I noticed that since taking the levothyroid I am more depressed, does this drug have that effect, do my other drugs interfer...thanks ## The only relevant warning I can find is that it SHOULD not be taken with Lithium, so that could be having an effect and you should consult your doctor. Does anyone else have any experience with this? ## Taking lithium causes hypothyroidism. You have to take thyroid meds(levothyroid) the rest of your life…not sure about lithium? all things to discuss with your dr. find a Dr. who knows all about thyroid and your lithium

My drug store has switched my thyroid manufacturer from Mylan to Lanne. Since taking the same dosage of 88 mcg, my blood pressure has gone up considerably and I don't normally have high blood pressure. I have some of the older ones and have taken them for the last 3 days and my bp is back to normal. Is this just a coincidence or should I talk to the drug store? I also feel jittery in the neck area. I had the radio active iodine treatment 3 years ago. I feel like my thyroid is out of wack again. I don't have an appointment with my endocrinologist for 3 more months. ## I have been taking a 125mg synthroid and have gain extremely weight! I have to be cleared to have surgery but i think my levels off do you think i will Be cleared? Since i have gain so much weight does this mean my ...

I stopped taking my thyroid meds two weeks ago cause dont have the money for them o was on 75 mg levothrox i feel shakey tired aggitated angry chest hurts throat sore. Amd feel large very tired my blood pressure is also high could it be from this its only been two weeks . ## Hello, Krostie! How are you? Yes, those symptoms could be from going off of the medication, as well as the fact that your thyroid is now left to be out of control. You may also experience nausea, chills and diarrhea, as listed by the FDA. How high is your blood pressure? That could be dangerous, so you need to see a doctor to have it checked it out and rectify this situation. ## I was on the same med and i was so sick and kept blaming it on other things until i did lots of research and found out that that is common....

I started taking levo....about 3 years ago. Off and on really, i am terribly bad at taking medication. In February I stopped taking my levo (Don't ask me why but I couldnt tell you), fast forward to last week when I go in for my doctors follow up (not all due to the thyroid), I didn't say anything to the doctor about not taking the levo and proceeded to have my blood work done. I get the call a couple days later that my thyroid levels were perfect. So i tell them that cant be right and we should retest, I retest and the same results, perfect. How can they be perfect when I haven't taken my meds in 5 months? So either i was taking it before and not needing it or my body just happened to heal itself? Doubtful. Anyone have any insight? ## There are a few reasons why such things...

I have been taken thyroid meds. For about 4/5 yrs now if not longer. Well I stopped taking them another 3 months ago, I ran out and just never got any more. My question is can you have bad itching on your arms from stop taking the meds. I have tried everything and nothing really helps .please help me ?? ## After 3 months, it likely isn't due to the medications, but it could be due to your thyroid disorder. Thyroid issues have been known to cause such itching, according to the NIH. You may also experience weight changes and mood changes. Why did you stop taking it? Are you on any other medications? ## Hi thank you for taking your time and answering me. I must say ,it was not long after I stopped taking them that the itching started .it has been going on for so long now I really don...

I was taking 120mg once a day of the Armour thyroid, then I had to get a mail order RX so when it came in the mail today the bottle said 2GR.. I thought 2gr was equevilent to like 2000mg??? So I was just wondering before I took my meds if the GR-mg were correct? Thanks for your help. J ## Yes, your understanding of the conversion is correct. However, the best way to get a definitive answer would be to have more information on the tablets, so I can look them up for you. Are there any markings on them? Is there a manufacturer listed? I just received my labs, I'm 5'7" 150lbs, black male. My TSH 17.17 and my T4 1.08, I am currently on 100mcg, and my doctor increased me to 125mcg of levothyroxine. Does this seem normal, I was on 200mcg my entire high school and middle school life. Now I'm 23 and this new doctor doesn't seem to think I'll need that much, but I'm trying to join the navy and you can't unless your hypo and it's controlled on meds. ## Also, I've been hypo since I was 10yrs old. Got hashimotos and it did work on my thyroid, currently zero thyroid function and has been like this for over a decade now. ## Hello, Nappyclouds! How are you doing? If you really fear that this doctor may not be properly handling your condition, then the best thing to do would be to see a diff...

Please let me kn if im on syndroid for hypo throid I take in morn on weekend can I drink a beer and be ok ## Hello, 1carolyn! How are you? It's best to abstain from drinking, when taking any prescription medication. However, if your doctor approves of your imbibing, please keep it in moderation and be aware that you may experience more intense side effects than usual, so you may feel more nauseousness, dizziness and drowsiness. Thus, you should also make sure that you will not be driving or operating any dangerous machinery. The FDA list the other side effects of this medication as possibly including weight changes and hair loss. Is there anything else I can help with?

For underactive thyroid conditon ## I am trying to find a listing of the inert ingredients in Armour thyroid medicine ## Why is it so important to find the ingredients in a medication that has helped millions of people for many years? I have taken this medication for 25 years without any complications or side effects. Why isn't that enough for doctors? Don't they listen to their patients anymore. Are you a doctor or just a person I'm dumping on. ## Is ArmourThyroid meds is it better than Levothyroxine ??? ## Sunshine, there is really no way to say, since we are all different, it is really a matter of trial and error to discover what medication works for you, without causing unwanted side effects that make you miserable. The FDA warns that they both may cause similar side eff...

Hi all this is my first post, I am so glad I came upon this forum, I am 56 have been on levothyroxine for 3 years, I am taking 150micrograms a day. For the past 10 week I have had what I can only discribe as dry eyes (after doing hours of reserch on the net) the last month my eyes have got much worse, they water continusly they are very blood shot they are stuck together in the morning, swollen lids and under eye. I had a blood test last week and was told to reduce my levo by 25mg, but my eyes seemed to get worse. I have decided to come of my meds all together and see if that helps this will be my thrid day without the meds please keep fingers crossed that this will help my eyes as I am so depressed with them that I won't even go out. I do not recommend that anyone come of their med...

After taking linzess for 8 months I gained 20 pounds and developed every symptom for hypothyroidism again. For the past 12 years I have been on synthroid 75. I have not had any hypothyroid symptoms once I began taking synthroid until taking the linzess medication. I stopped taking linzess and hoping it will exit my body quickly so my synthroid meds will begin working again. Why don't doctors tell you it prevents your thyroid meds from working? Why don't they tell you it will make you gain weight? I just hope I can get my thyroid and my weight under control again. ## A follow up on my hypothyroidism symptoms that was caused by Linzess: dr ran a TSH, T4, and a T3 blood test and the results showed I was on the low end but still within the acceptable range of the T3, the T4 and TSH ...

Hi, I am a 36 yr old female. I started noticing hair loss and brain fog about 2 years ago. I finally had my thyroid tested and Dr said it was on low end of normal so prescribed 25 levothyroxine. No change in symptoms so increased to 50 things seemed to become more stable. Then retested about a month ago and increased me to 75. Have been feeling really weird in my head, like my head is floating/just off, hard to describe plus hair loss got worse. Dr said to go back to 50. My question is...is there something natural I can take instead of prescription drugs. I feel like my symptoms are not that horrible that I want to be on meds forever but there is so much confusing info/products out there its hard to know what is safe. Don't have any issues with energy or weight. I exercise daily. ##...

I can't stay awake! I almost made my daughter late to school today! I'm on 3 mg of Xanax a day and 40 mg of by rid PLUS my thyroid is out of wack! I know I need to be on more! I think this is why I'm so sleepy all of the time, but I'm thinking of cutting my viibryd in half and just taking 20 mg a day! To see if that will help! I'm on a drug they give soldiers that come home from war and take 3 a night to sleep or I have horrible nightmares :/ Any ideas??? ## It is most likely the Xanax, it is well known to cause drowsiness and, in some case, when other options aren't working, it's actually used to treat insomnia. It may be best to speak to your doctor, as 3mgs may be too high of a dose for you. The FDA warns that it also carries the risk of being habit formin...

I take thyroid meds and Migraine Meds....How do I ensure that the Linzess isn't "getting rid of" these meds before they are in my system? I'm taking the thyroid meds 1 hour before (as required) the Linzess and the Topamax with my breakfast. Is that the right order? Also...I've been steadily losing weight successfully for a couple of months....have taken Linzess for 4 days because went low carb and stopped going to the bathroom....gained over 2 lbs in 4 days without changing any food intake and drinking 100 ounces of water a day and having diarrhea. How is that even possible. Will I just have to stop taking it to stop the weight gain? How does the med cause weight gain if it gets rid of waste? ## The Linzess should be taken by itself, at least half an hour before eati...

How are you? No, there shouldn't be any problems, since Implanon doesn't use estrogens and that is what antibiotics usually affect to decrease the efficacy of contraceptives, but you should double check with your doctor or pharmacist to be certain. generic for synthroid ## any thyroid meds .88mcg without blue dye as an ingredient ## Hello, Based on my research, Levothyroxine is a generic for the brand name medication Synthroid. It is a synthetic form of the thyroid hormone thyroxine, which is normally secreted by the follicular cells of the thyroid gland. It is also used to treat thyroid hormone deficiency, hypothyroidism and occasionally to prevent the recurrence of thyroid cancer. "Less serious" symptoms include: -Changes in weight -Changes in your menstrual periods -Hair loss -Mild headache If you notice other side effects that you think are caused by this medicine, tell your doctor. Marazipe with lithium..thyroid meds..larazidine and 1/2 sleep aid. My stomache has started to ache and have to keep running to restroom. I have sopped nuts..popcorn..dairy... Very agruvating. ## Did you mean Mirtazapine? I'm unsure, because there are several similar medication names. Can you please check the spelling of your medications and post back? As reported by the FDA, most antidepressants can cause diarrhea and stomach pain as side effects, along with headache, dizziness and weight gain. Usually, such side effects are transient and taper off, as your body adjusts to the medication.

Was on Levothyrosin, synthroid, and Armor thyroid meds over the past 7 years. The experience that I had with each one goes as follows. Levothyrosin made me feel like crap! I was tired, moody, sad, and questioned my sanity while I was on it. Weight gain! Synthroid made my skin, hair dry and brittle! It made me feel very irritated about little things. Weight fluctuation! Next, Armor I liked because I felt great! It helped me get my skin and hair back on a healthy course. Weight loss 20lbs! However, finding a doctor to write a prescription for it became too difficult when I relocated. Every doctor I asked said it may be a natural thyroid med because it comes from a pig but there is nothing natural about it! Anyway, My new doctor asked me to try Tirosint because it was in a liquid gel form and i...

I have a lousy cold (heavy coughing, headache, very weak,). Doctor gave me this medication. I take meds for HBP, cholestorol, thyroid. Is this ok to take for this. Im 79 ## He gave you an antibiotic to treat cold symptoms? That really makes no sense, a cold is caused by a virus and this will nothing to clear it up or treat the symptoms. This will only help if you have a bacterial infection of some type. Learn more Bactrim details here. Additionally, this is a sulfa based antibiotic and it is notorious for causing crazy side effects, that coupled with your age and high blood pressure means it may cause you some problems if you have a bad reaction to it. Such reactions are known to elevated blood pressure, it did it to me last year when I took it once. That final decision, of course, is up...
