Can this be used for fever blisters ## Hello, Pearl! How are you? Since fever blisters are caused by a virus, rather than a bacteria, this will not help. Fever blisters are also what are known as cold sores, they are caused by a herpes simplex virus, as explained by the NIH. There are over the counter remedies that you can try, if your doctor approves, or if you get them regularly, your doctor can prescribe a medication to help prevent them that's called Acyclovir. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain. Is there anything else I can help with? ...

Is sulfatiazol safe to use for pruritus - from kidney failure ## Based on my research, this is a cream or ointment sold in mexico used to treat infections of the skin and burns. It contains sulfur. It was once used fairly commonly, until other less toxic options were found. The toxicity of it is why it is no longer available in the U.S. However to further answer your question, I think it really depends on whether or not the Pruritus (Itching) is due to an infection and not just an allergic reaction to something else. If you can determine that it is in fact an infection, then yes, this medication may be used for such treatment. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Sulfathiazole Details I hope this helps! ...

We used to be able to get this for use with infections and cuts.Very effective. is it availa ble for purchase? ## From what I'm able to gather, Sulfathiazole Penicillin ointment is primarily sold in Mexico and seldom found in the U.S. Another user on this site mentioned that: "I found it possible to purchase it in any state of mexico at any pharmacy in the city. You will almost always find it at a pharmacy in tijuana. It is very common." Because it is not readily available in the U.S. I recommend searching online under various mexican-based drug stores, as that is probably your best bet, aside from actually going to Mexico to pick some up. I hope this helps! ## Could this use on if u have a Virginia iche ...

A friend from Panama gave me some Unguento de Sulfatioazol with 07/2012 expiration date. She suggested it would work to heal skin cancer on my nose. The skin cancer is a result of radiation treatments on lymph nodes of the head. What I read on this website indicates this is not a safe product and may not even be what's needed since it is an antibiotic for infections. What can you tell me about use of this product? ## Hello, Suzey! How are you? I'm very sorry about the cancer. And yes, you are correct, according to the FDA, this is an antimicrobial and it will not treat any type of cancer. Since this is an ointment, typical side effects involved skin rash, redness and irritation. However, I strongly urge you to have the cancer treated properly, by your doctor. Is there anything e... ...

How do you use sulfatiazol powder? How do you measure it? ## Dianne, If it's not clearly stated on the packaging, I would suggest contacting the manufacturer directly just to be on the safe side. From what I've gathered on my own research, it appears to be a product of Mexico. However, I've yet to come across any specific dosing instructions for proper application. I know with some powders they make you use your own best judgement like you would with baby powder (i.e. just enough to cover a specific region where it's needed). But ultimately, with no instructions it's really anyone's call. I just don't understand how they could expect people to use their products without any disclosure. Did you order it online? ...

Will this product stop new tattoos from pealing? Will it make the ink run? Is it okay for new tattoos? ## Hello, Bek! How are you? No, it will not stop the peeling. That is a natural process, because skin cells are killed and damaged, while the tattoo is done, so nothing is going to stop a layer or two of skin from peeling off. No, topical ointments will not make the ink run, it is actually down in the tissue and not on the surface where that could happen. And no, you aren't supposed to use an antibiotic ointment on your tattoo. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I know in the comments above it says not to use pomada penicilina on a new tattoo. In less than a week from the accident all his wounds were gone. I was wondering if you can use this for like acne scabs or acne cuts ? ## Hello, Kelly! How are you? This is an antibiotic ointment, that's used to treat or prevent infections. You really shouldn't use it, without your doctor's approval, because improper use may lead to your developing antibiotic resistance. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I fell and scrap my whole lower leg and my husband came with the cream to put on my cut.
