Norco Dosage

I want to reduce my use of 5325 Norco. I have a new hip replacement and not in that much pain. What do you suggest? ## Usually for drugs like this the safest way to stop taking them is to tapper off them, if possible. Some medications can be taken in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pieces can be taken in place of the regular dose for a period of several weeks until the body is no longer dependent upon them. If you haven't been taking them for too long, this process should be much easier than the vast majority of withdrawals people go through from taking them for years on end. I wish you a quick recovery!

I've been taking 7.5/325 norco for years now for chronic pain. The last couple of months, its been hard to get my scripts filled. Someone said the fda changed the dosage to 7.5/300.....which is correct? ## Hello, Bonnie! How are you? No, they have made no recent changes, the ones with 325mgs of Acetaminophen are the standard dose. However, fewer companies are manufacturing it, now, which may create a shortage in some areas. The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## The correct norco strength ## Thank you so much for the info.....I have been taking it since 2003... (4 shoulder surgeries...

My doctor switched me from lortab7.5 to norco325 and the norco makes me sick to my stomach, why? ## Did he switch you to the higher dosage? There is a Norco available that contains 10mgs of Hydrocodone with the 325mgs of Acetaminophen, if you're on the higher dosage of it, then that may explain the nausea. Learn more Norco details here.

Is a norco 365 stronger then a vicodin 357 and why ## Based on my research, Norco M365 is "weaker" than Vicodin M357. It's simply a matter of each pill containing a different dosage of Acetaminophen. Norco M365 contains: Acetaminophen (325 mg) + Hydrocodone bitartrate (5 mg). Vicodin M357 contains: Acetaminophen (500 mg) + Hydrocodone bitartrate (5 mg). Learn More: Acetaminophen + Hydrocodone If you have any more questions or concerns, please post back and I will be happy to help you. ## Is m365 stronger than m360 in vicodin ? ## I had a doctor prescribe the 5-300 Vicodin, and not only did it cost a whole lot more ($68 for 60 when 120 Norco cost $44), but in didn't work as well as the Norco.

My pcp prescribed norco for me until I can see a surgeon for cervical spine pain. He initially gave me a script for 30 with one refill and I was to take one a day. This wasn't enough for the pain, so he called in another script for 25 and wrote it to take one every 6 hours. I refilled the 30 script on the 5th and the pharmacy won't refill the script for 25 today the 15th. Is there any way to get this filled ? ## I would suggest contacting your doctor, it would seem that the pharmacy hasn't noted the dosage change. If they had, there shouldn't be a problem filling it for you. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Hello, I'm on norco 10/325 5 times a day and I just got my dosage raised to 6 times a day. My question is will I be able to get it filled early sine the dosage is different? Thank you! :) ## It will depend on the pharmacist and your insurance. It also depends on how early you would be getting it filled. ## Thanks for the reply, it will be 6 days early. ## There's really no way of knowing until you go to the pharmacy. ## most will go is THREE days early.. sorry, experience.. ## Thanks for the reply, even if it's a different quantity? ## The problem is you have to finish out the 30 day script that you were on before they fill a new script with the new dosage. I'm assuming that your dosage went up because you were running out too soon each month. Just call your pharmacist a...

Having a total knee replacement done in March have tried every type of therapies for pain, including CORTISONE and ORTHOVISC, but nothing helps... Doctor put me on Norco (5mg. / 325 mg.). It takes the edge off of my pain. (Also forgot to mention I'm dealing with severe bursitis in my hip in which I'm having the knee replacement surgery done on...) But still in a lot of pain. Can I asked the Orthopedic Surgeon to up the dosage to 7.5 mg. / 325 mg.? Also, is it safe taking this medication for two months prior to my surgery? Need some relief from pain until March... (Had my other knee replaced 5 years ago and took Norco 10/325 for 5 weeks after surgery to help with pain especially during therapy.) Anyones advise on this question? Thanks Much! would like information on a comparrison of the two drugs are they equal in strenght ## That would depend on the dosage. Norco contains Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone. Winadeine contains Acetaminophen and Codeine. The Codeine is not equal in strength to the Oxycodone, so you would need a higher dose of it to achieve the same pain relief. The side effect profile, however, is the same: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Read more: Are there any comments or questions?

Differences In these two meds ## Hello, Shellie! How are you? Originally, the difference between these brands was the dosage, however, due to the changes which have been made to the amount of Acetaminophen they can use in them, that is no longer true. It is really best to just consider them all to be the same, they contain varying doses of Hydrocodone with 325mgs of Acetaminophen, though there are rare cases where the Acetaminophen may be lower. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. PHOTO OF NORCO10-325MG TAB ## Norco contains Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone. That said, since there are also generics on the market, I cannot possibly post pictures of all of the available tablets with this dosage, there are many different companies that make it and each must have a unique imprint to enable its identification. Some imprints with this dosing include: A 328, a white, oblong tablet IP 110, white, oblong 176, white, oval M 367, white, oblong V 3601, yellow, oblong RX 497, white, round NORCO 539, yellow, oblong WATSON 853, yellow, oblong And this just includes the ones I could find. Hi, i get the yellow norco pill with a cursive v and 3601 on the back. Is there a better brand? ## Vintage Pharmaceuticals Inc. manufactures the pill V 3601. Watson Pharmaceuticals also manufactures this drug. More specifically "Watson 358" is the same dosage as the pill you are describing. And as far as I know, the brand name Watson is among the most popular. But based on this information maybe you can ask your pharmacy/doctor for the Watson brand (Watson 358) and see if you feel a difference in effectiveness. Hope this helps! I am taking Oxy's 40 mg 2x per day, and the norco's (2), 3x per day. I feel like i am building up a tolerance. I have heard of people changing their meds to something else for a while, so they dont have to keep increasing the dosages. Is there anyone out there with experience with this. and can anyone tell me what else works good for chronic pain?

Why is it small and yellow, I was taking the lortab blue pill ## The color and size don't actually mean anything, the company may just manufacture their pills differently, so they use less fillers, than other manufacturers. What are the markings on the tablet in question? The name brand Norco that is a yellow tablet in the 10/325mg dosage is oval and has the marking NORCO 539 on one side of the tablet. There is also a generic, that is a yellow, oval with the marking WATSON 853. Another yellow, oval one with the marking 3601 on one side and a V on the other side. Do any of these match the tablet you have? If not, please post back with markings and I will gladly check it for you.

What is the difference in the white oblong pill with m367 and the yellow with a V and 3601? ## The only difference between these two tablets is that they are manufactured by different companies. The one with the M marking is manufactured by Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals and the one with the V is manufactured by Vintage/Qualitest. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. But both are the same dosage and contain 10mgs of Hydrocodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Verwon, Your wrong. My doctor has me on 10mg every 4-6 hours. Is this dosage safe? I was on Norco 10mg every 4-6 prior to this and this pain reliever seems much more powerful. ## Hi DeDe, The dosing instructions for this drug are as follows: "Dosage should be adjusted according to the severity of the pain and the response of the patient. It may occasionally be necessary to exceed the usual dosage recommended below in cases of more severe pain or in those patients who have become tolerant to the analgesic effect of opioids." The "usual" adult dosage is one tablet every 4-6 hours as needed for pain; so what you're doing now is fine. It may just be that you aren't used to the strength of oxycodone and therefore may or may not feel the need to use a lower dose, equivalent to that of Nor...

Ive been getting hydrocodone from my dr for 5 yrs. Can she refill it one week early? its written for 2 per day but recently had some issues she is aware of that caused more pain so am now out ## Hello, Chele! How are you? She'd have to write a new prescription for you changing the dosage. It won't be able to be filled early the current way that it's written. This medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, constipation and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with?

My husband had cervical neck fusion 10 months ago. He was given 7.5/325 Norco with no side effects. Two weeks ago he had lumbar back fusion and they gave him 10/325 for the pain. These seem to get him high plus dry mouth, urine retention, and insomnia. What's up? He is very frustrated because he has to have them for pain. We don't understand why the onset of side effects with the higher dosage. Is this common? ## Yes, it is very normal for someone to experience more side effects, when they take a higher dosage of any given medication. The FDA warns that Norco carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. How is he doing now? Has there been any change?

Is this a generic norco from walgreens? - white oval pill 2172 scored on back side blank ## will 2172 have the same effect as 3202? how much more friggin' detail do u want? ## @RPMJR, Yes, a white oval pill with 2172 is generic Hydrocodone Bitartrate 5mg + Acetaminophen 325mg with a National Drug Code of 0591-2172. Seems like a lot of people here on MedsChat have asked about this pill just within the past couple days so I'm assuming it's a relatively new product and not much info has been posted on the internet. For verification, Actavis Pharmaceuticals is the manufacturer. @Mr. Breeze, 2172 and WATSON 3202 are the same drug with the same listed dosage...
