I have been on oxycodone 30mg for about 6 months now, its time for my refill and my pharmacy is having trouble keeping them in stock. I was givin 2 oxycontin 30mg op by a friend. But from all the bad reviews on the oxycontin im not sure i want to take the whole 30. Is cutting it in half safe? If you cut in half a new oxycontin OP no matter the doses (10, 20, 30, 40 etc.) does it retain the same time release quality? Does it hurt the op 40's if they are cut in half? I don't like to take the whole pill at once. ## Since these are time released tablets, it isn't advisable that you cut them in half, because even with the new formulation, it could still result in the Oxycodone being released faster, so you get too much in your body, at once. My pain mgt MD gives me oxycodone IR 30mg but I cut in two and see if pain goes below 5 of 10 after 1 hr after first dose of half tab, if not I then take the other half. So far since my leg reconstruction surgery 7 weeks ago I have needed the full 30mg every time. Here is my question: Will I get a longer time of pain relief and thus a longer time period of my sense of well being when pain is gone by (1) taking the 30mg at single dose q 4 hrs or by (2)taking 15mg q 2 hrs, of course not taking the 2nd 15mg dose if pain<5? It seems to be cumulative but not in any consistent way that I can get a pattern tracked for optimal benefit? I had no idea u could not break the pill in half and this is my first time taking it. I broke it in half and took it. I just now read how dangerous it is. I just came off my percocet yesterday and now take this. Is it common for it to be a huge problem or not real common. Im worried of overdose. I am trying to get off opiates myself but safely, I have been fighting this demon for years and I don't want it anymore. I have a prescription for 20 mg Adderall IR and my generic options are Aurobindo, Teva or Sandoz. Which one of these would you recommend? I was prescribed 10 mg oxycodone hydrochloride. I ran out 5 days before i was supposed to get my new script. I had a 30 mg blue oxycodone hydrochloride that I cut in half so I didn't take too much at once.
