Oxycodone 40 Mg Capsule

I've been taking 30 mg oxycodone for about 3 years now and I've been going to the same pharmacy for about a year and a half but was told yesterday that they will no longer b carrying them. I've been to about 40 pharmacies in 2 days and I'm having no luck. I've heard a lot about the capsules. Does my Dr have to rewrite my Rx for capsule form or can a pharmacy just give me the capsules instead if they have those available?!!?!? HELP!!! ## Hi kat, I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I am prescribed to take 20 to 40 mgs of this med every 4-6 hours as needed. My dr tried me on Oxycodone ASAP but with my arthritis meds my Rhuematologist prescribes my Dr put me on what I am on now. We also tried demerol and dulauda(MS) and felt no relief of pain so we settled on ehat I am on now. Exactly what am I taking, a friend said it was Oxycotin. Whatever it is it just takes the edge off my chronic pain. There is a problem in Nebraska trying to get this med this month. many pharmacies said they could not get it. Im perscribed OC 40 mg. with the OP on the market the OC became the generic Oxycodone 40 mg. The question is there is Oxycontin 40 mg in capsules. Basicly is that equal to the Oxycodone 40 without the buffer in it ## There is no generic for Oxycontin, both the one with the OC and the one with the OP marking are made by Purdue, they just reformulated to help prevent abuse and discontinued manufacturing the original that had the OC marking. Oxycontin contains Oxycodone in a time released formulation. As to the other formulations, no, there is none available in a 40mg dosage. The immediate release capsule is only available in a 5mg dosage and the regular release tablets are only available in a maximum dosage of 30mgs. Is there anything else I can help with?

i would like a list of Pharmcacies that will fill oxycodone 30mg IR.in and around Los Angels Ca. ## I am sorry, but there is no central listing of pharmacies that have any particular medication in stock. It would be virtually impossible to keep such a list updated anyway, as it would be very dynamic information. Additionally, there is no 30mg immediate release Oxycodone, this dosage is only available in the regular release or time released formulation. The IR is only available in a 5mg capsule. I have Orange capsule with no marking.they claimed it was oxycodone 40mg, do they exist? ## Afraid the strongest IR oxycodone capsule I am aware of is 20mg. And there certainly are not any single colour Oxy capsules of any strength made anywhere. No idea what you have but your idea is clearly incorrect. ## @original poster, Just to add, the only orange-capsuled oxycodone pills I could find are a 5mg oxycodone IR capsule made by Mallinckrodt (with an imprint of "0554 [M] 5 mg"), and an orange 5mg oxycodone IR capsule made by Purdue (with an imprint of "O-IR PF 5 mg"). small clear round light brown capsul about the size of a pea ## The only small light brown capsule I can locate with an "M" imprint, also happens to have other markings as well (i.e. "0554 5mg M"). The "M" is also inside of a square box. This particular pill is identified as Oxycodone hydrochloride 5 mg. Can I crush up an OxyContin 40 and put it into an empty pill capsule so that way it all hits me at once.(Because OxyContin has a 12 hour extended release period.) Would I be able to do this? would it work for me? ## I don't know why Dr.Jones just assumed you were an addict...but anywho...the answer is NO...DO NOT crush this pill...yes it is extended release so what that means is the pill is timed to release 40 mgs of oxycodone into your system on an hourly basis...to crush,chew or break up this pill in anyway breaks the time seal & can be FATAL...think of it this way...it says 40 mgs...thats a time released 40 mgs...the actual pill contains more than 40 mgs...so by damaging the pill in anyway there would be no way to tell how much of the drug is released into your system at one ...
