I have a severe sore throat and I am feeling nauseous. I was prescribed this medication when I was pregnant because I cannot take penicillin. I am allergic to Penicillins-hives & acute breathing reaction; Bactrim-acute breathing reaction; Ceclor-shortness of breath; Vicodin-shortness of breath; Clindamycin-shortness of breath. I've been having a sore throat for the past few days. The symptoms got worse every day. I started to sneeze, cough, and got a fever. I filled a prescription for some Penicillin called Ampicillina 500 mg per capsule from Mexico. I was instructed to take them every 8 hours, however, 3 pills a day seemed a bit much for me so I took one at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23rd, and then another one 8 hours later. The next dose would have been at 7:00 a.m., on Wednesday, May 24th, but I didn't take one till 9:30 a.m.. I forgot to take another 8 hours later, and I remembered this at 10:39 p.m., so I took another dose at 10:39 p.m.. I set an alarm this time but must have slept through it as I didn't wake up until 8:30 a.m., and I took the next dose at 8:39 a.m.. I do feel worse today, howeve...

If so, it is an antibiotic used to treat various types of infections. However, the length of treatment and dosing depends on the type and severity of infection being treated and this site is not medical professionals to make a guess at that. Not all sore throats are caused by infections and using these if it isn't creates problems. Our grandson has been on amoxicillen since Wednesday afternoon for a sore throat. His fever is still 100º and his throat is still sore and swollen. I think he should be feeling better by now. The step test was negative. His Dr is not open on Saturdays. Should we discontinue the Amoxicillin on the possibility that he is allergic to it? His Dad (our son) and our other two children were allergic to penicillin drugs. ## keep taking it till you see your doctor and if he still has a fever take him to the hospital since the doctor is not open but I'm not sure. tell your doctor about it first. I hope he feels better!

Is it safe to use this after the expiration date? I have a full bottle of 800,000 U that has a date posted of Sep 30 2005. I am 70 years old and was likely infected by 2 people coughing in a 1 1/2 hr bus ride in Cuba (poor recycled air). I got a sore throat within 24 hr then, laryngitis & cough for last 8 days & saw the ER MD in FL. Told them I am allergic to Penicillin and have Asthma. Can I continue the Rx & can I take Claritin for my allergies (mold, pollen, dust etc)? Is topical Aloe gel ok for a rash since the rash is systemic? Or should I go back to the ER for a different Rx? Is ok to go in Sun w/ spf 50?
