Why aren't there triamt/hctz tabs available? As I cannot get my script filled by prescription solutions pharmacy? ## The manufacturers of this generic medication have reported a shortage of Triamterene to the FDA, however, a reason for the shortage was not provided. They originally estimated a full supply would return to the market by late last month, but this did not occur and no other information has been provided. In the meantime, the best advice I can give you is to speak to your doctor about using an alternative medication. A comparable one would be Aldactazide, which contains Spironolactone and Hydrochlorothiazide. Are there any other questions? ## Forget shortage. I need this medicine and cannot find it. ## this site does not manufacture any medications and, while there has been a shortage reported, no reason has been given by the companies that do manufacture it. The shortage applies to the Triamterene and the companies involved originally reported that it would be bake on the market in May or June, but this clearly hasn't happened. Have you tried consulting your doctor for an alternative that you can use? A comparable medication would be Aldactazide, which contains Spironolactone and Hydrochlorothiazide.

I BEGAN SUFFERING FROM MENIERE'S SYNDROME IN THE 1960'S. THE SYMPTONS RANGED FROM MILD TO VERY SEVERE. IT CONTINUED FOR YEARS. A DOCTOR PRESCRIBED TRIAMTERENE HCTZ 37.5. I WOULD SAY I HAVE NOT HAD AN EPISODE FOR 10 YEARS OR MORE. SUBSEQUENT DOCTORS HAD NO COMMENT EXCEPT TO SAY IF IT WORKS KEEP TAKING IT. LET ME HAVE YOUR THOUGHTS OR SIMILAR EXPERIENCE. ## Hi, Bill! I'm not a doctor, but from what I know of medication and medical information, Meniere's can sometimes be caused by a buildup of fluid in the ear, though it isn't known why such a buildup occurs or why it doesn't seem to go away… Thus, the reason this medication may help could be due to the HCTZ in it, Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that's used to remove excess fluid from the body. It may h...

I do not seem to be doing as well with the replacement (retaining fluid more) and want my old medicine back! ## It has not been discontinued, at this time, according to the reports that are listed by the FDA, but that could change. The manufacturers have had a shortage of the Triamterene, but they haven't given any explanation as to why and most reported that it would be back on the market in April and May, which has clearly not happened, yet. What medication were you switched to? ## I was switched to hydrochlorot 25 mg...pharmacy told me yesterday they are getting no info except still unavailable. Thanks ## Then the...

Is it safe to take Diovan and Triamterene/hctz together? I just failed a flight physical partly because the ME said these two drugs shouldn't be taken together!! I've been taking them together for about two years as prescribed by my PCP. Really want to get completely off meds but presume I'll need to go slowly. Any advise? Thanks ## It isn't that they shouldn't be taken together, but they can cause some problems, so your doctor must carefully consider the dosage and should be monitoring you regularly. Now, this information is only relevant to the medicine in general. When it comes to specific criteria, such as that related to a flight physical, it may be a prohibited combination, due to the problems that can be caused by using them together. Hello, I have stenosis of the left and right ICA. The left is 75% blocked and right 50% blocked. I possibly have Moyamoya, as well.(Hence the stenosis) My family doctor just switched me to this combo because after being on 50MEQ of potassium, I finally reached a normal level range of potassium. Is this something I should revisit with my doctor? I can't afford anymore narrowing! They are still trying to figure me out. ## Hello, Sheryl! How are you? I've not found anything listed in the side effects provided by the FDA that says this medication may cause more narrowing. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dehydration and increased urination. Have you consulted a cardiologist?

I had open heart surgery in 2000, no problems since. Doc. put me on this medication and won't refill without a office visit ($100 minimum).
