does anyone knows if walgreens are gonna discontinue carrying this medication? ## Actually, by January of 2014, there will no longer be any of these combination prescription medications available that will contain more than 325mgs of the Acetaminophen. Due to a request from the FDA because of the risk of liver damage or failure associated with long-term use of high doses of Acetaminophen, as well as the toxicity risk associated with overdose, all such medications are being changed to contain 325mgs as the maximum per dose. Some manufacturers have already begun to implement the change, which has cause them to already be unavailable in some areas. Learn more Vicodin details here. Norco 750 white with pink dots ## Prescription drugs that contain Acetaminphen are not allowed to have more than 325 mg of Acetaminphen now. ## @Michelle, Post #1 is correct. Acetaminophen is capped out at 325mg now-a-days. So the old Vicodin's with 750mg of Acetaminophen are no longer being made. However you can still get the 7.5mg dose of Hydrocodone. I wouldn't want such high amounts of Acetaminophen in my tablets anyways though since the risk of liver damage is always there. Makes me wonder why they still bother putting Acetaminophen in medications, seeing that it offers very little benefits vs risks. Did you also have any specific questions regarding these pills? My script has changed under the new law. It's now Vicodin with 325 acetaminophen. I've noticed that this new pill is giving me a headache. Only the acetaminophen strength has changed. The strength was 7.5/ 750. It's now 7.5/ 325. Anyone have any idea why the headache? When I switch back to the old, no headache. Thanks in advance. ## Hello, Pamela! How are you? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. And has less acetaminophen than vicodin. ## No, it doesn't have less Acetaminophen, considering this has one of the highest doses of it that's presently available in these combination medications, so I'm not sure who told you that. The most commonly prescribed doses of this narcotic medication contain 325mgs or 500mgs of Acetaminophen and this one has 650 mg. There is only one that's higher than this and it has 750mgs in it. The most common look I have seen for this pill is probably white and oblong with a score line on one side. I don't know how many different manufacturers make Vicodin, but if you can provide the name of the one in question I can possibly look it up on their website and let you know the description. Because all I can fine so far is the generic of 750/500 and would like to use less than 500. ## The ES stands for extra strength, so any version of this medication with the ES designation is going to have more Acetaminophen in it, since that's the intent. And yes, Watson actually does make a 7.5/325mg tablet. It is oval and peach in color with the marking WATSON over 3203 on one side and a score line on the opposite side of the tablet.
