So I've got 7 piercings in my ears, all of which were perfectly healed up, however about 5 months ago I was put on Roaccutane (Isotetrinoin) for acne. Since about a month or so into the treatment, my most recent two piercings (which had healed up before being prescribed the medicine) have done nothing but leak yellow-green, and sometimes red pus. They're sore and swollen, but the lobes themselves aren't red. I've surgical titanium hoops in them, changed from studs for easier cleaning after the problem began, and I use a hot, sterile compress on them daily, sometimes several times a day, to draw out the dirt and pus from the piercing hole itself before applying Fucidin, given to me by my GP. However, even after all this, they still insist on getting infected alternately. ...

I was on accutane for 7 months 80mg per day. I was having hormonal breakouts that were a constant problem for me. I had tried everything before deciding to take this medication. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I had dry lips and skin but nothing major. I have been off it now for 2 months and love my results. I have had no major side effects or problems from this medication. Remember everyone responds differently to medication. Some could have more reactions than others but I was happy with my outcome and I am so happy this medication is here for the people that struggle with clear skin. ## Hello, Lexi! I am so happy to hear that you had great results with it and no complications! :-) Thank you for the wonderful post. Usually, the only posts made about any given medication are by tho...

I'm 19 next month and have had quite bad acne since I was about 13. Over the years its gradually gotten worse with scars and larger spots. I've been on dianette (contraceptive pill),face washes (zyneryte),benzyl peroxide (which burnt my skin) and antibiotics which have all failed to help long term. I have been on new antibiotics for about a week now (lymecycline) and i'm also using a vitamin supplement called skin accumax (2 tablets twice a day) aswell as using dermalogica to cleanse and moisturise my face. I have seen some improvement in the time that I've been taken the two tables together but I had a doctors appointment this morning and he is suggesting I go on Accutane. when he told me the side effects I was very concerned as I don't like the thought of my skin g...

I took Accutane in the late 80's and ended up with Ulcerative Colitis - had to have my large intestine taken out. Roche developed this medication for cancer treatment during the 1970's and internal studies at the time, demonstrated a link between the medication and Inflammatory Bowel Disease. You can get it while taking the medication or you can develop it many, many years after you take it. Roche pulled the medication off the market in the United States during 2009 because of the strong link to Infammatory Bowel Disease. Currently, there are nearly 8,000 cases filed in the State of New Jersery Civil Court under a Mass Tort system. If you are taking the Generic version currently, you'll never be able to sue Roche or the Generic Companies - most states do hold alllow the Gene...

I have been on 40mg/per day for 25 days so far, and a big improvement in my skin already. The first two weeks my spots did get worse but i was prepared for that, then suddenly around week 3 my skin stopped producing oil and since then the spots have dried up and started to just disappear. For me, the side effects aren't bad, just make sure I have lip balm on me all the time 'all. I had really extremely oily skin before and moderate acne under my jaw and sides of neck with the occaisional horrible big one on my cheeks, as well as pimples on back back and shoulders. Now my skin is matte all day long dont ever need to wipe it or anything and no new spots for a week now. The previous spots in all places (face, neck, back, shoulders) are just gradually drying and fading away and peel...

I took accutane for 1 year when I was 16 years old. While the results were great, I never knew the trouble I would later encounter. It took my husband and I 5 years to have our first child after countless time and money at an infertility doctor. This doctor had a the question " Did you ever take accutane?" on his medical registration form. That was the first aha for me concerning infertility and accutane. Since then I have had surgery for endometriosis, been diagnosed with PCOS that I have had to be on medication for. has 2 miscarriages and just recently found out that my thyroid has failed and am now on more medication. I am worried about what other damage this medication has done and when the effects might show up. ## Hi, Troubled! I am very sorry about the problems that you...

I ordered the generic of this medicine. The product I got was a series of sealed ten pack black pills taped to cardboard. Has anyone used this medicine from Zenlabs? What was your experience? ## Hi Jesse, Are you referring to Zen Pharmaceuticals in India? I couldn't find much information on this company, so hopefully the pills you have will work well for you..I haven't used Accutane from this company, but I have used it. It's a very strong and potentially dangerous medication so it should only be used under the care of a medical doctor. When I used this medication I had to have routine checkups and get my blood drawn, are you planning on doing that? Even after all that, Accutane didn't end up working for me- but hopefully it will for you! Accutane can cause extremely dry...

Okay, I've been taking 30mg of Accutane for almost a year now. I'm very pleased with the results. I used to have very oily hair and skin that led to severe acne on my face. No matter what I did, nothing helped until I started using Accutane. I am fully aware that this is a serious drug, and is the last resort for acne problems. The side affects are clearly listed on various websites and on the Accutane prescription itself. I knew the potential health risks and what I was getting myself into. Those who choose to take Accutane are usually warned by doctors and I also would think one would do serious research before taking this drug. It is very unfortunate that people are suing the drug companies that produce Accutane. I don't think it's fair for the rest of us who are gett...

How much fat and what type is best when taken with isotretinoin? What about taking fish oil and flax supplements with the pill? Would that be adequate? ## To my understanding, there aren't any drug interactions between Accutane and 'fat'. If there was, you wouldn't be able to eat much of anything except for fruit and veggies (which is great too!). Although if you are going to add more fat to your diet, it is generally recommended that it be "good fat", such as fish oils, flax seeds, hemp oil, avocados, and other unsaturated fats higher in omega-3's and 6's. In my opinion any of those would be more than adequate to supplement with on a daily basis (in order to help avoid cravings for bad fats). Everyone's dietary needs are different though, so what wor...

ok so im 30 years old, i have bad acne face and my back since being 14, tryed every antibiotic n lotions n potions but nothing worked. been under the demertology for years getting MESSED about, couldnt get prescription so took matters in to my own hands and bought on line from us. they arrived in red blister packets in envelope, been taking for 1 month now no serious side effects as yet except very dry lips, had no major breakouts so so good so far :) ## Please be careful and make sure that you let your doctor know that you've obtained this and are taking it. There are reasons doctors are reluctant to prescribe it. The first is that you can't risk getting pregnant while taking it, it is very well known for causing severe birth defects. And the next reason is due to the long-term...

Son now 35 yrs. took accutane as a teenager. When he was in his late 20's he developed gout. His purine levels were very high. After several yrs of trying to control his levels he recently began taking alpurinol. Could there be a connnection to between accutane and his gout issues ## If there's any thread on here that can provide you with an answer based on personal experience it would be the one linked below with over 1100 replies and counting: Discuss/accutane-long-term-side-effects-191307.htm However I did come across other reviews on Google mentioning that Accutane could cause gout as a side effect. I posted one of the webpages below, but rest assured he's not the only one: ehealthme.com/drug_interactions_side_effects/Accutane-3381259 Legal action has and probably still ...

Hi! So this is my second month of accutane. My first month my doctor prescribed me 40mg per day and I was taking amnestreem. This month she told me to take 60mg/day, 40 mg with one meal and 20mg with the other. The pharmacy gave me 40mg of amnestreem and 20mg of claravis. I asked the pharmacist if this was okay and he said yes but my doctor told me to make sure I take the same brand. The pharmacist couldn't get the same brand in each of the strengths. I've noticed my skin is getting much worse. Is what I'm doing okay?? Is my skin getting worse because of it? Help!! ## Hello, I think the reason why your doctor wanted you to get the same brands of medication might be because of the "inactive" ingredients. Different manufacturers use different inactive ingredients in th...

I'm trying to find an onine pharmacy that sells legit accutane. Two very popular ones that came up were Orderpharma and Aurapharm, and they both claim to sell roccutane, which is the name brand in Europe. Then there were some sites that sold Indian generics. I have read some good reviews about both, but they could be agents that work for the companies. If you have purchased from either site, please do tell on your experience. If you know another good site that has roccutane or a generic brand, I don't care which brand, as long as you know it's legit 100 percent accutane, also do tell. Now I'm sure getting it online will be frowned upon by many, but my derms here are so strict here. They refuse to give it to me even though I've had acne for 5 years. My friend has it w...

Reading through this page I am very sorry to hear the issues that many of you have experienced from accutane. My experience with accutane has been very different. I first started getting acne when I was 13 (I'm 21 now). It started moderately on my forehead. I wasn't too concerned at first and tried some face wash and other topical meds from the drug store. As I got into high school it got much worse and I visited a dermatologist. She prescribed Differin and that was successful at least at keeping it from getting completely out of control, but it certainly didn't cure it. In college I was under a lot of stress and was having some hormonal imbalances and my acne got much worse. I tried so many different products and it finally got to the point where I would pretty much try any...

My son started with acne at the age of 15 and it got progressively worse. He is now 18 and has suffered with cystic acne for the past 2 1/2 years. We tried everything and nothing worked. He did not want to go through this anymore and he decided to try Accutane. I asked him to try seeing a doctor of Chinese medicine, and if it didn't work I would get the Accutane for him. The doctor told him that if he followed his instructions, it would have a good chance of working. He also said that if he didn't see a difference after the first 2 weeks, that it wouldn't work at all. I felt that the doc was very honest. So this is his routine. First, we had to change his diet. As much organics as possible, no dairy, no processed foods, no fried foods, no red meat. Also, try to follow a diet...

I feel so depressed as I'd been accutane for 98 days but the acnes still popping out. anyone experienced this? Is this means that the drug did not work on me? as aftermath every acnes, there are severe red scarrings, esp on my both cheeks and jaws and it is really devastating. ## Are u using other products as well. If so stop. All you need is a daily cleanser for morning and night as well as a plain facial lotion like cetaphil for morning and night. Nothing else. I noticed when I stopped using other products my face cleared up faster using 20 mg per day of Accutane. ## Hi Kay, it starts to clear now, but aftermath the acne, jesus christ. horrible red scarring. and I googled that we are not allowed to do laser when on accutane, it can only be done after 6months of the course. I have taken the Accutane drug on 3 occasions 1990,1997,2008. I have had so many stomach problems that I attributed to something from a Bosnia peace keeping mission because that is when they started. I have Ulcers, a Hiatal Hernia, my gallbladder was removed, unexplained neuropathy in both hands and feet the list just keeps growing. Lately I have developed large masses one in my leg and the other in my back. They did not find the mass until an X-ray showed a cracked rib they believe has to be from trauma. The veins in my neck have begun to bust and this is from the pressure from the mass growing inside of me . The area becomes so hot I feel I am burning up and I sweat until the clothes I wear are soaked through. I did not know that all these things and more come from the drug Accutane u...

Can I take accutane 10 and trimethoprim at the same time..?. ## Hi sonia, Based on my research there are no drug interactions found between Accutane (isotretinoin) and Trimethoprim. This does not necessarily mean no interactions exist, but my sources state that every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is accurate. In conclusion, these two medications are regarded as being safe to take together and shouldn't present any problems outside of the normal side effects associated with each medication. I hope this helps to answer your question! :)
