I took sulfamethoxazole trimethoprim 800/160 mg which expired 2 years ago; but i only took half and I have had a headache all day. Can I now take ibuprofen for the headache? My last dose was 4 and a half hours ago. ## Hello, Renee! How are you feeling? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed, but it is always best to double check to be sure. Since the Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim is an antibiotic, why did you only take half of it? Given that it was also expired, that would likely not be an appropriate dose to treat an infection. The Sulfamethoxazole in this antibiotic can cause increased plasma concentrations of the Warfarin, which can increase your risk of bleeding, so someone that is using both must be carefully monitored by their doctor, because their INR should be checked frequently.
