Why Is Hydrochloride In Pain Meds

I have been taking pain meds for quite some time now, and have been trying to figure out why I'm prescribed generic Percocet with Hydrochloride? I would appreciate any feedback you have. It is just Oxycodone, the hydrochloride is used to designate the specific chemical salt that the medication was derived from, some prescriptions list it, some don't. But, it is the same medication. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. I keep searching and STILL don¨t have a straight answer. I am currently on 30mg, 3 times a day of OXYCODONE (legally prescribed) for horrific back pain..... ¿WHAT is the difference between the 2, if any, besides the NAME? oxycodone AND oxycontin........ If they changed your meds from Oxycodone 30mg 3xper day (total of 90mg a day) to Ocycontin it would be probably be 40mg 2x a day with breakthrough meds. ## Pita's comment is basically true. I have been going to pain management for 20 years. This time around, I got a new Oxycodone Hydrochloride pill marked "RP-20", which doesn’t seem the same as other 20 mg pain pills I've had. Does anyone know if it's an instant release or extended release tablet? ## They are made by rhodes and I believe they are instant release. Mine were anyway. ## I was told by a medical professional I trust it most likely is an immediate release type from Rhodes Pharmaceuticals as they have taken over a large part of making these meds once dominated by Mallinkrodt

Really would like to know what this is because it works. ## This is a bad idea you should never Take medicine prescribed to someone else even if you have same symptoms . There are many factors a doctor has to take ineffect to give you medicine. I am recovering from the Whipple Procedure for pancreatic cancer performed last April. I have severe and at times chronic pain / nerve damage in the incision area. My Dr started giving me inj's. in my Celius Plexus Right Quadrant, every 3 weeks accompanied by Oxaydo 7.5 mg & Butrans 20 mcg patch. My pain is off the charts & just not quite sure if these meds work. I will be getting my 3rd shot next week - I hope it will be better than the last one. The first inj. My roommate keeps taking my medication. Finally I started hiding it. I think she may have found my meds took some and replaced what she took with pressed or fake M/523. The one I think is real doesn't rub off on my hand when I handle them. When I line up the pills all face up with the M/523 showing and then flip them over all the same way, some of the imprints on the back are upside down and some right side up.
