switch several times until we found ones that worke...

Doc lowered it to 10 mg..got me down into the 120's/65's which is great ! need to know all possible side effects..including not being able to get a full nites sleep or even 1/2 of one ..2/3's of the time since switching to 10 mg..feeling of anxiety as soon as I start to fall asleep..What meds are safe to take for this occasional anxiety feeling while on benicar ? ## You can learnBenicar side effect information here. As to the anxiety, has your doctor made any suggestions? There aren't any interactions listed between Benicar and Benzodiazepines that are commonly used to treat anxiety, but your doctor has to decide what to prescribe. Is that the only time you experience it?

I am taking 40 MG of Benicar. It has gotten expensive. What is a substitute for it that has little side efects. ## Have you spoken to your doctor about it? All medications in this class carry approximately the same risk of side effects. Cozaar, which contains the active ingredient Losartan, is available as a generic, so you may want to ask your doctor about trying it.

I've been on Benicar 20mg. for 1 mo. and just had it upped to 40 mg. B/P is coming down; but I have daily sinus-type headaches and serious shoulder/neck muscle pain. Is this normal? ## Yes, those are normal side effects for most blood pressure medications. I've been experiencing something similar and I just started Atacand a few days ago, it is in the same class of medications. These types of side effects usually wear off once your body adjusts to the medication, but you may experience them, again, whenever you are put on a higher dosage. From 20mgs to 40mgs is a pretty high jumps, so it is not surprising that you are getting some side effects. These medications are usually titrated up very slowly. For instance, I am starting at 4mgs, twice a day, for a week, then I got to 8mgs ...

Is there a genaric Benacar available? ## The corrected spelling of this medication is Benicar and it contains the active ingredient Olmesartan. It is used to treat high blood pressure. A generic form of this medication will be available in 2016 once the patent expires.

What are the possible side effects of this drug? ## Has anyone you know experienced non-stop mild dizziness with Benicar? Any alternative medications prescribed that do not cause dizziness? ## Benicar 20 mg is being taken as well as Lipitor and a 360 mg aspirin. Can this have an effect on male erection, where it is initially fine but decreases as activity intensifies? ## Can benicar hct 40/12.5 taken long enough cause ulcers?

WHITE HAS C15 ON THE BACK. OVAL SHAPE ## Pill Image This is Benicar 40mgs, Olmesartan. This is used to help lower and control high blood pressure. ## In addition to lowering blood pressure, Omesartan, also known as Benicar, has a tremendous affinity for the Vitamin D receptor (VDR). It is able to re-activate receptors that have become blocked by other substances including excess vitamin D precursors and a bacterial metabolite called capnine. These prevent the VDR from functioning to produce natural antibiotic compounds and control other important processes. Olmesartan helps to reverse the blockage - it's a very important drug with effects that go way beyond blood pressure reduction and clearly can be helpful for many autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. Research is active in this...
