Axiron Withdrawal?
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I've been taking Axiron 2 pumps per day for 4 months now and the results have been nothing short of amazing. Much more energy and the libido of a 25 year old. Doc ordered a blood test and said T-level is "off the chart" and cut the dosage 50% last week. Now I angry all the time as well as sad, depresses and frustrated. This sucks!

Anyone out there had a similar experience?

@Ed,

Sorry to hear about your experience with Axiron. It sounds to me like your levels immediately went plummeting down as soon as he lowered your dosage; especially since your body could've possibly stopped producing it's own testosterone four months into treatment. Maybe cutting it by 50% was just a little too drastic and perhaps starting with a 25% cut would've been more appropriate?

Have you spoken with your doctor since the change? It may be a good idea to keep him informed with how you're feeling so he can start thinking twice about his determinations from that moment forward.

The same thing happened to me. My first level was 238 and I'm only 36. I used two pumps of axiron every day for a month. My T level went up to 719 and I felt great. The PA told me to go down to one pump a day and 2 pumps if I felt that I needed it. Levels went down to 358 then 77. I was sent to a Urologist. He said that my body was still producing some testosterone at first and that it will eventually stop because of Testosteone replacement. I was told that testosterone replacement therapy was a "one way street " and that once I start I can't stop. I went back to 2 pumps a day for 4 weeks and my level is only 156 now.
You could ask for your levels to be checked. They might be lower now since you lowered the dose.
