what is the difference between tramadol 50 mg. and tramadol hcl 50 mg.? ## Hello, Shar! How are you? There is no difference, the hcl on the end of the one was just left off of the other, it designates the chemical salt that the medication is derived from. Is there anything else I can help with? ## WRONG ANSWER...THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. I'VE WAS PRESCRIBED TRAMADOL HCL 50 MG [TV58] FOR BACK PAIN IN FEBRUARY. MY DAUGHTER'S ENGLISH MASTIFF DOG, ELSA, WAS JUST RECENTLY PRESCRIBED TRAMADOL 50 MG [AN627] FOR HER PAIN. BOTH Rx CONTAIN 50 MG OF TRAMADOL, BUT ARE DERIVED FROM DIFFERENT FORMULATIONS, THE TRAMADOL 50 MG IS INSTANT RELEASE AND THE HCL IS EXTENDED RELEASE, SLOWER TO ACT, BUT WHICH GIVES LONGER LASTING RELIEF. I SEEM TO RECALL IT'S A MATTER OF A FORMULATION OF HYDROGEN CHL...

So yes, you may not get much more relief from it. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi,i also tak...

I have been prescribed and taking oxycodone 10 hcl, 1-2 tablets every 6 hours. Today saw my spine surgeon (nurse practitioner) to get a refill prescription and what I was given was oxycontin 10 mg extended release, the prescription says to take 1-2 tablets every 6 hours. Isn't this too much from what I have been taking? My pain level has been maintained on the oxycodone 10 hcl every 6 hours along with tramadol 50 mg every 6 hours and neurontin 600 mg 4 times a day. ## No, it's still the same dosage of the relevant medication, because Oxycontin also contains Oxycodone. The different, however, is that what you were taking was the regular release formulation and the Oxycontin is the time released formulation. It's the time interval that could be problematic, because the Oxycont...
