I acquired P. HYOSCYAM in a large antique looking tin and am wondering if anyone can provide further information on it? I was told it could possibly be from the civil war era. ## Hello, Ben! How are you? Yes, it is most likely very old. Hyoscyamine is an antispasmodic that is used to treat conditions, such as IBS, peptic ulcers, pancreatitis and cystitis. It is not very commonly used, anymore. Though, it is still available in the U.S. via prescription. Typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include dry mouth, dry throat, eye pain, blurred vision, dizziness and flushing. It can be toxic, if someone takes too much, so it has to be dosed very carefully. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I seriously doubt the pills are from the civil war era. Could the severe cystitis symptoms I am experiencing together with lower abdomen pain be caused by the 5mg of Ramipril I was prescribed for BP? I have tried all suggested remedies, and have had a urine check and have no sign of infection. ## Hello, Polly! How are you? I'm sorry that you're so miserable. Yes, it could, this medication is known to cause g.i. pain and discomfort as side effects, in some people that take it, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, headache and increases urination. Have you discussed the possibility of trying a different medication with your doctor?

I have been diagnosed with overactive bladder but I think it's instertitial cystitis but I worry that if I don't pee at every little urge my bladder will burst is this even possible. ## Hello, Deborah! How are you? No, if you are going frequently, or regularly and drinking a normal amount of fluids, then you don't have to worry about it bursting, even if you don't go at every single urge. The average person should drink about 2 liters of fluid a day, plus they take in some via their food and they usually go 5 to 6 times a day. If you go 7 or more, that's when it's considered that you have a frequency problem, unless it's an isolated incident, when you drank a lot more fluid than usual, so you had to go more often, but things return to normal another day. Why is Pur bloka being used in the treatment of migraine and Anachroid cyst? ## Pur-Bloka contains the active ingredient propranolol hydrochloride, in doses of 10 or 40mg tablets. Propranolol Hydrochloride's principal effect is to reduce the response of the heart to stress and exercise and it reduces blood pressure in patients with hypertension. The indications for this drug however, have no apparent relation to Arachnoid cysts or migraine headaches. The only conclusion I can reach is that Propranolol may help with specific symptoms or your body's response to such conditions; possibly allowing your body to relax when either of these conditions could make someone restless with insomnia. Just a thought.. but I hope this helps! Have you discussed this yet with any doctor or physici...

Can this medicine be used to gratis a tooth infection? ## Hi Heidi, I have my doubts, because Nitrofurantoin has poor tissue penetration and is not indicated to treat anything other than simple cystitis (urinary tract infections). I would however recommend using clove essential oil for tooth and mouth related infections. Not only does it numb the pain, but it also kills the infection. A cheap natural alternative to prescription drugs, that is more effective in my opinion. I hope this helps! ## Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic that can be used to treat various types of infections, but it usually isn't the first choice for a dental infection.
