Oxycontin 15 Mg Time Released

I have oxycontin 15 mg for cancer pain. Finding it difficult to determine how much is released into the bloodstream at intervals. Does it 'peak' at a certain time? Or, once it breaks down inside the body, is it an even release throughout the 12 hours? I'm imagining it is like taking 5 mg of oxycodone every 4 hours. Correct? Thanks! ## Hello, Matronum! How are you? The way it is made, the pill media slowly dissolves over a period of 12 hours, due to your stomach acid, so the medication is just very gradually release, rather than releasing boluses every so many hours. Think of an ice cube slowly melting in a warm room, it's really just drop, by drop, until it fully melts. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects,...

I'm having break thru pain which is seriously painful. What could My pain Dr do? ## Hello, SolidMike! How are you? Since this is a time released medication, your doctor could prescribe an instant or regular release one, in addition to it, to help with breakthrough pain. There are quite a few choices that can be prescribed. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you spoken to them about the problem? ## I I really feel for everyone here that is really hurting and not just seeking a high. my Dr has me on 2 -15Mg Ms Contin per day with 2- percocet 10's. well long story short they aren't helping at all.what is the next step? can't sleep. const...

which is stronger--10 mg of Percocet or 15 mg of oxycontin? Which is more addictive? ## Hello, CS! How are you? They both contain the same narcotic, which is Oxycodone. Thus, technically the 15mg Oxycontin is stronger, but it is time released and doesn't work all at once, like the Percocet. Percocet also contains Acetaminophen with the Oxycodone, which helps it work better for some people. And thus, that means that neither is more of less addictive. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

20mg Oxycontin OP doesn't seem to work as well for me. I take it 3 times a day with 15mg oxycodone breakthru. Can anyone suggest a replacement for the 20mg's. Would a 15mg oxycodone and a 5 mg oxycodone work as well. Thanks so much for your help. ## It would be the same dosage, but since those ones are not time released, it would not last as long to relieve your pain, so such a dosage would have to be taken more frequently. Generally the regular formulations have to be taken 3 to 4 times a day, as opposed to the every 12 hours that you take Oxycontin. There have been many complaints regarding the new formulation not being as effective as the original, as well as comments that it caused odd side effects. If you had a problem with it, I suggest reporting them to both Purdue and th...

I am taking 30 mgs. Oxycodone up to 3 pills per day for severe back pain. Years ago I was on Oxycontin and don't remember the mgs. What is the difference between these two medications. I believe Oxycontin is stronger if they are the same dosage, is that correct? ## Hello, Candy! How are you? Oxycodone is the active ingredient in Oxycontin, it's just in a time released formulation that's designed to slowly release the medication over a period of 12 hours. So no, neither is stronger. It's just that the regular Oxycodone that you're taking now is released all at once, within 15 to 20 minutes of your taking it. This medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else ...

I presently take 1 30mg morphine 3X day and 1 15mg mor.ER 2X day. It is not enough. I could take 50mg 4Xday and it might work. BUT instead of asking to up the morphine wouldn't it be better to ask for Hydromorphone 4mg 3X a day. I am not conc. About side effects, on diss.. What would I take in place of ER? ## Hello, Andre! How are you? The ER is a time released formulation, the goal with it is to give you better pain control, while using the other to handle break through pain. So, a regular release Hydromorphone isn't going to be able to do that, either. The dose of the Morphine could be raised. But have you ever tried Oxycodone? There is also a time released formulation of it that you may want to ask your doctor about, it's called Oxycontin. This is a narcotic analgesic, so...

What does a roxycodone 15 mg immediate release look like.. I was prescribed this today. I had hip surgery and was sent home with a little green pill with a m in a box on one side and a 15 on the other. Is this the same thing? My bottle says oxycodone 15 mg.. But it doesn't specify immediate release. ## There is no immediate release Oxycodone in that dosage, thus, the 15mg tablets that you've received are regular release tablets. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Many doctors do write them as being immediate release, because they are not time released like Oxycontin. Is there anything else I can help with?

Does percocet 15mg come in color white? Other than green or light green is there such a thing as a white 15mg percocet? ## There is no Percocet available that contains 15mgs of anything, it is only available with a maximum of 10mgs of the Oxycodone. A 15mg tablet would just be one that contains Oxycodone and it is available in the time released formulation under the name brand Oxycontin and in the regular released formulation which is available under the brand name Roxicodone, as well as a generic. Learn more Oxycodone details here. And that said, the color doesn't actually mean anything. The manufacturer can make it any color they please. The only way to be certain of what it is would be by checking the imprint on the tablet. Can you post back with any markings on it? If you do so,...

Are there any over the counter pills that resemble a green percocet 15 mg. ? ## I'm sure there are, but I can't name them off for you. And there is no 15mg Percocet, it is only available with a maximum of 10mgs of the Oxycodone. If it was a 15mg tablet, then it had to be either the regular release Oxycodone or a time released Oxycontin. Learn more Oxycodone details here. You'll never find one that has a matching imprint, since by law those have to be unique to the prescription tablet and cannot be duplicated elsewhere. Are there any other comments or questions? ## Trying to pull a quick one on someone?? haha

pink pill-round--m on one side and 594 on the other side--is this a 20 or 30 mg roxicodone? ## This tablet contains 20mgs of Oxycodone CR, which means it is NOT a generic for Roxicodone, which is regular release, but a generic for Oxycontin, which is time released. This is a very potent, narcotic analgesic. Some common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. You can read more about this medication here: Did you have any other questions? ## My doctor wants to put on 20mg of roxycodone I'm on 15mg now wondering if anyone heard of 20mg roxycodone I know there's a 20mg of oxycodone but never heard of a 20mg roxycodone please if anyone knows let me know. ## yes, the 20mg are grey in color. not sure of imprint code.

Hello im currently taking oxycodone 30 mg i was taking 15 mg it seems like the 15s worked much better . I wonder why . anyone else havs this happen or have an explanation.please help ## Hello, D Cobb! How are you? I'm sorry that they aren't working well for you. Are they both regular release tablets? The reason I'm asking is because if the 15mg was regular release and the 30mg ones are time released Oxycontin tablets, then that may explain the issue. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Such a problem could also occur if anything else has changed…. do you take the new ones at the same intervals you took the 15mg ones? How many times a day ...

Does this exist? Sin was buying them. I'm scared she may be getting herself into something far more dangerous. Always fear meds I've not been able to locate on the internet w/ an image. ## Hello, Sophie! How are you? Are there any markings on it? That is what would enable them to be identified for you. But to clear something up, there is no 15mg Percocet. Percocet contains Oxycodone with Acetaminophen and it is only available in a maximum dosage of 10mgs of Oxycodone with 325mgs of Acetaminophen. Anything in a higher dose is either Roxicodone or its generics, or the time released Oxycontin. The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and const...

green oval 80 on one side ex on other ## The pills with the marking of EX 80 were actually a time released formulation of Oxycodone from Mexico and they have been discontinued and were illegal to have in the U.S. In the U.S. the only product that is now available is the new Oxycontin OP, the reformulation from Purdue. Are there any questions or comments? ## where can i get oc 80s in minnesota ## I live in Southeast Georgia and recently in last 2 years it has gotten harder and harder to find a Dr. in Georgia that prescribes oxycodone 30s or 15s and Dilaudid 4s & 8s. Does anybody know of a Dr. in Georgia that will prescribe me either oxycodone or Dilaudid at current date. I am extremely grateful for any help and advice. Thanks

Is the Amneal generic brand for oxycodone 20mg, gray in color, round, marked A 50 on either side of the score line and no marks on other side IMMEDIATE RELEASE? It certainly has the quick melting and is extremely bitter just like KVK I have been taking which I am positive is IR. I hope someone knows the answer....thanks in advance. ## First of all, to clarify, the only actual immediate release Oxycodone is only available in a 5mg capsule. Beyond that, there are regular release formulations, and the extended release Oxycontin. In many cases the regular release is just called 'immediate release' because all of the medication is released, at once, unlike Oxycontin, which slowly releases the dosage overtime. However, the regular release formulations still take about 15 to 20 minutes...

I was just given this med Oxycontin10mg twice a day by my dr for pain but I don't know how long until it starts working. I have Vicodin but I don't really know how much of it I should take to help with the pain. I have only taken one dose of the oxy ## Oxycontin is a time released formulation of Oxycodone and it will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes, after you take it, to start working. Then it is slowly released for approximately 12 hours. As to the Vicodin, you shouldn't take more of that than what your doctor, or pharmacist has instructed. It is generally one, every 4 to 6 hours, as needed. Is there anything else I can help with? ## My experience is that after 1 hour, the beginning effects are noticed. ## Yeah you won't get immediately relief and in my opinion much...

I am 61 ## Hi, Nancy! I totally understand your fears, playing with any medication when you have serious medical conditions is terrifying. Oxycontin actually contains the same medication you are currently taking, it's just a time released formulation of Oxycodone, so you really wouldn't be changing anything. Your doctor is just trying to help you get better pain control. The tablets you're currently taking are regular release, which means that all of the Oxycodone in them is released and starts working in your body about 15 to 20 minutes after you swallow them. With the time rele...

How are you? Well, there are higher doses of both of these medications available. Additionally, there is a time released formulation of Oxycodone available, it's called Oxycontin and is stronger than the Morphine in the MS contin. Learn more Oxycontin details here. There is also a patch that contains Fentanyl, it is stronger than both the Morphine and the Oxycodone. Learn more Fentanyl details here. Dark blue roxi 15 mg pill with time release ? These real? ## I really can't tell you anything from just the color. Are there any markings on the tablet? That is what would enable me to look it up for you. As to Roxicodone, however, no none of it is time released. The only time released formulation of Oxycodone that is available is the name brand Oxycontin. ## I found a blue round pill with the letter n 15 on it.

I need to knoe the 30mg oxycodone 30mg. what is titrstion to oxycontin 80 mg. and what is oxycodone fast? answere asap ## The one that is just called Oxycodone, would be a regular release formulation. A generic for Roxicodone, this means it takes time to dissolve in your stomach and enter your body to start working, usually about 15 to 20 minutes. Oxycontin is a time released formulation of the same medication. It is taken every 12 hours to treat chronic and severe pain. The OxyFast or OxyIR means that it is designed to start releasing the medication as soon as you swallow it, to help get pain relief much faster. Do you have any other questions?
