i am taking tramadol right now and it is not working enough... can i take oxycodone for the same pain? ## Hi Amber, Based on the personal reviews of others, I'd imagine oxycodone to be considerably stronger than tramadol. There have been a number of patients on here complaining that tramadol doesn't do anything for them and even go so far as wondering why it's even classified as a pain killer. I don't know if that's an overstatement since everyone reacts differently to it, but if you have a prescription for oxycodone, it should be a much more potent alternative. Regarding the differences between the two medications you can learn more about them in the links below: Tramadol Details Oxycodone Details I hope this helps! ## Hello Amber I take tremadal n gabapentin 300mg ...

I am taking 30 mgs. Oxycodone up to 3 pills per day for severe back pain. Years ago I was on Oxycontin and don't remember the mgs. What is the difference between these two medications. I believe Oxycontin is stronger if they are the same dosage, is that correct? ## Hello, Candy! How are you? Oxycodone is the active ingredient in Oxycontin, it's just in a time released formulation that's designed to slowly release the medication over a period of 12 hours. So no, neither is stronger. It's just that the regular Oxycodone that you're taking now is released all at once, within 15 to 20 minutes of your taking it. This medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else ...

I was just curious and just wanted to know? About more information about these medications and what their are for, ## From what you've listed, both are the same medication, Oxycodone, just in different doses. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## the difference is about 25 mg if it is the same brand. Sam

my Dr has changed my medication fron norco to percocet, and now my feet and ankles are swelling severely. What is the difference between hydrocodone and oxycodone? ## They are both narcotic analgesics, however, the Oxycodone is stronger than they Hydrocodone. Oxycodone, by itself, doesn't usually cause peripheral edema, however, it could be the Acetaminophen, since it can sometimes cause people to retain fluids and, if that is what is causing it, it would have also happened with the Norco. Have you consulted your doctor? Whenever edema occurs, it is very important to discover what is causing it, since it can be a sign of other serious medical conditions. Even swelling of the feet and legs can be a sign of congestive heart failure. ## This isn't listed as a common side effect in ...

The doctor prescribed me Percocet and the pharmacy gave me the generic which is oxycodone/acetaminophen 5-325. What's the difference in the 2? Also idk why the pharmacy gave me the generic, can they change it? ## Under current U.S. laws, your pharmacy has to give you the generic, if one is available, unless you are paying cash for a medication and ask them to give the name brand. Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, so you have received the correct medication. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. My doc has been prescribing me percocet 10 mg. And now he prescribed me oxycodone 5mg. Which is stronger? The percocet 10's i have been taking for almost 2 years and i told him that they wasn't working that's when he prescribed me the oxycodone 5'mg. And they aren't working either. I am taking pain medication for surgery's . Since the oxycodone 5'mg aren't working what should i ask for. Now hydrocodone doesn't agree with me. It makes me sick.and i would prefer to stick with oxycodone. What should i ask for ? ## Percocet is actually a combination medication that contains Oxycodone and Acetaminophen, because the Acetaminophen helps increase the efficacy of the Oxycodone. So, if you were taking it, there should have been two dosages listed, such a 10/325...

I was prescribed Percocet 5/325 for shingles. Then my Dr switched it to oxycodone 5/325. What is the difference between the two? ## To me it just sounds like they switched you from the brand name to the generic which contains the same active ingredients and doses. Do you have any other details about the new prescription such as a NDC number or manufacturer name? ## Percocet has Tylenol in it and oxycodone does not... ## Diamond88 you are right but I want to expand on your message just a bit. Percocet does have Acetaminophen (the active ingredient in Tylenol) in it, but it also contains Oxycodone as an active ingredient. Straight Oxycodone is different than Percocet. So, in other words ... Percocet = Acetaminophen + Oxycodone ... Oxycodone is a drug in and of itself which is sometimes an...

I have been taking Oxycodone 10mg NP/12, Zydus brand, for over a year. Last month the pharmacy changed to the K56, KVK tech brand, and they do not help with the pain at all. Zydus brand stops the pain and work find. The KVK don't do a thing. Can anyone tell me why? ## @BC Survivor, Just wanted to let to you know that you're not alone in thinking that that KVK Tech brand is noticeably less potent. How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. There can be slight differences in the amount of the active ingredient between one generic and another. Under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, they are allowed to differ from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20%, however, they don't have to measure against each other, so the other one you were taking may have had a little more Oxycodone in it and this new one might be a little low. Since the differences are small, your body will usually ...

I was just wondering what the difference between Oxycodone and Hydrocodone, it seems to me they both have the same ingredients. Why Oxy or Hydro, what does this mean? ## I AM JUST WONDERING WHAT COLORS AN OXYCODONE [ETHEX041] CAPSULE LOOKS LIKE? ## Ethex 041 Pill Image ## Oxycodone and Hydrocodone No, they are not the same, Hydrocodone is a strong narcotic, but Oxycodone is much stronger, and both work differently for different people. Some people do better and get better results from on or the other. Oxy is also available by itself in tablet or capsule form from 5mgs to 30mgs, Instant Release, and from 10mg to 80mgs in a controlled release form, as well as the forumulations that couple the instant release Oxy with Ibuprofen, Aspirin, or Acetaminophen. What are the markings on the pills in question? The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.

Some people did about as good of a job explaining that as my 3 year old. Thanks A LOT, I feel so much better now to have read the obvious Cr controlled release to IR instant release. Just a heads up, some dumb nurses do prescribe as hcl and you get the worst generic possible if they do, so care to imply. ## Hello, Carolyn! How are you? As to the release formulations, what other details do you require? That is the only difference, the time released CR is released over a period of 12 hours, while the IR is released instantly and the regular release takes about 15 to 20 minutes to start working and it's all released immediately, as well. As to the HCL, that actually has no effect on the medication you receive from your pharmacy. HCL stands for Hydrochloride, which designates the specif...

I take Oxycodone for pain and usually take the 15mg ones and I went out of town and due to the strick rules had to take some leftover 10mgs. Here is the thing they don't seem to help as much even doing the 15 so 1 and half of a 10. Should be the same mg for mg but it wasnt in fact I even had some withdrwal type feeling. Why is that? Has anyone else had the issue? I took the same amount mg for mg per day yet had no energy at all and felt off. ## There can be fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredient from one generic medication to another. They are allowed to differ by plus or minus 20% under the Hatch Waxman Act of 1984. Thus, the 10mg tablets may be lower and that could have caused the problem. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the poten...

I would lyk to kno the difference between a 215 and 224 oxycodone?? ## @Brindle, Both pills contain 30mgs of Oxycodone hydrochloride. The primary differences are that they are manufactured by different drug companies. "A 215" is made by Actavis and "224" is made by Caraco Pharma. The other notable differences patients should be aware of is that they each contain different sets of binders/fillers (also known as inactive ingredients). "A 215" contains: corn starch + FD & C Blue No. 2 + FD & C Blue No. 2 Aluminium Lake + lactose monohydrate + microcrystalline cellulose + silicon dioxide + stearic acid + glycolate "224" contains: lactose anhydrous + silicon dioxide + magnesium stearate + microcrystalline cellulose + corn starch + sodium starch glycola...

What is the difference because I was on ratio oxycocets for 4 yrs and just recently I was switched to sandoz oxycodone .. I take the sandoz more cuz I feel not much effects on these ones ..than the ratio oxycocet. ? Why is this ? Whats the difference? ## Ratio Pharm lists Oxycocet as containing Oxycodone coupld with Acetaminophen, which does help it work better for some people, while Sandoz Oxycodone is not listed as containing the Acetaminophen. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. What are the relevant dosages? I am on ocxycodone for pain. I am out but hav an old script for tramadol. How many 50mg tramadol would I have to take for it to balance out to one 10 mg oxycodone? ## Tramadol is much more powerful than many physicians claim it is. Get it filled. It will replace the narcotic effects of the other opiate & common dose is 2tabs at 50mg each. I've been to hell & back with tramadol withdrawals & vice versa with the others for many years; pharmacists all over the country will tell you the truth: one opiate replaces the other when it comes to withdrawals. Period ## Hello, James! How are you? While it does work very well for some people, Tramadol is actually a much weaker opiate, so it would require approximately 150mgs of it to be equal to each 10mg dose of Oxycodone. Of course...

What is the difference between tramadol hcl 50 mg and oxycodone 30 mg tablets ## Tramadol is a centrally acting analgesic of the opioid class, but it is not classified as a narcotic. It really doesn't work as well as the actual narcotics do, for some people. Oxycodone is an actual narcotic and is much stronger and more effective for a lot of people. Since they do share similar characteristics, the side effects that they both can cause are very similar and can include: nausea, dizziness, constipation and drowsiness. Are there any other questions?
