What Does The Hydro In Hydrocodone Mean

Since we learned that "hydro" means water, what does "hydro" mean in the drug "hydrocodone?" All drugs are made with some water, aren't they? A student wanted to know why? Thank you. ## Hello, Fran! How are you? As explained by the FDA, a drug name is used to denote its chemical makeup and its drug category. The generic name, in this case Hydrocodone, which is an opiate, is chosen by the USAN (United States Adopted Names). There is also an agency to name them in Japan and other countries, though in many cases, they will keep a universal name, if possible. The actual chemical name of any given drug is far, far too long to use as it's actual name on the market, so what they name it results from a kind of shortening of that chemical name. As an example, here...

Pink pill with darker pink specks, v, 3605. Why are some hydrocodone different colors but still have the v? ## Hello, Jopo! How are you? Because the V is just a manufacturers logo and actually has nothing to do with the contents of the tablets. The V logo is used by Vintage Pharmaceuticals on all of their products, including the ones that do not contain narcotics. The color also doesn't not mean anything, it is just something that the manufactured decided to do to their tablets. The one in question contains 7.5mgs of Hydrocodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

my hydrocodone has Watson 3202 on white oval pill but pharmacy label has a T following the 325. What does the T mean? ## I am not aware of any abbreviation that this would stand for and suspect it may be a typographical error, or something internal to your pharmacy. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## at the end of a hydrocodone/acetaminophen script there is a tb and a t what doe they mean ## A "T" or "TB" on the end of the drug name on a label simply stands for "Tablet". This is universal and could apply to any medication that comes in tablet form. I know this thread is old, just clearing ...

Would taking 3 vicodin 500mg/5mg be the same affect as taking 1 15mg oxytocin ## Hello, Dreamy! How are you? Did you mean Oxycodone, the narcotic? If so, then no. Oxycodone is actually stronger than Hydrocodone. 15mgs of Hydrocodone is only equal to about 10mgs of Oxycodone. Did your doctor make this switch? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## Thank you so much for replying im educating myself on all the different pain pills thank you

my primary Dr. who i trust a lot told me there was such a thing as 80mg of hydrocodone with no acetaminophen in it and that i shouldn't be taking any acetaminophen because it is causing my liver to be damaged even more than it is. i suffer from severe pain daily and need my pain killers to help manage my pain. I have never heard of 80 mgs of hydro's and would like to know if this is correct before i go and ask my pain management doctor about this. i need to know if this is correct,or that he messed up and meant is say that the are 80mgs of oxycodone with no acetaminophen. please clarify for me. ## Yes it is called Zohydro. Straight hydrocone minus the tylenol ## Post #1 is correct. 80mgs of hydrocodone does exist. I just wanted to add that Zohydro is an extended release version ...

There was only DICODID made by knoll in Germany but it was withdrawn last year. Only Hydrocodone now available is ZOHYDRO SR in the USA. It is also made in combination with high amounts of acetaminophen, usually 325, 500 or 650mg, one goes as high as 750mg! But there is legislation coming into force limiting any dosage unit of acetaminophen (paracetamol) in the USA (where 100% of the entire world's Hydrocodone is now used since the deletion of DICODID) to 300mg. Abbott have already issued their new 10/300mg pill. But I am afraid that Hydrocodone as a single drug now is only available as an SR med under that ZOHYDRO brand. If required then would have to be crushed finely to defeat the ridiculous slow release mechanism which means you can no longer get the benefit of the drug to the e...

I was perscribed vicodin 750 es and then norco was told they were same and also available under other names. Is this true, and what other names do they come in? ## Yes, both Vicodin and Norco contain Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone as the active ingredients. Another name it is sold under would be Lortab and it is also available as a generic, so that would be listed as just the active ingredients. There are also a few different dosage strengths available. Learn more Vicodin details here. What you were first prescribed, Vicodin ES means an extra strength formulation of Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone and the larger number, like the 750 you listed is the amount of Acetaminophen in them. It helps the narcotic to work better. The Hydrocodone itself is only available up to a maximum of 10mgs. Is ...

My son died with a blood level of 46.6 ng/ml in his blood system, what does this mean other than it was a high level. ## Cindy, you need to.take the autopsy report to your Dr and ask him to explain it. No.parent should be getting answers like this on.a public forum. ## Hi Cindy, I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. According to a drug toxicity chart I found here, 10-40 ng/mL is listed as a "therapeutic" blood level of Hydrocodone and anything greater than 100 ng/mL is listed as a "toxic" blood level of Hydrocodone. I'm sure one's tolerance to opiates also plays a significant role, but it looks to me like your son wasn't that far off from what's considered to be a normal range. Just wanted to share these details so you can at least have something el...

does a narco 10/325mg have oxycodone or opiates in it? ## It does contain an opiate, but it is not Oxycodone. Norco 10/325 means that it contains 325ms of Acetaminophen and 10mgs of Hydrocodone, which is the narcotic opiate. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. Is pink oblong lortab available anywhere? With a prescription, of course. My pharmacy quit carrying them after the recall and they're the ones that helped my pain the best. ## Do you happen to remember who manufactures it, or what the markings are on the tablets you're looking for? Learn more Lortab details here. That information would most likely help you to get more answers, since just saying the color and shape isn't very specific. Your general location would also help, since this site is open to users all over the world, so some available in London aren't going to mean much to you, if you're in LA.

what is tablitp in the hydrocodone ## I'm not sure I quite understand what you mean. Is this something that you saw written on your prescription? As in, it was in the doctor's handwriting, which is always hard to read? Or was this on the printed label? Learn more Hydrocodone details here. The tablet part just designates them as being tablets.

Anyone know? confused about it. ## 10mg hydrocodone with 500mg of acetaminphen ## Hydrocodone is similar to codiene, but the two drugs are both different from each other. ## That is correct, there is no Codeine in this, the active narcotic in this medication is the Hydrocodone, 10/500 means it contains 10mgs of Hydrocodone and 500mgs of Acetaminophen, this is a generic for Vicodin. Can Hydrocodone and Modafinil be taken together? ## Hi Fred, Based on my research there are no drug interactions found between Hydrocodone and Modafinil. This does not necessarily mean no interactions exist, but my sources state that every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is accurate. In conclusion, these two medications are regarded as being safe to take together and shouldn't present any problems outside of the normal side effects associated with each medication. I hope this helps to answer your question! ## What about Oxycodone (Roxycodone--I should say, without Tylenol) and Modafinil combined? I am taking them both for three years and haven't had a problem. May I ask if there is really heroin in any amount of a hydrocodone m 367 10 mil? I suspect my son to be abusing it. ## No, it is a completely different substance from hydrocodone, they are both opiates but that's all they have in common, hydro is a much much weaker form of opiate ## No, that is a Schedule I drug, which means that it has no medical use by the DEA. It is an illegal substance and is not in any prescribed medications.

I received my usual prescription of Hydrocodone (10mg. compound form, no additives/Tylenol, etc...) from a new/different pharmacy. The capsules are 3x larger than the previous capsules I had been receiving and of course, appear to contain 3x as much hydrocodone. New pharmacy says all is well, only Hydrocodone... just as prescribed. Anyone ever experience this? ## Well, since they are compounded, it's very difficult to say, but it really just depends on how they put them together. At a different pharmacy, they may use more fillers than your prior pharmacy did, but that doesn't mean it actually contains more of the Hydrocodone. Are there any other questions or comments?
