Tartrazine

Is the yellow dye in the Qualitest hydrocodone tablets tartrazine, aka FD & C yellow # 5? Many people, myself included, are highly sensitive to this dye. Lots of manufacturers still use it, for unknown reasons. But some have switched to an iron compound for the yellow color (who needs it?!). I have spent much time online trying to get this info, to no avail. If anyone knows, your response would be greatly appreciated! ## Hello, Bluecat! How are you? orange tablet ## antibiotic ## Does Watson Labs doxycycl 100 mg (orange tablet) contain yellow #5 or tartrazine? ## I got a prescription for Doxycycline 100 mg, 2 x day foe 7 days.(for tick bite) Since the pharmacy put the wrong doctor's name on the bottle, I want to verufy that the pills look like. These are round, 9 mm in diameter, pinkish-orange in color, unscored, with Z 3626 embossed on one side. Is this correct? ## Doxycycline is an antibiotic that is used to treat, or prevent bacterial infections. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash. Is it like water or thicker ## From what little information I was able to find, it is noted to be made from a syrup base by many manufacturers; meaning that it would be a thicker consistency than water. A liquid formulation ingredient list may look like this: Methadone Hydrochloride (HCL) BP 1mg/1mL Glucose syrup Green S (E142) Tartrazine (E102) Sunset Yellow (E110) Parabens (preservative) Ethanol Trace chloroform water. There are other mixtures as well that use different syrup bases like Sorbitol syrup or Unpreserved syrup. Additional information that I gathered states that "different liquid formulations only alter the medium in which the methadone is dissolved and will therefore have the same effect on the client." My dosage was just changed from 50mg. every other day 75mg every other day. My new dosage is 75mg everyday now. Since I started my dosage change I have been getting a rash every 2 or 3 days. It itch's very bad. Has anyone else had this problem? ## The skin rash is listed as one of the less common, but more severe side effects requiring medical attention, so you should consult your doctor immediately. I had the same problems with you. ## You may be sensitive to the coloring used in 75mcg Levothyroxine, which is Tartrazine. Syntroid 50mcg has no coloring.
