Weight Loss With Topamax

I took this once years ago for a mood stabilizer. I'm now on it again for weight loss. But I'm not seeing results. Am I immune to it now? It also makes me dumb as a bucket of rocks. Is there anything I can to to restart my system to re-recognize the meds and not make me feel so dumb? ## I'm prescribed 2, 100mg at night 1, 100mg in the morning. I have been prescribed Topamax for binge eating. This will be my third time taking it. Each time I go off of it I do so believing I can conquer my eating disorder myself; however, I have been unsuccessful in breaking the cycle. Topamax helps me calm my cravings and balance my moods. I have read that it is not as effective the more times one starts and stops the medication. I have only back on the medication a short two weeks and feel a very little difference; perhaps I am inpatient because I know what I did feel like prior to coming off of it. I'm on 100mg of Topamax 3 times a day. I've been on it for over 2 years now. I day all 3 doses at once. I take it as a mood stabalizer. It also helps my migraines and assists in weight loss but I've noticed sever memory loss as the years go on. My husband has had to repeat whole conversations to me. Ones we've had just a week prior. It's been more and more noticeable in the last 12 months. Hello, I was wondering if I should or could start taking Phentermine to help w/ my weight loss? I have been on 50mg of Topamax for weight loss and recently had what appears to be my first attack of gout. I've been prescribed the generic version of Topamax... The mfg. is zydus, but I'm afraid to take them after reading a lot of bad reviews... Has anyone been successful with this pill and mfg.? ## While there can be differences from one generic to another, it can vary from person to person, so the only way to find out how it works for you is by actually trying it. While Topamax can aid in weight loss and has recently been approved to be used for it, much of the rest really depends on the individual. For instance someone that only takes the medication, but doesn't follow a good, healthy diet plan and get plenty of exercise is not going to lose as much as another person that does those things. What are the side effects of a combination of all three medicines for a seizure disorder? Have been on the Depakote and Topamax for years with the Kepra only recently added for partial seizures. I noticed that my hair is now thinning dramatically and I'm now suffering from insomnia! I'm thinking it may have something to do with the addition of the Kepra. Am I correct? I was on Topamax years ago under a doctor that is no longer practicing. I lost a great amount of weight. I have been treated for bipolar 2 for 3 yrs and have been on several different meds (lamictal,lithium,abilify,seraquel and a few others). Recently went into my pdoc (I'm on 300mg lamictal, 150mg seraquel and mentally doing the best ever). But, I've gained almost 30 lbs since being on seraquel which has now become a deal breaker. My pdoc put me on topomax for weight loss 3 days ago. Any experience with topomax causing weightloss even while remaining on seraquel? May I take these together (phentermine, topamax, contrave)? They were prescribed for weight loss. ## Has your doctor instructed you take them all at once? That would be very unusual. In most cases, as reported by the FDA, taking all of these at once, could result in elevated blood pressure, elevated heart rate, severe insomnia nervousness, anxiety, and anorexia, any of which could be fatal.

I have been on Topamax for about 10 months, started at 25mg a day. Now at 50mg in the morning 50mg at bed time and I have gained so much weight since I started on this medicine, it has not helped with weight loss at all. But many medications are known to cause the opposite of the expected effects in some people that take them. Have you increased your activity rates and been careful with your diet? You may have already done so, but sometimes people don't think of the first and most obvious steps. Have you talked to your doctor about it? They may have additional ideas that can help you.

I'm currently taking adapex & topamax for weight loss. Can I take trintellex also? I think I'm going through menopause & I'm not sleeping & having problems with speaking my mind... in your face. I know that adapex is an amphetamine... I've been on it before & had no problems with sleeping or anger. My Dr. prescribed trintellex... I was on Topamax since 2006, 300mg a day. i went off it last year, my decision after a long discussion with my dr due to all the side affects, one major one was my hair loss, it was coming out in clumps. After being off of it for the past year, I gained over 30lbs. My eating was the same, healthy. Activity was the same. I attributed the weight gain to being off the Topamax. This month I started Topamax as the first step in switching from oher seizure meds to one med for neg. weight loss and better liver counts. I progressed 25mg up by the week and have reached 50mg in mnring and at night. I feel my ADHD is off the charts, concentration is in the toilet, and I occasionally get the shakes where I feel weak.
