For all who live in Florida you are aware of the terrible problem of filling narcotic pain medication prescriptions. I am not connected with this petition but want you to be aware of it and I am providing a link to this petition so hopefully pharmacies will be forced to carry adequate supply of medication for refills. I moved to Florida to retire from Missouri. I am sorry I made this choice as I must go sometime weeks waiting on a pharmacy any of them to have quantity to fill my script. trying to keep a regular pharmacy these days to fill my scrip for 30mg oxys - I've been going to pain med doc for over 7 years and unfortunately have been using Walgreens in the past who seem to have simply decided not to carry them with the exception of the 15mg's - anyone in Hillsborough county had luck with other pharmacies? who take insurance?? It's October 10th 2013 and I get prescribed 10 mg methadone 3 times daily for chronic pain related to 2 herniated disks I've had for 13 years with nerve compression to the point of my right leg being either numb or on fire , and I can't seem to find these anywhere . Except for Walgreens and they flagged me today for lbeing suspicious. I'm 35 years old and am bald, have a long beard, and tattoos. So I know where that came from. I think I had a shortage in my box this month of fentanyl patches. Usually there are 5 per box. I started to change my patch this evening and I only had two in the package. There should had been 3. This is one of the few times that I didn't count my patches upon opening the box. I have a routine in the evenings when it is time for the change of the patch. So my husband and I spent time trying to construct my procedures for the last couple of changes trying to see if there was a possibility that I dropped one in the floor and it slid under something. This is a nightmare!! I suffer from multiple auto-immune diseases such as Connective Tissue Disease, R.A, Livedo, Raynauds, & traces of Lupus. All of which cause EXCRUTIATING PAIN!! On top of all of those, my body attacks itself 24/7!! Over the years the doctors have tried a ridiculous amount of different pain medications. Can a pharmacist just be quite and fill the script the doctor ordered for his patient.They lie to us and then fill freds script for the same thing and smile while they do it.We are tax paying citizens in pain and the DEA has made a real mess of everything. I'm hoping this link works, it not please go to DEA/Florida/2012 in your search. The reason we are having such a hard time with getting scripts filled is that once again, one of the Walgreen's Dist Centers is back under investigation for overselling and 6 of the major Walgreens Pharms are also. I spoke to my pharmacist the other day and most of the Walgreen's in Jax FL are backing off of the orders for awhile due to this new investigation by DEA, drivers are being stalked and harassed, Pharmacy personal are also being threatened. It is a very sad situation for the people who really need this medication. And it is not only the oxy's, it is all pain med's. I understand that the DEA wants to cut down on the illegals, but what about the people that have legitimate reasons for using Oxycodone. These people will have to go through withdrawl, and be in unbearable pain. I know that there is something that can be done for us that have serious lower back pain, and other issues. If this is the case have the DEA, pull the persons medical records and check their history. I moved from OHIO, to Florida due to my injuries, now I have to deal with this. I filled with CVS for three years and went in to fill my script and the pharmacist told me they have new rules, the doctor has to be within five miles of the pharmacy and you have to live within five miles of the pharmacy and refused to fill them. My PM MD just prescribed Oxycontin 15mg 3x to replace the too-many hydro & oxycodone pills I've been taking for severe back/hip pain. Just saw a UM surgeon who says surgery is not an option; its scoliosis and arthritis. Anyway, I've called over 10 pharmacies, including CVS and Wal-Green 24 hr. locations - and NOBODY has any Oxycontin. My husband suffers from sciatica and has suffered from it for at least 10 years. He has had 2 major invasive back surgeries to release pressure off of his sciatic nerve. The second surgery got him off of the floor and enabled him to function but only with the help of Norco and Tylenol and Ibuprofen. For some reason there is NO Norco available in Houston or the surrounding suburbs at this time. I am a 51 y/o who lives in Florida, suffering from chronic back pain, and have been prescribed to take up to six 30mg oxycodone tablets a day for over two years by my Pain Management doctor. However, when I went to fill my prescription almost 4 weeks ago, my pharmacy told me their distributor had stopped shipping oxycodone to Florida pharmacies.
