I have been taking Belviq for almost 3 wks now and dont feel it working like it should. I have Lipozene that i bought a gew mths ago and wonder if its safe to take both together? ## Hi Stacey, According to umm.edu's drug interaction checker, there are no interactions listed between Belviq (Lorcaserin HCl) and Lipozene (Glucomannan). Based off this info alone, it doesn't seem like there would be any issues with taking them both together. However I still think it would be wise to inform your doctor of anything else you're taking alongside whatever he/she prescribes... that way your doctor can at least have your back if anything rare/unusual does happen (god forbid). I hope this info helps!

Is there an fda approved diet pill that works. PHEN PHEN years ago really worked. I'm particularly interested in one that reduces appetite and increases seratonin levels. ## Hello, Jeannene! How are you? Yes, there are several that are available that have FDA approval, including Belviq, Orlistat, Contrave, Phentermine and Qsymia. They all have various possible risks and benefits, so only your doctor can help you decide which one is safe for you to try. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, nervousness, insomnia, anorexia and hypertension. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been on belviq for 6 months, have lost 30 pounds between August 2014 & December 2014. Since then I have lost and gained the same 2-3 pounds. I log food intake with a 1250 cal low carb diet and with cardio & strength training 3-4x a week. I drink plenty of water daily 75-90 oz. there are several women who are in the same holding pattern, why? ## Hello, Sherry! How are you? Hitting a plateau point is pretty common in any weight loss regimen. Your body gets used to whatever you've been doing and hits a point where it starts trying to maintain, rather than keep losing. It's just a biological protection mechanism. Many have reported hitting it for awhile, then having improvement again around the one year mark. Some people even worked with their doctors to take a break ...

I took my 1st dose of belviq yesterday and 2nd one this morning. I have already had 3 instances of horrible diarrhea. Is this common and does it go away? The only other side effect I feel is a slightly irritated throat. ## Hello Newgirl70! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem you've had, that would be very annoying. Diarrhea is a common side effect of Belviq, as listed by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, hypertension, rash, back pain and fatigue. They are usually transient and should improve or go away entirely, once your body gets used to the medication, but that may take about 4 to 6 weeks. If they get worse, or continue past that, you should speak to your doctor. Is there anything else I can help with?

I'm not losing much weight. No side effects. Been on for 3. Weeks approx ## I'm talking about Belviq... I've been on 3 weeks. Not working. Anyone have good results after a month?? ## Hello, Barb! How are you? How much have you lost? Are you also getting exercise and eating healthy? Not every medication works for everyone that tries, but you should give it about 4 to 6 weeks to each its full level of effectiveness in your body. If you're not seeing any improvement after that, then you should consult your doctor. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Belviq as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, sweating and anorexia.

I am so sleepy after taking belviq. Had to reduce to once a day. My blood pressure is low, too. Does anyone have same side effect? ## Hello, Alex! How are you? The low blood pressure is very odd, usually Belviq causes the opposite issue. What are you blood pressure readings? The same for the drowsiness, but there is a chance it could be causing low blood sugar and that may doing it. This might not be the right medication for you to take, you may need to try something else. ## That is not true. Belviq does not cause an increase in blood pressure. ## I took Beliviq two (2) days, felt terrible. I took my blood pressure about an hour after taking Beliviq the second evening and it was very low 72/54.... The next morning is was up to 86/66. I didn't take it the next day and my blood press...

Can I take the Belviq before bedtime will it affect my sleep? ## Hi Kelly, From what I've researched, the manufacturer's dosing instructions that are listed in the Prescribing Information, state that you're supposed to take one 10mg tablet twice daily. It doesn't specify if any of the doses are best taken at night or during the day. However, if I were to adhere to these instructions, it would make sense to take one in the morning hours and one in the afternoon or evening hours in order to spread out its effects throughout the day; unless instructed to do otherwise by your doctor. Not being a patient, I don't know if Belviq has a stimulating effect, but if it does, that would probably be best determined in the morning dose so that you can get a feel for how it works e...

I am age 65 and have had eye floaters for a while. I have just started taking Belviq (Lorcaserin HCL) about 1 week ago and have noticed more floaters. I generally expect more floaters as I get older. Call taking Lorcaserin HCL increase or worsen eye floaters. ## Hi Bill, From your description it sounds to me like Belviq could very well be exacerbating the condition. According to research on NIH.gov, Belviq (Lorcaserin) can reportedly cause blurred vision or other vision related changes (including hallucinations). My suggestion if any of these symptoms were to become too persistent or severe, would be to contact your doctor immediately, just to be on the safe side. I hope this helps and hope your symptoms improve!

Trying to find a doctor in Ventura who would prescribe it? ## Hello, Chonch! How are you? I'm sorry, but there is no listing of doctors according to what they will or will not prescribe that I can refer to for you. Technically, any doctor can prescribe, it's really a matter of seeing a doctor and discussing it with them to see if they will do so. Belviq is manufactured by Arena Pharmaceuticals and they list it as being used to aid in weight-loss. Typical side effects as reported to the FDA may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and back pain. Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area? Are there any weight loss specialists that might help?

I work a night shift so that means I'm a night owl. I wake up at about 11 and take a pill. I work all day into the night. if I'm going by the 12-hour standard that would put me at 11 p.m. To take another pill. I'm usually in bed by about one or two. Does it make sense to take another pill when you're just going to sleep in 2 or 3 hours? ## Hello, Shawn! How are you? You should follow your doctor's instructions for taking it, so if you've been told to take it twice a day, then please do so. The reason is because many medications need to be maintained in your body at consistent levels, in order for them to be effective. So, time of day actually doesn't matter. According to the FDA typical side effects of Belviq may possibly include: nausea, dizziness, anorexia,...

Looking for a Dr. in Jackson Mississippi that will prescribe Belviq. ## I got mine from My OBGYN, Dr. Jennifer Shea Moses with Southern Women's Health Group. The are located in the Suites next to River Oaks Hospital off of Lakeland Dr. She is tough though. Your BMI HAS to be 30% or higher. I started out with adipex but had horrible side effects, but I had lost weight while on it. My BMI was just below 30% and she wouldn't give the Belviq to me (until I begged and pleaded). Plus she is an awesome doctor to have. Keep in mind that if your insurance does not pay for it, you will be paying about $250 for a month's supply.

Hey, all. I started Belivq on 11/26/14, it is now 12/3/14. I know that is not a lot of time. I am an eighteen year old girl, in college full time plus working full time. I weigh 210. I haven't lost a single pound. I don't know if it works or if I need more time. I Am going through depression, have been for two years. I also have a slightly elevated thyroid. My questions are: how long does this medicine usually take to be in effect? Since I am full time, the only things I eat are sugars and whatnot, how can I change my diet while on a college fund(in debt, not a lot of money)? I also have adhd so can I take my adderall with this drug? Should I keep going on Belivq or should I stop taking it. ## Hello, Patience! How are you? I'm sorry that it doesn't seem to be working for...

So I am a type 2 diabetic on the insulin pump. i just had a baby 3 months ago and was actually left thinner than before I was pregnant. Pre-pregnancy I was 219, post-pregnancy I was down to 180. Mostly the breastfeeding helped with that but couldn't after a month, milk supply went away. Saw my dr this week and got the free trial but so far I think I'm actually hungrier and still craving sweets at night. My question is, does this drug take effect immediately or is there a time frame where my cravings will start to get better? My plateu has always been 180, I'm now 186 and would love to get rid of the diabetes for good!!! So how do I know if the medicine is actually working for me or do I have to wait a little longer? ## Hello, Briana! How are you? Congratulations on the baby!...

I need Belviq for severe obesity problems ## Hello, Minchi0ne! How are you? I'm sorry, but this website does not manufacture, prescribe, nor sell any medications or products. It is an information only resource. Belviq is indicated as an adjunct to increased activity and a reduced calorie diet in adult patients with an initial BMI of 30kg/m2 or 27kg/m2 in the presence of another comorbid condition, such as type 2 diabetes or hypertension. Its side effects may include nausea, headache, hypoglycemia, back pain and muscle spasms. Have you consulted your doctor? What else have you tried to aid in weight loss?

Looking for doctor in lexington ky to prescribe belviq ## I'm looking for a doctor as well. We live in the Ontario, CA area. We have kp HMO and when I asked my doctor if she could give me a prescription, she said she couldn't. But, that what she could do was to refer me for counseling/group to show me what I should be eating. That's NOT what I need! I need something to help me curve my appetite. ## Hello, Felicia and KD! How are you both? In the U.S. any doctor can prescribe it, but you may be referred to a specialist, if you have a weight problem. Medications, such as Belviq, are not appropriate for everyone. It is also used as an adjunct to a reduced calorie diet and exercise plan. It also requires that your BMI exceeds a certain number, plus other risk factors are also ta...

Hello, I'm on day four of Belviq and I still feel really hungry especially sweets ## Hi Melissa, From what I could gather, Belviq (lorcaserin) is meant to be used together with diet and exercise to treat obesity. However, if you aren't feeling satisfied with your daily caloric intake, it sounds to me like you may need to make some adjustments to the portion sizes that you do eat throughout the day. When it comes to sweets though, I personally find that increasing my protein intake helps cut down on these types of cravings. There are numerous types of whole-food meal replacement bars available at natural grocery stores that are both sweet and also have a higher protein content to help curb your appetite. Additionally, eating more sweet fruits (such as medjool dates) are another e...

Been taking Belvic for about two weeks now. I am not diabetic, do not take any drugs for anything and so far, I think Belvic is amazing!!! I am over the BMI norm...46 to be excact, and I have had NO craving for food at all. I now have to teach myself what foods I need to eat and size up the portions. Never in my life have I felt this way. One little problem though. I recently developed an URI (upper respiratory infection)which is probaby making me weak. I do experience very small off/on headaches. I do certainly think this is worth it though. I will see my Dr. next week for the first f/u. So far I have lost 20 lbs. I also learned how to make my treadmill work....plug it in and stand on it..... ## Hello, Wiznap66! How are you? I'm very glad that this medication is working for you, so...

When should I take my two doses of Belviq? My prescription say "twice a day". When I called the pharmacist, she told me she wasn't sure since the medication is so new but suspected that every 12 hours would be best. ## Hello, Connie! How are you? Yes, that's usually what twice a day means, every 12 hours, if nothing else has been specified. This medication may cause side effects, such as nausea, anxiety, sneezing and nightmares. Is there anything else I can help with?

I would like to try it but I don't know who will prescribe it. ## Hello, Tiffany! How are you? Any doctor can prescribe it, there aren't any restrictions on it, from what I can find. However, there are prescribing parameters, it should only be prescribed for obese patience that also have one weight related complication, such as high blood pressure or diabetes. Side effects to the medication may include nausea, headache, nausea and constipation. Do you currently have a doctor that you see regularly? If so, you may want to ask them about it.
