I am 60 years old and lost weight due to double lung infection. Which is now clear I would prefer to put back the Lost 10 to 15 kgs lost ## Hello, Mike! How are you doing? It will most likely just be a matter of time, as your body heals and things return to normal the weight will likely return. It is probably going to just require some patience on your part. Have you consulted your doctor? It would be best to do that, just to be sure there's nothing else going on, but otherwise eating healthy will be your best solution.

Is there a problem with weight gain taking neurotin? Also, I was told it is not a safe drug and has had several lawsuits. ## NEURONTIN FOR MOOD DISORDER ## You are for sure going to gain weight and NEVER feel full on it. Lyrica and gabitril are just the same also you will feel HOT like you are going to catch a fire. ONE NASTY MEDICATION ## I've taken both medications. The Neurotin didn't help at all but I've been on the Lycria for several months now. I've had minor weight gain but have never felt like I was going to catch on fire or even a hot flash. Both of these med's have been used for years. The best thing to do is speak with your doctor. ## The effects of drugs vary from person to person, there is no way of knowing if it will cause side effects or weight gain fo...

I started taking pristiq 5 months ago and since the have gained over 20 pounds! It helps to know that others have had the same problem. It has helped eased my anxiety and really helped the depression but the weight gain makes me more depressed. That's hard to handle. Does anyone have any solutions? ## If you want to stay on the Pristiq, then the best suggestions I can make would be for you to lower your calorie and fat intake, plus to up your exercise. Learn more Pristiq details here. Most medications that act on brain chemicals can cause weight gain and the only thing that will really change it is either switching off of the medication, or being proactive to prevent it. Has your doctor made any suggestions? ## My Dr simply says its not the pristiq. But I have gained 20 lbs since I ...

I would like to know how much weight you can gain on this medication? ## my doctor put me on zoloft and i need to know about weight gain and any side effects it may have ## It really depends on the individual, some people don't gain any weight on it, some people only gain about 10 pounds, and still others continue gaining as long as they take it. According to FDA reports, its other typical side effects may also include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and mood changes. Ref: Zoloft Information The best thing to do is to maintain a healthy, well rounded diet, and get plenty of proper exercise, while you are on it, to help minimize the weight gain side effect. Are you on any other medications?

I've only been on Contrave for 4 days and I've gained 6 pounds. My legs, feet and stomach are swollen, so I assume it's retention of water? Anyone else had this reaction? ## The FDA does list that as a possible side effect, along with nausea, dizziness, irritability, nervousness, and insomnia. Have you consulted your doctor? That is always the best thing to do to be sure. Such rapid weight gain can also be a sign of other potential risky health issues, such as congestive heart failure. Are you on any other medications? ## I have been drinking a ton of water since I started the meds last week. I would be sure you are drinking a lot. That will help with the fluid retention. ## Hello everyone, I am at the beginning of week 5 and have not really lost any weight. Maybe a pound or...

I had a deep vein clot in my leg. after having surgery I started taking Xarelto. Having takin it for 8 months now I have gained 58 pounds, and my heart seems to pump extra hard while trying to do activities. I was an infantry soldier and construction worker so I am used to physical activity. DID anyone else seem to gain weight and hold water? I can't seem to loose this weight. ## Hello, David! How are you? It isn't a listed side effect of this medication, but you are not the first person to post about this problem, which means it most likely is the cause. However, the best thing to do would be to consult your doctor to be safe, so they can check for any other issues that could be causing it. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Yes. How are you doing? Do you suffer from any health conditions? You are still young, so your weight will probably change as you get older. At 18, you're still in a growing phase, even if you don't get any taller and it will take a bit for your body to slow down and settle out. Thus, it might be best to just wait awhile yet and see what happens in another year or two. Have you consulted your docto...

Can citalopram make you gain weight or make it difficult to lose weight ## Personally, I have not found citalopram to make me gain weight. I have been on it for about 4 years did not gain any weight when I started it, nor have I had trouble losing weight when I try ... when I can put the ice cream away, that is :) ## Citalopram is an SSRI antidepressant, so yes it can cause weight problems in some people, but as evidenced by Mariah, it doesn't happen to everyone. Learn more Citalopram details here. The best thing you can do if it's causing you these types of problems is to make sure to eat as healthy as possible and step up your exercise routine. Are there any other questions or comments? ## My personal experience was that Citalopram caused me to gain a bit of weight (11lbs) and...

Sir my metabolism is very weak and am also very weak and thin my age is 22 my weight is 45 ## Hi aman, Outside of using steroids or supplements that increase your appetite, I think the safest way to go about gaining weight would revolve around what you eat on a day to day basis as well as how often you do weight lifting/strength training. If your metabolism isn't functioning at its best, I would also consider taking probiotics and digestive enzymes to help process the foods you eat more efficiently. High intensity interval training is another type of exercise that can rev up your metabolism in a way that encourages fat loss and promotes muscle growth. So as you can see there are plenty of little things you can do to help get you going on the right path. If you have any other questio...

My hematologist wants to switch me off warfarin for one of these three medications - Eliquis, Pradaxa, or Xarelto. I have a history of CVT and a chronic blood condition. Bottom line, whatever he switches me to, I'm likely on it for a long time unless I have complications. But that's the thing. I seem to always be the person who has the ultra-rare side effect that no one ever reads on the fact sheet. So I'm asking, which of these three is tolerated the best? While I've been on warfarin I've gained nearly 60 lbs. I'm vegan. I ride centuries (100mi bike rides). As a result of all the weight gain, other health issues are becoming more pressing. Arthritis, muscle aches, the threat of diabetes, not to mention what it's done to my self-esteem and marriage. I have ab...

I don't know if you are already eating a balanced diet, but nutrition is my field of study so I'd be happy to critique your diet for you to help you reach your goals. Aside from diet and exercise, I think that multivitamins play a big factor in absorbing certain foods better and increasing protein synthesis. For now the best thing I can suggest is to invest in a multivitamin and eat roughly 5-6 meals a day (in balanced portions of ...

I still have leg pain every now and then with xarelto. I have also gain 13 lbs within 5 month period while exercising. Has anyone else had these kinds of issues? ## Unfortunately yes! Such complaints are being posted more and more often in relation to this medication. The leg pain is a listed side effect, but the weight gain is not, however, that doesn't necessarily mean that it's unrelated. Have you consulted your doctor, yet? It would be best to be safe and let them check things out, before you pinpoint the drug as being the sole cause. ## May I ask why you started taking Xarelto? If it was because of a DVT, you probably are experiencing Post Thrombotic Syndrome when your leg with have intense pain from time to time. Try wearing a compression sock daily and elevating your leg ...

dear sir i am 21 years old but my weight is only 45 kg what i do ## How tall are you? Your proper and healthy body weight depends on more than just your current age. Have you consulted a doctor? The best thing to do, if you want to gain weight, is to increase your daily calorie intake, while still maintaining a healthy diet and getting proper exercise. However, some people are just naturally small and there may be nothing you can do to change it. I was right around the same weight, when I was your age and, even now, many years later, I have still only hit around 52kgs and have had to accept that I will probably always be tiny, regardless of what I eat or try.

Was on Levothyrosin, synthroid, and Armor thyroid meds over the past 7 years. The experience that I had with each one goes as follows. Levothyrosin made me feel like crap! I was tired, moody, sad, and questioned my sanity while I was on it. Weight gain! Synthroid made my skin, hair dry and brittle! It made me feel very irritated about little things. Weight fluctuation! Next, Armor I liked because I felt great! It helped me get my skin and hair back on a healthy course. Weight loss 20lbs! However, finding a doctor to write a prescription for it became too difficult when I relocated. Every doctor I asked said it may be a natural thyroid med because it comes from a pig but there is nothing natural about it! Anyway, My new doctor asked me to try Tirosint because it was in a liquid gel form and i...

I will be glad to hear back from you. ## No, I'm sorry, but except in very rare cases, using drugs to induce weight gain is not safe and carries a lot of risks. The best thing to do would be the eat more calorie dense foods, while still eating healthy and getting lots of proper exercise. What types of foods do you normally eat?

I quit seroquel 5 months ago for several reasons (was addicted to it and not seeing a doctor so I was getting it on the streets, it messed with my head and my heart rate, and of course the weight gain.) I was a good 125lbs ish when I started. 2 years later I'm 160lbs. Seroquel never really made me hungry or overeat, but I slept a good 14 hours a day and spent my time awake lying around because I was so tired. Having quit it though, along with being homeless, I walk quite a lot and barely get to eat. But after 5 months I can't even shed 5lbs. The next best thing I can do diet wise is literally starve myself I am already eating so little, and I already do not eat junk food, so I'm really confused and actually pretty depressed by my weight. I know seroquel is behind my dilemma,...

I took 300mg of generic wellbutrin for about two years and lost about 10 lbs in the process. Over a few months of tapering off it (and going on the nuvaring) I've gained about 25 lbs. Now I've been off of it for 3 weeks and the depression has come back. I plan on going back on it once it's been a full month off and I want to know if I can expect the same kind of weight loss the second time around or if my body is already used to it? ## Hello, Jill! How are you doing? It's kind of hard to say. If the weight gain is solely related to the Nuvaring, then no, you may not lose it on the Wellbutrin. Learn more Wellbutrin details here. The best thing to do would be to consult your doctor and get their input on the situation. It is possible that the weight gain is just related to...

It may cause side effects, such as: nausea, drowsiness, skin rash and diarrhea. I just went from 60 mg to 80mg of cymbalta. I have fibromyalgia, neuropathy and depression and anxiety. Has anyone taken 90 mg and did it help you? ## It didn't help me when I took it, but I am probably not the best judge. I tried it years ago and have since found out I was misdiagnosed and being treated for the wrong thing. It was not going to do anything to help the pain I was having. A higher dose may cause a resurgence of the side effects, such as: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and weight gain. Has it been working for you? ## Hello, I'm looking for help for my mother.
