Is the Prevacid solutab time-released even though it doesn't have beads in it? ## Have just been prescribed prevacid solutab for infant with reflux. This tablet looks different from the one I'm familiar with in that it has no pink granules. It's white and is of a completely smooth consitency...no beads in it at all so i am concerned that it isnt time released.... ## A solutab is an orally disintegrating tablet, meant to start dissolving on contact with the saliva in someone's mouth and it not supposed to look like the other tablets. If this is for an infant, then that makes sense, because they may choke on a regular tablet. Prevacid contains the active ingredient Lansoprazole, which is a proton pump inhibitor that is used to reduce th amount of acid produced by the stoma...

Never again I'll i take a PPI. ESPECIALLY Prevacid. I was prescribed this by my Gastro for esophagitis, gastritis, and a hiatal hernia. The day after i started taking the medicine i woke up feeling like i had to urinate. i went like normal, and i immediately afterwards i felt like i had to go really bad again. I went again but only a few drops came out. i was afraid it was a UTI so i went to the doctor that day and and she told me that i didn't have any infection. she gave me Cipro just in case but it didn't help 6 days later i was back in the doctor and still the tests came back negative. she told me maybe my urine was ultra concentrated and irritating me making me feel like i had to go. i did also get flank pain and it felt like my back was radiating heat. but she just told m

I went to er on Tuesday and was told I have gastritis but I haven't had the scope test yet to know why. They gave me prevacid and since then I have been nothing but dizzy, jittery, nauseous with headaches and was wondering if there is something else I can take until i get the test on Wednesday. Any feedback would be helpful. ## Hi, Sabrina! Very sorry to hear about the gastritis, that is very miserable pain. How are you feeling today? And as to the scope, that may never explain why you have it, it's almost like getting an ulcer over the entire inside surface of your stomach and it can happen for various reasons, such as an injury in a car wreck or while playing sports, many medications can cause it, as well as heavy drinking and eating highly spicy/acidic foods. I am a fellow su...

Stop use of Prevacid how? How do I discontinue use of Prevacid? Do I stop all at once or taper off? ## Hello, Donna! How are you? This isn't a habit forming medication, so you should be able to just stop it, as long as your doctor approves. However, as reported by the FDA, you may experience some rebound acidity for a week or so, if you stop it abruptly. Is there anything else I can help with?

I developed severe acid reflux and my doctor put me on a regiment of Prevacid twice daily. I was on this s*** for 15 years. While did the job in preventing the acid reflux, it has slowly been destroying my body from the inside out. First it caused drastic changes in my stool, always soft with a pudding consistency, and eventual drainage. It caused my bones to mini fracture and may have the cause of my current back problems. It caused my joints to weaken to the point where it did permanent damage to one of my ankles. It caused severe fatigue, it caused liver and kidney pain and likely did damage to one of my kidneys. Only after thousands of dollars in tests and doctor bills a different doctor put me on Pantprazole and everything has cleared up I am convinced that prevacid was never prope...

I have done tons of research... prevacid or dexilant etc are meant to be taken for about 2 months..... myself and many other people have been on it for years! acid reflux can be caused by TOO LITTLE ACID, so maybe the medication is making it worse, now i am feeling one of the many side effects? (nausea and stomach cramping off and on for last year) or perhaps Apple cider vinegar does neutralize the reflux? I bet of all the people who have reflux 95% can be helped with ORGANIC APPLE CIDER VINEGAR.... i couldn't go off the meds, even if i forgot the daily pill, i would have heartburn by midday and then i would have heartburn constantly... SO MANY PEOPLE say ACV works, i had the regular one, but they said it has to be organic with mother of the apple?... so i tried it... a few days now, n

I TAKE LEVOTHYROXINE AND PREVACID TOGETHER EACH MORNING. COULD THERE BE AN INTERACTION BETWEEN THESE TWO DRUGS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP. ## Based on my research, there are no drug interactions listed between these two medications; deeming them safe to take together. Levothyroxine however, does have a 'food interaction'. Quoted below is the information that you may want to be aware of: "The timing of meals relative to your levothyroxine dose can affect absorption of the drug. Therefore, levothyroxine should be taken on a consistent schedule with regard to time of day and relation to meals so as to maintain steady blood levels. In addition, absorption of levothyroxine may be decreased by foods such as soybean flour, cotton seed meal, walnuts, dietary fiber, calcium, and calciu...

Is Dexilant 30mg the same potincy as Prevacid 30mg. I have heard that Dexilant is stronger that Prevacid. ## Hello, Tdog! How are you? They are basically equivalent, because they are enantiomers of each other, IE: their molecules are mirror images. One may work better for you than the other, due to idiosyncrasies of the human body, but otherwise, neither is stronger than the other. The FDA lists the typical side effects of PPIs as possibly including nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and flatulence. Is there anything else I can help with?

The manufacturer of prevacid (lansoprazole) recommends usage of this drug for up to 8 months. I have been on this for years. What studies have been done to date on long term usage of this drug? ## I have been on lansoprazole for 10 years and since then have had many problems including reactions to drugs, anaphylatic shock, arrythymia, high cholesterol, osteopenia and migraine. ## To clarify this question…. The reason they are concerned about long-term use of Lansoprazole or any of the other PPIs, is due to the fact that they were found to cause brittleness in some bones, such as those of the hip when used for longer than the recommended duration. This resulted in a large number of hip fractures among the people that took them for too long. Learn more Lansoprazole detai...

I take 30 mg of Prevacid , 10 mg Lipitor , 10 mg Cipralex at bed time. Supper time I take Ferrous Gluconate 300 mg. Today the doctor diagnosed me with a UTI, and given APO-Sulfatrim DS 800/160 mg 1 tablet twice a day. My question is, is this antibiotic okay with everything I'm taking? Any interactions with anything? Thanks, Stella ## Hello, Stella! How are you? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed, but you should double check this information to be certain. Side effects to the antibiotic may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

It makes my stomach hurt worse, what's the difference between this pill and Prevacid ## Hello, Jean! How are you? Prevacid contains the active ingredient Lansaprazole. The capsule in question is listed by Apotex as containing 40mgs of Omeprazole, which is a generic for Prilosec. Both, however, are the same type of medication. The FDA does list stomach pain as being a possible side effect of these medications, along with nausea, dizziness and flatulence. So, it could be that the Omeprazole is causing you more side effects than Prevacid did. Is there anything else I can help with?
