My husband takes Lexamil 10 mg for depression for 7days now. He just sits and stares and do not react to anything. Is there a natural or herbal replacement for this medicine. Its as if he has stopped living. Thanks ## Hello, Kotie! How is your husband doing? Is this the only medication that he's taking? Such side effects should wear off in a few weeks, once his body gets used to the medication. But it could be that this just isn't the right antidepressant for him and he may need to try a different one. Is this the first medication in this class that he's tried? Are you sure he's only taking 10mgs? ...

Hi, I've just started taking Lexamil 10mg 2 days ago, for the first time. I found that it made me extremely sleepy and slowed my movements as well slurring speech and it feels as though I'm on a high. I didn't take it today and opted to rather take it at night. Would it still help the way it should if I take it at night? My Dr also said that it would make me gain weight (which I am happy about) but it seems to have decreased my appetite and I actually don't feel hungry. Will this change after the initiation period of about 2 weeks? Your help is appreciated. Thanks. ...

What will happen to my baby newborn if I breastfeed and use Lexamil? ## Hi corrie, Lexamil contains the active ingredient Escitalopram; which can cause harm to the fetus if it is used during the last 3 months of pregnancy. The pregnancy warnings for this drug also note that one should not breast-feed while taking Escitalopram, since it is excreted into human milk. Apparently, there have been two reports of infants experiencing excess somnolence, decreased feeding, and weight loss in association with breast-feeding from a Escitalopram- treated mother. The decision to continue or discontinue either nursing or Escitalopram therapy should take into account both the risks of Escitalopram exposure to the infant and the benefits of Escitalopram therapy for the mother. The results of two case r... ...

I would like to go off lexamil 10mg. How can I do it ? Can I leave it at once ? ## How long have you been taking it and what has your doctor advised? Lexamil contains the active ingredient Escitalopram, which is an SSRI antidepressant and, if you've been taking it for a long period of time, then a sudden cessation may cause withdrawal and rebound effects, which may be worse than the condition you started taking it to treat. In most cases, it is best to taper these types of medications, as slowly as possible. ## I've been using it for 9 months now. Should I first reduse it. I'm gaining wait and think it is the Lexamil. ## Yes, you should definitely speak to your doctor about a tapering plan to get off of it and avoid most of the withdrawal and rebound effects. My dad passed away 7 months ago and have a stressful job. Is it better to be on an anti-depress like Lexamil or Azor/Xanor? Can one drink both?
