getting severe headaches in the evenings, some worse than others. Is this due to this medication? ## Headaches are actually listed as a side effect of Sertraline. Referenced from: If it's becoming too bothersome or severe, I would strongly suggest looking into some natural alternatives or opting for a different medication. You have to keep in mind though that all prescription drugs are going to pose the risk of side effects; so in my opinion, natural is the way to go, depending upon your reasoning for taking Sertraline. I hope this info helps!

I'm 50 years old and have been on Sertraline since about 1995 to 1997. I finally came to the conclusion that I am better off without it. (I know. I'm not sure why I stayed on it for so long) I have seen a lot of information on the Internet to finally make me cynical of the medical "profession" and the drug "community" to make me realize that it's a multi-billion dollar business. As this is my tenth day after I took the very last dose, I still do feel a little lightheaded, but much better than last week when I had some headaches, diarrhea, and a felt a little nervous. I have read this forum and really hurt to think some people are addicted to this drug, and many others, but cannot stop. My heart goes out to you. For every 100 people with a question here, it se...

I have been taking two 25mg in Sertraline and now I take one 50mg, I prefer to take two 25mg tablets because taking a 50mg tablet is to much for me to take all at once, but my pharmacist say that they have never given me 25mg in sertraline, but I sure that they have. ## Have you talked to your doctor about writing the prescription as two 25mg tablets, rather than 50mgs? If so, then the pharmacy has to dispense them that way, regardless of what their past records show, so the problem would be eliminated. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Sertraline as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood changes, and weight changes. Ref: Medline Plus Sertraline

Don't like the way I feel. Tired all the time, dizzy, also low grade headache . I,have slowly cut back on them. Suppose to take 150 mg day. Now I' am down to 50mg Is this a good way to get off of them ## Hello, Kathy! How are you? Yes, a slow taper is really the only way to get off of this medication, otherwise, it causes some problematic withdrawal effects. You may still experience some, as listed by the FDA, they may include dizziness, headache, rebound depression, body aches and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I've been taking sertaline for about a month now 50mg it was increased to 75 mg but I stay at 50 it gives me a weird feeling like a down feeling is this normal. ## Hello, Barbara! How are you? Why aren't you taking the 75mg dosage? The U.S. FDA classifies this as an SSRI antidepressant and lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. It can cause some people to feel depressed, rather than lifting the depression as it should. Have you informed your doctor? It may not be the right medication for you.

Been on 50mg of sertraline for 4years. Four days ago after suffering server anxiety I took 100mg one day and 75mg the next.Due to feeling very spaced out and sick I have gone back to 50mg but still feel dizzy and sick. Why has this happened and when will it subside. ## Hello, Karen! How are you? For this medication to help with anxiety, it must be taken at a consistent dose for 4 to 6 weeks, so jumping up only for a day, or two won't do much more than cause more side effects, as you experienced. It may take another week, or so for things to settle back down and for you to start to feel better. If not, you should consult your doctor. Other typical side effects, as listed by the U.S. FDA, may possibly include nausea, headache, dry mouth and weight gain. How are you feeling, now? ## Th...

I have been on sertraline (generic of Zoloft) for ~8 months (? maybe for longer. I don't have the best memory). My current dose is 150 mg, which I've been taking for ~2 months. It's helped my anxiety but not my depression symptoms, so my psychiatrist is switching me to fluoxetine (generic of Prozac). For the first week I'm supposed to take 100 mg of sertraline and 20 mg of fluoxetine; for another week take 50 mg of sertraline and 40 mg of fluoxetine; then just take 60 mg of fluoxetine. Previously when I've switched SSRIs (with a different psychiatrist) I went completely off one before starting the other. I'm worried about the risks of taking more than one SSRI at once, does this sound dangerous or is it a safe way to switch? Has anyone done a similar thing with t...

I wanted to know if Sertraline is similar to a Xanax? My boyfriend recently got prescribed Sertrailine HCL 50 mg (tablet L U D02) for his panic attacks and anxiety. He told me it was like taking a xanax that he was once prescribed before. I was wondering if they were similar? ## Hi Cherish, Even though your boyfriend said that the drugs feel similar for him, Sertraline (brand name Zoloft) and Alprazolam (brand name Xanax) are actually in 2 different drug classes. As a side note, the NDC code of the tablet which you have described is 68180-352. Sertraline is considered an SSRI antidepressant most commonly prescribed for depression, but it can also be prescribed for anxiety or panic disorder. Alprazolam is considered a benzodiazepine prescribed to treat anxiety. So all in all they are qui...
