What Does A Kadian Look Like

I went to a new Pharmacy today to get my monthly Kadian 50mg filled. They said they had the generic and would I like that (Morphine SULFATE ER 50mg). I said sure, but when I looked at the pills, they were exactly the same color, shape, and markings as the name brand Kadian. Does anybody know what the new generic is actually suppose to look like? Why would a drug company make a generic to look exactly like the name brand? How would the Pharmacists tell them apart? ## What are the markings on the tablets? My husband has been on Kadian 80 mg for over a year. Now all of a sudden the Pharmacy's are saying that they don't carry it and ordering will take two weeks.....does anyone know why Pahrmacys give you such a hard time. Actually had one, look at the current doctor's written script and say we have to call the doctor first, Oh you don't live in 4 surrounding towns (actually live 15 minutes away) we won't fill perscriptions that far away. The pharmacy I have used for years claims their wholesaler discontinued it. The drug is available but don't know where to fill it in my area. I am in Lake County, Florida. Generics do not work for me and I need brand specific which my insurance does cover. looking for something cheeper than kadian but still works asgood any ideals what it might be ## Kadian contains the active ingredient Morphine, there is another option available, a generic for MS Contin, it is a 12 hour time release, so you would probably need a dosage adjustment to control your pain as well. Have you tried asking your doctor what your other alternatives are? Oxycontin, a time released Oxycodone, which can also be obtained in generic may also be another option. I have been taking kadian for several years. My current dosage is a10 and a 30 1 X per day at bedtime. It has worked perfect. No problems at all. For the past couple days I gave been unable to sleep, itching, diarrhea, headache and increased pain and my mood is out of control with crying. I did like others and was thinking maybe someone had messed with my meds. Then, last night after looking at my pills closely, I noticed that I received the generic kadian 30 at my last refill. This medicine is not working the at all. It is the beginning of a four day holiday and I am scared to feel what I am going to be going through until Monday. I've been on kadian 80mg 2 times a day for a year;now I have no insurance and the script is $1050.00 I need somthing cheaper but basicaly the same. ## Kadian is a time release formulation of Morphine, there is a generic version available, you should be able to ask your doctor to prescribe it or just ask your pharmacist. I am looking for Doctors who can prescribe Methodone in Rockford, Illinois 10 mg pills for back pain and foot pain with neuropathy. In 2010 I had stage four colon cancer. I had an operation and took chemo for a year and half. I am now cancer free but the chemos left me with so much pain and neuropathy I cant funfunction without pain meds. I was taking 8 5mg Norco and 2 50mg Kadian a day. But i had to stop the Kadian due to breathing problems i also have COPD. Reciently my pain managment Dr decreased my Norco to 5 10mg a day.
