Hi, I am taking diclofenac 50mg once a day (night) for about 3 months. Is it alright if I continue to take it at this dose for another month before I see my specialist again? Will it cause me any harm? If I don't take it daily, it will cause me unbearable pain the whole day. By the way, I'm taking it for my rheumatoid arthritis and I am 32 years old, female with no other medical history. ## This is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that is used to treat pain, fever, and inflammation. The FDA warns that it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and stomach irritation. Has your specialist told you to keep taking it? It is always best to follow your doctor's instructions. There is a risk of liver and stomach damage, if it is take...

i am taking 75mg of diclofenac twice a day. How safe is this drug. the internet says it is the most dangerous of all nsaids. Is this true at this dosage? ## Hi Roger, From what I could gather, the usual adult dose of Diclofenac ranges from 25-50 mg orally 3 to 4 times a day or 75 mg orally twice a day. Diclofenac Extended-release dosages are usually administered at 100 mg orally once a day. A number of webpages also make a point of mentioning that the maximum daily dose of Diclofenac is: 225 mg; or 200 mg if you're taking the extended release version. In my opinion, 75mg twice daily (150 mg total daily dose) should be fine for most individuals. However, dangerous side effects can happen with any drug depending the person. It's probably not something you'd want to take long t...

I have been taking diclofenac sod 75 mg ec tab twice a day for about a month, for arthritis in my ankle. It helps early in the day, but does not last until the next pill is due. Same with the one I take in the evening, and when I get up in the morning I can barely walk. Is it possible for these to be prescribed 3 times per day, or would the 100 mg. give me longer coverage, or ? ? ?. I'd appreciate your help. Thanks ## Have you discussed this with your doctor? Diclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and a higher dose won't necessarily give you a longer time of efficacy, but from what I am reading some people with Arthritis do take it up to 3 times a day, as long as they don't go over 200mgs daily. You may want to discuss it with your doctor, because a 50mg dosage taken...

What is the difference between diclofen pot 50mg tab mylan and diclofenac pot 50mg? I've been taking the latter of these for years however this time the script showed up as the diclofen pot 50mg mylan. Should I be concerned? Should I return it to the pharmacy? ## Hi Ron, Diclofen is actually reported to be a common misspelling or abbreviation of Diclofenac. So there shouldn't be any differences in the "active ingredients". However it is important to note that different brands/manufacturers often use a different set of "inactive" ingredients (known as binders/fillers). These are known to have an impact on the drug's overall bioavailability. Other than that, they appear to be the exact same medication and dosage. I hope this helps!
