my med had oc on it for oxicontin but now it has op. What does that stand for ## I am not certain exactly what it stands for, however, it has replaced the original Oxycontin with the OC marking. Oxycontin OP cannot be crush, chewed or broken down. If someone tries, it basically turns into a gummy goo, that is supposed to only dissolve in stomach acid and retain its time released properties. Side effects remain the same: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help you with? ## Has anyone out there heard of a brand new formulation called Oxycontin RF I got a letter from Purdue( I have been bugging them forever- so they have my address in records.) The letter was addressed to a person of the same last name as me, but different first name, and it got sent ...

found pill with v on one side and 3605 on the other what is it ## Hi Walt, From what I understand, the cursive "V" actually represents Vintage Pharmaceuticals who now holds the name Qualitest. However the pill you have there marked "V 36 05" is identified as a generic Norco tablet containing 325mg of Acetaminophen + 7.5mg of Hydrocodone; used for treating moderate to severe pain. And for verification, this particular pill also carries a National Drug Code of 00603-3891. I hope this helps! ## thanks for the info ## The pill is round and pink with a cursive V and markings of 49/93 on the other side what is it? ## Pink V 49 93 is oxycodone hcl 10 mg an I believe fairly new to the market! ## Also, the V 49 94 gray pill which is 20mg oxycodone I think is new to the market, is...

what does the ng stand for in 95ng/10mg ? ## In science, chemicals and medicine, when referring to measurements like this, the abbreviation ng stands for nanogram, as explained by the NIH. Thus, what you typed would be 95 nanograms per 10 milligrams. Generally, in such results, that's the amount detected in the amount that was measured. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you Verwon for your reply. You asked if I had any other questions. I tested the other day and I am wondering if this reading is normal for my prescription? I am prescribed 20mg Oxycodone every 12 hours and 10/325 Hydrocodone four times daily. Oxycodone: 91.5 ng/10 mg (lab cutoff is 2 ng/10 mg) Hydrocodone: 104 ng/10 mg (lab cutoff is 2 ng/10 mg)

Same as above how many mg Percocet are usually taken for pain relief. What is a high dose and how often are 20 mg taken ## The highest available dose of Percocet, according to the FDA website, contains 10mgs of Oxycodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen, so there is no 20mg dosage available in the U.S. Were you referring to just Oxycontin tablets? They are available in a 20mg dosage, but do not include the Acetaminophen and they're in a time released formulation. It is classified as a narcotic analgesic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. As to how much is taken, that may differ from person to person, depending on what dose best controls their pain and what dosage their doct...

What does the HCL,and the PO stand for? oxycodoneHCL 2oMG PO? Ty very much! ## Hello, Skippy! How are you? The HCL stands for hydrochloride, it just designates the specific chemical salt that the drug was derived from and the PO means per oral route, meaning to take them by mouth. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Just trying to find out what the PUR on my oxycodone bottle means. I'm guessing it's a form of sustained release, but just wanted to know the medical terminology. Thanks! ## That stands for the manufacturer, which in this case would be Purdue Pharma. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possible including nausea, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, constipation, and dry mouth. It also carries the risk of being habit forming. Currently, Oxycontin is only available from this manufacturer and it is only available as a time released formulation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was recently prescribed oxycodone IMM REL for my severe back pain and I wanted to know what is the difference between the regular oxycodone and the one I have now....please esplain if its addicted...reply thanks ## All Oxycodone has addictive potential, it doesn't matter what release type it is. IMM REL stands for Immediate Release, meaning the drug starts to be released as soon as the pill is in your stomach, regular release pills take 15 to 20 minutes to start working.

Had a TKR 8/11/15. Sent home with Norco then hydro codone acetaminophen 10-325. Worked a few days. Got really bad shin pain can't stand up. Then Dr gave me OxyContin 10. Time realease. Suppose take 1 tablet every 12 hours. Took 2 doses so far. At 5:00 pm then 5 am. Not working. Any suggestions ## Hello, Cindy! How are you? It may not be a strong enough dose to alleviate your pain. Have you informed your doctor? He may need to raise your dosage. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Next to my fill date of generic Percocet I usually have a MCRK code but this new supplier has MADV. Is there a meaning for this? I just feel it's not as strong as what I've been getting ## This new medication 5/325 Oxycodone / APAP has RP stamped on one side of medication ## Hello, Tom! How are you? The MCRK and MADV are abbreviations for the generic manufacturers. For instance, MCRK stands for Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals. In case of emergency, the pharmacies do this to keep track of the manufacturer and/or distributor and the RP is a manufacturers logo. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I am trying to find out what the letter "c" and the letter "n" stand for at the beginning of my rx number. Example - n123456 on my oxycodone and for my lomotil, alprazolam and loratab it looks like this Example-c123456. I know the prescriptions are all controlled but my doctor can write refills and call in my "c" prescriptions and I have to have the hard copy written in order to get my "n" prescriptions. What do these letters stand for? Are their other letters? If so what do they stand for? If all these medications are controlled what is the difference? ## As to what those letters stand for, you'd actually need to ask at your pharmacy. Such numbers aren't universal. The RX number is unique to your pharmacy, or pharmacy chain. For instance, if you ...

What does the "IR" stand for located behind the word Oxycodone and in front of the dosage amount, i.e., 5 mg. When I look up he generic Oxycodone I see that it has acetiminiphine and/or NASIDS-Ibuprophine. I believe the manufacture is Palladone. Is there an Oxycodone made that has nothing in it except Oxycodone. Thanks??? ## The IR stands for immediate release, which means it's meant to release the medication, as soon as you swallow the tablet. While there are some formulations that contain Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen, this one doesn't. This one only contains Oxycodone. There are actually 3 formulations available that only contain Acetaminophen, the OxyIR and its generics, which you've already mentioned that are instant release. There is a time released formulation ca...

I've taken gabapentin, norco, and then oxycodone. I was taken off the oxycodone recently because I was talking the max six pills a day and my pain was still unbearable. I have five bulging disc and a pinched nerve in my back. I have spinal stenosis. This has caused pain throughout my left side down to my feet. I'm also a diabetic with nerve damage. I'm scared to do multiple rounds of injections in my back. Is there anything I can take to help me at least get some rest. I had to quit my job because I can't sit or stand and the pain is too much ## Hello, Cindy! How are you? There are many other medications to choose from, including Oxycodone in higher doses, without the Acetaminophen. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause si...

I have been taking Oxycodone as prescribed, 30 mgs. per day/ 3 times a day. I can't stand having to sleep all day. When I wake up, I am very depressed. I suffer from Treatment Resistant Depression. My pain went from a 5 to close to 10 and walking is even difficult. A family member hired a cleaning lady and someone to do other tasks for me, but I feel terrible having that paid for. I need a new medication. ## Hello, Candy! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. That can be a side effect, as listed by the FDA, that some people experience from Oxycodone, along with nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. It can really vary from person to person, for instance, I didn't have that problem with Oxycodone, but I did experience it when taki...
