Does percocet come in 20mg? ## I'm assuming you're referring to the amount of the narcotic in it, the Oxycodone? If so, then NO, it does not. Percocet, which contains the Oxycodone, coupled with Acetaminophen, is only available in a maximum dosage of 10mgs Oxycodone and 650mgs of Acetaminophen. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and dizziness. Please help me. I suffer pain all the time from my Fibromyalgia to my disc and back problems. Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone and is only available with a maximum of 10mgs of the Oxycodone. I have been on Percocet 10/650 for around 8 yrs. now for my back. They cannot do surgery because the bone and discs in my spine are not strong enough to hold any type of device. They have now changed it to Oxycodone 15 mg but doesn't seem to help. Is Oxycodone 15 stronger than the Percocet 10/650? I am NOT looking for drugs and the high that some give. My profession is very important to me and I would NEVER risk loosing it due to drugs, however, I am on my feet for at least 12 hrs. a day on concrete. How would a doctor write out a prescription for 15mg percs? Would it just say 15mg Percocet? I currently take 7.5mg/325 percocets but I'm going to a new doctor since mine moved away and I wanted to change the mgs to 15 without the acetaminophen. I'm taking 15mg of morphine and my doctor wants to give me percocet due to a recent diagnosis, so I'm kinda wondering if the medication I have now is better or is it about the same? ## Hi Shelly, According to nih.gov, Oxycodone (one of the main active ingredients in Percocet) is said to be approximately 1.5x stronger than Morphine. If this holds true and I did the math correctly, then 7.5mg of Oxycodone would be equal to about 11.25mg of Morphine (7.5 x 1.5 =11.25); and 10mg of Oxycodone would be equal to about 15mg of Morphine (10 x 1.5 =15). The addition of Acetaminophen in Percocet would probably top the 15mg of Morphine if you were prescribed the 10/325 dosage form. I hope this makes sense!? im sorry i had wrong dose its 10-325 oxycodone-acetaminophen and morphine sulfate ir 30 mg ## Oxycodone is one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so if you were taking the 30mgs of Morphine and wanted to switch to Oxycodone, you'd only need 15mgs of the Oxycodone. Thus, technically the 15mg Oxycontin is stronger, but it is time released and doesn't work all at once, like the Percocet. Percocet also contains Acetaminophen with the Oxycodone, which helps it work better for some people. And thus, that means that neither is more of less addictive. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I was taking 40 mg of OxyContin for a rare bone syndrome. I have chronic back, leg, and joint pain. I starter taking percocet but I find to get the pain managed I have to take up to at least 5 pills at once of the percocets to match that of the OxyContin. Is this okay and does that make since? Especially since I am taking up to 15 a day? should I just ask to be switched back to OxyContin? ## I am very sorry that you're in so much pain. Yes, you should definitely look into switching off of the Percocet. It contains both Oxycodone and Acetaminophen and you are exceeding the daily maximum dosage of Acetaminophen, which is just 3,000mgs. Each Percocet tablet contains 325mgs of it, so you should not be taking more than 9 of them a day, at most. Taking more than that risks fatal toxicity....

I've been taking Norco 10/3.25 for years for severe chronic pain--It's now no longer effective at all--I'm wondering about changing to Percocet 10/3.25 and whether this would be a stronger, more effective and longer lasting med to take--I've tried also Oxy.10 mg. hcl and they work so so and notice I need to take way more often than I ever did with Norco. I've been taking 15mg of Percocet with Tylenol in them for a year. My dr just gave me a 20mg dose without the Tylenol, but it doesn't seem to be working as well. I have had the pleasure of eating 15 - 20 Percocet 30 every day for the past month. Well, my luck, and money has run out. I am hurting and don't have anything to fall back on.
